25.01.2022 Thank you voters, family and friends for your continued support as I enter my sixth term on Southern Grampians Shire Council serving the people of Western Victoria. Largest field ever and the most challenging year on council. But I made it and appreciate the opportunity and responsibility that comes with local government representation.
24.01.2022 Good morning from Glenlea Cavendish Thankyou for your support and interest in the future of Southern Grampians Shire. What has been the major fact staring me in the face when looking at the polling numbers is the declining population in our Shire. Despite having so much to offer. And State and Federal electorates are enlarging .Again Covid lock down 2020 may bring renewed interest on moving and living in a fantastic regional community, but should we wait 100 years for a p...andemic to get growth and increased support? A solid regional plan for our western Victorian communities? 10 % extra people across our Shire helps share the rate burden, increases our workforce , fills our schools, sporting grounds, cinema and galleries. Renewal and reinvigoration. Enjoy the weekend. Long or short. Thanks for reading. Kate ( Katrina )

11.01.2022 I would like to thank the local artist who helped me make a mobile mural caravan to tell the Great Grampians Rail Ride story and revive our 8 Western Victoria Council supported #westernrail campaign. Better connectivity builds tourism, business and population and improves our standard if living. Here are some sites and places visited over the last week. Starting with Dunkeld . A train stopping at Dunkekd...local food and wine served on board....the landscapes from Ararat west truly amazing from our train line What a great place to celebrate we have in Southern Grampians. #getonboardwesternrail
08.01.2022 Returning Passenger Rail to Western Victoria requires getting it onto the State Rail Plans. I would like the decision makers tell us why Ararat residents deserve better public transport than Hamilton. Why Bairnsdale residents get three trains a day when they have a similar population and distance from Melbourne. Is it our job to save the State and Federal Government's money ? The track is there. We only need the drivers, train set and crossing upgrades. Hamilton station was graced with Freight train carriages yesterday.
08.01.2022 When completing my nomination to stand again at the SGSC election, my response to what my vision for the municipality was, was this..... Southern Grampians Shire is a great place to live with thriving active townships servicing diversified agricultural businesses, caring for our landscapes, celebrating culture, creativity and our environment, providing excellence in education, healthcare, business, finance, retail and emergency services, well connected with public transport including passenger rail and connecting bus services. What would your response be?

06.01.2022 When completing my nomination to stand for the SGSC through the The Victorian Electoral Commission, this questions was asked. "What expertise or attributes do you have which would help you in undertaking the role of Councillor?" My response was..... I listen, research and contemplate issues before making decisions. Respecting diversity of opinions, sharing information, ideas and hard working. Supporting other councillors initiatives. Responding to ratepayers and residents p...hone calls, emails and personal approaches are very important. My experience in governance extends to a term on the Australian Women in Agriculture Board, undertaking the Australian Institute Company Directors Course and being a Councillor for 19 years.
