22.01.2022 12 months on since our team filmed The Victoria Cross . Australia Remembers book launch. Sydney Opera House May 2015 Prince Harry said farewell to Australia after a month deployment with Australian Army. Prince Harry noticed an elderly lady sitting in a wheel chair wearing three sets of WWII service medals: one in her left breast, two on her right. Prince Harrys eyes narrowed & saw the crimson ribbon & blackish bronze of one of the medals. He crouched in front of the eld...erly lady, a warm hand preceding his smile. I see you have a Victoria Cross , whose is it? The elderly lady smiled , it was my husbands , Albert Chownes , she replied , he was killed in New Guinea in WWII The prince leaned closer, Its wonderful to see you, do you wear it often, or just on special occasions ? Im wearing it for you , Daphne replied, Prince Harry smiled & kissed the 95 year old on the cheek & ignoring the cameras & requests from minders Prince Harry settled down for a chat. Daphne Dunne Rest In Peace 2019 All profits from sale of the Australias Victoria Cross book go directly to Totally & Permanently Incapacitated Association. For this we thank you.

16.01.2022 Bombing of Darwin remembered 78 Years on. Jack Mulholland antiaircraft gunner WWII Veteran recounts his personal experience from what he describes as "The Battle for Darwin" 19 February 1942 when 188 Japanese aircraft bombs rained out of the morning sky. Under prepared and with little training, Jack indicates it was like having to run 100 yards, in the olympic games, without ever having run a race. ... Kaname Harada Japanese Zero Fighter Pilot whom escorted the Japanese bombers onto their Darwin targets, was surprised no Australian interceptors would be waiting for them. Mr Kaname Harada provided air cover while Japanese dive bombers attacked Australian ships, sinking 4 principle vessels in Darwin Harbour. Reports indicate 256 people were killed during the attack While warships were sinking and town was left burning, much of Australia was left oblivious to the number of dead, and the extent of the damage. https://youtu.be/OzCb86C2O0s

14.01.2022 Queen’s Elizabeth II speech 75th anniversary of VE Day and. London Radio. His Majesty King George VI George VI: Let us remember the men and all the services,... and the women, and all the services who laid down their lives. We have come to the end, of our tribulation. And they are not with us, at moment of our rejoicing. [Queen Elizabeth II speech on the 75th anniversary of VE Day from Windsor Castle]. I speak to you today, at the same hour, my father did, exactly 75 years ago. His message then was a salute, to the men and women, at home and aboard, who would sacrifice so much in the pursuit, of what he rightly called, a great deliverance. The war had been a total war, it had affected everyone, and no one was immune from its impact. Whether it be the men and women whom were called up to serve, families separated from each other, or people asked to take up new roles and skills, to support the war effort, all had a part to play. At the start, the outlet seemed bleak. The end distant. The outcome uncertain. But we kept faith that the cause was right. And this belief my father noted in his broadcast, carried us through. ‘Never give up, never despair’. That was the message of VE day. I vividly remember the jubilant scenes my sister and I witnessed, with our parents and Winston Churchill, from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The sense of joy that had gathered outside, and across the country, was profound. There while we celebrated the victory in Europe, we knew there would be further sacrafice. It was not until August, that fighting in the far east ceased. And the war finally ended. Many people laid down their lives, in that terrible conflict. They fought so that we could live in peace, at home an abroad. They died so that we could live as free people, in a world of free nations. They risked all, so that our families and neighbourhoods could be safe. We should, and will, remember them. As I now reflect on my fathers words, and the joyous celebrations that some of us experienced first hand, I’m thankful for the strength and courage, that the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and all our Allies displayed. The war time generation knew that the best way to honour those, that did not come back from the war, was to ensure that it did not happen again. The greatest tribute to their sacrifice, that countries that were once sworn enemies, are now friends. Working side by side, for peace, health and prosperity, for us all. Today, it may seem hard, that we can not mark this special anniversary, as we would wish. Instead we remember from our homes, and our doorsteps. But our streets are not empty, they are filled with the love and the care, that we have for each other. And when I look at our country today, and see what we are willing to do, to protect and support one another, I say with pride, that we are still a nation, those brave soldiers, sailors and airmen, would recognise and admire. I send my warmest good wishes to you all". (For those whom are hearing impaired I typed out QE II speech). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnxQxHEeiQ4

04.01.2022 Did you know: The term Black Swan originates from the (Western) belief that all swans are white because these were the only ones accounted for. However, in 1697 the Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh discovered black swans in Australia. This was an unexpected event in (scientific) history and profoundly changed zoology.
