24.01.2022 Wonderful spotlight on the Essendon-Maribyrnong Park Ladies Cricket Club today, showing the vital role our sports clubs play in our community. Not only do the EMP Bombers produce world class cricketers, they are contributing in tangible ways to connectedness and wellbeing in our city. https://www.cricket.com.au//molly-strano-essend/2021-02-08

24.01.2022 Tonight we visited the SES Essendon Unit to see the volunteers in training and hear about the amazing work this group do. Like many of our community groups, the last year has been a real challenge for the SES. Fundraising has taken a hit, training was on hold for many months, but these dedicated volunteers have been there for our Moonee Valley community because emergencies don’t stop for a pandemic! Tonight we had a bit of fun, I stepped in to play the body in the crime scene training scenario, but the work that the SES team do is no joke. Thank you so much for everything you do.

24.01.2022 How great is this!! So proud of our council becoming just the 11th in Australia to become certified carbon neutral. There’s a lot of work still to do to support our community to reduce emissions but this is a great start

23.01.2022 Today we have a public holiday to thank Victorians, and I wanted to take the opportunity say thanks to all my family, friends and supporters who have taken this campaign journey with me. I couldn't have done this without you. Today is the last day to return your votes in the council elections. I've really enjoyed spending this time speaking to my neighbours and learning about what matters most to them. Whatever the outcome of this election, I look forward to working with and for my community in the years ahead.

23.01.2022 Yesterday, I joined Ben Carroll MP and Mayor Cam Nation to speak to the Rosehill Secondary College Year 10 Civics Class about our systems of government. I loved the opportunity to share ideas on how to get involved and make a change on issues that are important. What a treat to meet with the leaders of the future!

22.01.2022 It was a lovely day for a market today, great to be down at the Incinerator Gallery with Cr Rose Iser for the Artists' and Makers' Market. I bought myself a few presents, and met some wonderful local artists including Charlie By Art, a Moonee Valley local and inspiring young artist and entrepreneur!

19.01.2022 As a democracy nerd, I've always loved voting. But as a first-time candidate, it was a real thrill this weekend to put a #1 next to my own name! Make sure you get your vote in for this council election. Ballots need to be posted by 6pm on Friday 23rd October, but the earlier the better! It's so important that we elect a council that will take a compassionate approach to COVID recovery, will protect our council services that keep us all healthy and connected, and will fund i...nitiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. I'll post a suggested how to vote in the comments, but your vote is your own. Make it count!

19.01.2022 This morning I went down to the Essendon Rowing Club who were hosting a 'Rowing on the River' event with Victoria Police and Indigenous young people. It was fantastic to see such a great partnership, and have our community sports facilities welcoming and supporting great initiatives like this one!

19.01.2022 I've had an invigorating morning today, up with the sparrows and 125 keen participants for our second MOVE Moonee Valley Triathlon! It was a privilege to welcome everyone and start the race, such an impressive achievement for all our competitors Thanks to everyone who got involved in this event which, as the only triathlon in the metro northwest, is growing fast! In particular thanks to the 32 volunteers who showed up to support family and friends and ensure th...is event could go ahead smoothly and safely. Looking forward to next year, where I'll need to forego official duties to get involved myself! Triathlon Victoria Cr Ava Adams, Moonee Valley City Council

18.01.2022 I was honoured today to be elected as a Moonee Valley Councillor for Myrnong Ward. It has been an election like no other. As a first time candidate, campaigning during a pandemic, I am humbled by the support I have received from members of my community. Thank you everyone who has reached out to me, for your advice, your views, your votes, your well wishes. A big congratulations to all candidates for putting up their hands, I know we all genuinely have our community's best interests at heart. I look forward to working hard for Myrnong and Moonee Valley, and to continuing the conversation with all of you to make sure this council is representing our community's priorities.

17.01.2022 If you’re looking for something to do tomorrow, I highly recommend heading down to the Kensington Town Hall for the Rotary Club of Flemington Kensington Art Show It’s open tomorrow from 9:30am-4pm for its last day. Joe and I checked it out today, a fantastic mix of sculpture, watercolor, acrylic, photography and ceramics. Joe was given the honour of drawing the raffle prize! Congratulations Anne and the Committee on a wonderful event, I look forward to next years show

17.01.2022 This is tough news to be sharing, our community has endured so much already in the last 12 months. It’s time to dig deep, check on your friends, family and neighbours, support a local restaurant, stay close to home and help us get on top of this quickly.

17.01.2022 Today was Neighbour Day 2021 and we celebrated by awarding our Neighbourhood Spirit Awards and Moonee Valley Citizen of the Year! I presented a neighbourhood spirit award to Alicia Murphy, who lives just around the corner from us and is the heart of her street, welcoming new neighbours, organising street parties and keeping everyone’s spirits up through what was a pretty rough year. It’s people like Alicia that make this a great place to live. Three cheers for our wonderful neighbours! @ City of Moonee Valley

16.01.2022 It's time to have your say on what you want to see happen in Moonee Valley over the next four years! Every new Council term, we develop a 4 year Council Plan in partnership with the community. One of the key reasons I ran for council was to make sure that our council is reflecting the needs and priorities of the community. I need your help to make sure this happens! I encourage you to visit the Your Say website and let Council know what matters most to you by filling out the survey by the closing date of 28 March. You can also follow the MVCC facebook page to ensure you don't miss out on future opportunities to get involved in this process.

13.01.2022 Tomorrow night at 6:30pm I will be sworn in as a Moonee Valley Councillor. I want to give a huge thank you again to all my friends, family and neighbours who helped make this happen. I am proud to be your representative and can't wait to get to work for my community. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions this can't be at a big community event, but the ceremony will be live streamed. If you'd like to tune in, visit the Council website at https://mvcc.vic.gov.au/my-council/council-meetings/

12.01.2022 Our families deserve nothing but the best. One of the main reasons I want to be a councillor is so that I can stand up for families and make sure that everyone has access to the best care available. That means supporting our council run services. They know the community best, and they provide the consistent, high quality services our families deserve.

11.01.2022 I was so pleased to be able to celebrate the huge achievement of the class of 2020 last night with the Eritrean Community in Australia and Viv Nguyen - Victorian Multicultural Commissioner. Year 12 is one of the toughest years in a young person’s life, made so much tougher last year in a pandemic with Stage 5 lockdowns and remote learning. I take my hat off to you all, you have made your families and community so proud

11.01.2022 With the announcements today of a 25km travel zone, we are now able to go and visit Joe's great Nana and Pa in a park near their home, to celebrate Joe's first birthday! It's been a long few months for all of us but these small steps mean so much to families. Supporting people, like my husband's grandparents, to be able to age at home, in their own community, is a priority of mine and something I hope to be able to fight for as a Moonee Valley councillor.

09.01.2022 After four years of hard work and tireless advocacy, the community and Council have been successful in securing $1.3 million State Government grant to protect our open space and create parkland at Strathaird Reserve. Well done to everyone involved in the fight for this important asset for the local community in Strathmore! ... This weekend I joined my fellow Councillors, members of the community, Minister Lily D'Ambrosio MP and Minister Danny Pearson MP for Essendon for the long awaited announcement. It was clear that this meant a lot to the local residents, MPs and Councillors who had been involved in the journey to this point. I'm thrilled to be a part of the Councillor team that will see this project through. Watch this space! See more

06.01.2022 A friendly reminder to make sure you post your ballot paper for local council elections before 6pm THIS Friday 23rd October! Just over half of the ballots for Myrnong have been returned, which means there are still a lot sitting on the hall table or kitchen counter waiting to be filled out and posted! Don't miss out on your chance to have a say in who is elected to our council. If you have any questions you'd like to ask me before you cast your vote, please get in touch with me on 0492 452 726 for a chat

01.01.2022 Over the past week, with ballot packs arriving, I've had a number of people get in contact with me to ask about my position on particular issues that are important to them. And the majority of those calls and messages relate to climate action. I love that at this election, Myrnong residents are doing their research and making their vote count. Climate action is such an important issue, and I'm really pleased that it is increasingly the issue that will decide people's votes. ...We need urgent action to protect our environment, and we need elected representatives who will make decisions to invest in initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. Here's a commitment I made earlier in my campaign, that all decisions I make as a councillor will have climate action as a foundational consideration. Need improved street lighting to keep people safe at night? Let's make sure they're solar powered. Need a strategy to improve traffic congestion and lack of parking in Moonee Valley? Let's make sure cycling infrastructure is a part of that solution. Councillors make a lot of decisions about a wide range of services, operations and planning for our community. We need each of these decisions to consider the environmental impact and make the most sustainable choice. We need a holistic approach to acting to protect our environment and our future.
