22.01.2022 I think it's very important to remember that even when a child seems to be doing 'nothing' while sitting or standing around and watching the world go by they are still learning so much! Taking in their surroundings, watching how others interact and play, seeing new things all the time!! This is how children learn and we don't need to interrupt this or encourage them to engage with others.... They will do it in their own time with all the knowledge they have taken in https://www.facebook.com/199554610535279/posts/1051304068693658/
20.01.2022 The sandpit toys arrived yay!! And some more fun decorations to add some colour!
20.01.2022 Our story books for this week extended with toys and songs such as 'Five Cheeky Monkeys' and 'Haydy Ho'. These books are great sensory activities and can be extended on in so many ways.
19.01.2022 Extending on Elliot's interest in dinosaurs I have provided dinosaurs of all different sizes as well as some fun age appropriate stories about dinosaurs. We have talked about the big dinosaurs and the little ones helping Elliot to understand the concept of size.
18.01.2022 Something I need to remember with my own children on those particularly challenging days
18.01.2022 What a simple but awesome way to learn about magnets! https://www.facebook.com/thedadlab/videos/2851129008456315/
17.01.2022 The children are working on their balance today as they walk along the stepping stones and over the see-saw beam. Maya was very encouraging saying " try again" to Elliot when he fell off. There were lots of giggles coming from little Sadie as she stood and watched Maya and Elliot work their way across but not quite confident enough to give it a go herself yet. This play is completely child lead as they freely choose activities and play throughout the day. They are learning lots such as how to balance and use their bodies in big movements, language and social skills as they take turns and talk to each other about what they are doing and Sadie is learning through observation as well as engaging with the other children through laughing and smiling.
16.01.2022 This week we are learning colours with a simple sorting tray made from a cardboard box and some duplo blocks.
16.01.2022 It's been a busy weekend getting the sandpit and play space all ready. Some very tired children and parents from lots of hard work but worth every bit of effort!
15.01.2022 Elliot is exploring a farm animal puzzle. We are talking about the different animals and the sounds they make. Elliot is matching the pieces to their place in the puzzle, developing his cognitive skills, and trying to fit the pieces in place which is developing his fine motor skills. Lots of play based fun learning going on!!
14.01.2022 Lots of sensory play this week with frozen sea creatures, colourful ice blocks to draw with, fluffy foam and bubbles to chase and pop!

08.01.2022 We love music in our home and Kyuss and Elliot are making beautiful music with the new steel tongue drums. We have talked about the difference in low and high sounds and made some beautiful music together
05.01.2022 Elliot is enjoying exploring jungle animals. He is developing his language skills asking "what's that?" and repeating the names of the animals when I tell him what they are. He is also making the animal sounds as he moves them around the table.
05.01.2022 Today Elliot is exploring texture and colour with some blue rice. I started off with some spoons and a cup, which he happily played with, then to keep him engaged in the experience a little longer (so I could home school Kyuss ) I added some dinosaurs which he loved!
04.01.2022 It's been a week full of outdoor fun this week. Being school holidays we have had some older children in care which has been lots of fun especially for the younger children who just love to watch and learn from their older peers. My program allows for children to explore, play and learn they way they want to following their interests, needs and development. There has been lots of interest in climbing, jumping, cartwheeling and spinning so it has been really interesting to watch the children navigate their way around some risk taking play. I am always there to supervise and make suggestions if I feel the need to step in to prevent injury but I can honestly say that I am not needed very much! The children all evaluated their risks and not one single bump or bruise has occurred just lots of fun and learning!
03.01.2022 Perfect day for sandpit play! I hope everyone is out enjoying this beautiful Sunshine
03.01.2022 Yesterday the children decided that they wanted to make ooblek so I bought the ingredients last night and this morning we made some! All the children were amazed by the texture and discussed how it felt and moved. The children discovered that if they squish it in their hands and it becomes solid but when they relax their hands it runs through their fingers like a liquid! Simple yet amazing!! Ingredients 2 cups of corn flour 1 cup of water... Food colouring And fun! See more
03.01.2022 While we wait for our delivery of new sandpit toys to arrive we make do with whatever we can find! Play, explore, investigate
02.01.2022 That clever husband of mine has been at it again building a wonderful mud kitchen for the children to enjoy!

01.01.2022 Following Elliot's lead I have set up some cars for him. He is constantly pointing out cars when we see them and even recognises their sound when we are indoors and yells out 'car! ' as they go by He is speaking more and more and this activity is simple but follows his interests and is helping to develop many skills such as language and gross and fine motor skills. Broom broom
