22.01.2022 The government says its tracing app is not mandatory, but then says how many restrictions are eased depends on people downloading it. That sounds a bit like bla...ckmail to us. Speaking to the ABC today, a Department of Health spokesperson said about the app: The rules on privacy are being finalised, along with final IT testing. Why should people be expected to download something when the rules on privacy haven’t been finalised? Lot’s of people are saying there’s no big deal with the app if you have Facebook they collect your data, too. That’s true, but Facebook doesn’t have the power to do things like fine you or lock you up, the government does. Think very carefully before handing over your freedoms. Anyone who thinks foreign investors aren't circling right now, waiting to buy up big chunks of Australia cheap in the wake of the coronavirus crisis is kidding themselves. The government might have changed the threshold so that all foreign acquisitions have to be approved by FIRB. But FIRB does not have a good track record of protecting Australia. Just look at the statistics. Are you really okay with more than 13 per cent of Australia's agricultural land being owned by foreigners? We're not. The Australian Department of Defence's Director of Preparedness Cheryl Durrant told ABC's 7.30: A growing group of Australia's top brass has warned for years, our reliance on overseas supply chains makes the nation vulnerable in an increasingly unstable world. We're worse off than a few countries. Ninety eight per cent of our trade, imports, exports, depends upon foreign-owned shipping systems," Ms Durrant said. The coronavirus pandemic will not be the last crisis this country faces, and we need to learn from this experience. It’s time to back those who back Australia manufacturing.
