18.01.2022 Our third story from our, "When It Rains It Pours", north QLD flood story. Gillian Bryant. Gilly and her husband Mark live on Ernestina Plains, east of Clo...ncurry. They experienced substantial losses on their family owned operation. Gilly, "We haven't mustered yet to allow the stock to recover from the mental trauma which they have been through. They have been quite haunted up to the last couple of weeks. When I do a water run, that is, checking the troughs etc. I just look at those beautiful faces which crowd around the vehicle and just think, 'You poor darlings, you have been to hell and back,' and the thought of it still brings tears to my eyes." 16.01.2022 THE REASON why. Like thousands of us around the country I was floored by the horror and enormity of the flooding disaster that swept through the north west of Queensland earlier this year. It seems a hill too steep to climb for some to return to economic viability and sustainable way of life for their families. But it wasn’t until I saw this letter that I realised that I had to contribute - and I felt that if I can make something with any skill, knowledge or talent that I ...have, I could do better than a small donation of my own. Kids accept life as we present it to them, and some will have rougher rides than others. It is the very core of what I do, and why I do it - to bring joy, love and a bit of happy to each and every kid. Because they all deserve it. Thank you to everyone who has shared, commented, liked, bid and generally supported the Auction, and Kaurila + Co. it is your support that has helped raise an incredible amount of money that will be 100% donated to an organisation that provides fundamental service and support to those living in these affected rural communities.
