24.01.2022 #Jahazi (Dhow). The Dhow boat was (and still is) the most efficient way to connect Bagamoyo town (mainland TZ) and the island of Zanzibar. Local business people use it to transport their goods. Some tourists also catch it as a cheaper alternative and more local experience to get to Zanzibar. 23.01.2022 M'buyuni ("A Place Where the Baobab Is") The Baobab tree is one of the most majestic trees that locals in Tanzania use for spiritual rituals. Growing up as a kid we knew that this tree is symbolic for our ancestors to watch over us. It's forbidden to cut it, build a house near it, pave a path or walk under the tree around midday, sunset and midnight. And even if it's growing on your land, you don't own it like you own the other trees on your land. One of the best memories I h...ave is being a school kid with my friends during school break, we used to get some fruits which keeps our bellies full all day long . They are one of the largest tribal groups around Lake Victoria (Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania) although nowadays you can even find them in big cities. Still if you get a chance to visit their #boma (traditional home) and stay with them you will be amazed how true to their cultural life they are living.
