24.01.2022 Hey Z Owners picked this sad news up from the Z Owners WA FB site. Dave ‘Sheriff’ Gregory has sadly lost his battle with skin cancer. For those who didn’t know Dave, he was president for many years and was Instrumental in making the Z Owners Legends Rally happen for the time it ran. May the Sheriff RIP and forever ride free. Many of the early QLD Z Owners will remember the Sheriff and remember how Dedicated he was to our chapter. RIP Dave.... Dave Gregory AKA Sherriff "Broken Hill 2002"

24.01.2022 It is with great sadness to let you know that Sandy Harbutt passed on Saturday night at Wollongong Hospital. Sandy had turned 79 on Friday. The Queensland Kawasaki Z Owners send our deepest sympathy to family and friends. Anyone who had ever met Sandy was better for it. R.I.P Sandy "TAKE THE TRIP ! "

23.01.2022 Hey Z Owners information on another classic z900/z1000. BIMOTA KB1 900/1000 - (1978-1982) Powered by a Kawasaki Z1000 engine, the KB1 was the most successful Bimota in the Tamburini era. 827 bikes were produced in three series from 1978 and 1982, the KB1 is also the first model to show only the Bimota badge on the tank (MK3). Only 16 were completely assembled in the factory and sold at the astronomical price of 8.100.000 lire (4183), the same price of a contemporary sports ...car like Lancia Beta Montecarlo. 22.01.2022 Hey Z Owners a quick funny from Brother Nigel. I think, I'm going to lose my drivers license... and all just because of a stupid police officer... The conversation went like this, when I got pulled over in my car:... Officer: "License and registration, please, I think you are drunk!" Me: "I assure you, I did not drink anything." Officer: "Ok, let's do a little test! Imagine driving in the dark on a highway at night, when you see two lights in the distance. What is this?" Me: "A car." Officer:"Of course! But which one? A Mercedes, an Audi or a Ford?" Me:"I have no idea!" Officer:"So, you're drunk." Me:"But I didn't drink anything." Officer:"Okay, one more test -- Imagine, you drive in the dark on a highway at night, and there is one light coming at you. What is it? Me:"A motorcycle." Officer:"Of course! But which one? A Honda, a Kawasaki or a Harley?" Me:"I have no idea!" Officer:"As I suspected, you're drunk!" Then I started to get annoyed and asked a counter question. Me:"So..., counter question -- You're driving in the dark on a highway at night and see a woman on the roadside. She wears a mini skirt, fishnet stockings, high heeled shoes and only a bra as a top. What is this?" Officer:"A prostitute of course." Me:"Yes, but which one? Your daughter, your wife or your mother?" Things went downhill from there and now I have a court date to attend...

Kawasaki’s reproduction Z1 cylinder heads will sell for US$2370, including camshaft brackets, tappers, valves and peripheral parts, but not including camshafts, cylinder head cover, gaskets, etc. The heads feature the M8 exhaust-pipe-attachment stud bolt dimensions from later Z1 models, and do not fit the second-generation Kawasaki KZ1000 MKII and other so-called "square head" models. 17.01.2022 Hey Z Owners, Another successful Christmas party under our belts. The Z Owners partied from Brisbane to Yungaburra on the Atherton Tablelands, North Qld. We would like to give a special shout out to our President Wal and his beautiful wife Lisa for all the hard work and effort they put in to make our Brisbane Christmas party the success it was. The committee would like to thank all the members that helped setup and clean up after the event. A special thanks to Pop for lettin...g us use his acreage. The alcohol flowed freely, and the food was cooked to perfection by our cooks. The food just kept on coming. We were all very envious of our NQ brothers and sisters with the huge display of Z900’s. 15 lined the street side by side, ok maybe 14 + 1 Z900RS yes, we spotted the radiator guys. None the less what a sterling effort. Maybe next year we will do the same. We bid goodbye to 2020 in 25 days, and we say good riddance! Roll on 2021. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL.

17.01.2022 Hey Z Owners and friends see if this event interests you

16.01.2022 Hey Z Owners here is a little bit of QLD Z Owners nostalgia from early days.Photo of the Qld Z Owners with Sandy Harbutt. Taken after a pre-release showing of the documentary Stone Fore-ever, at the Dendy Theatre, in Brisbane. Thanx Miguel for the pic. If you have any pics send them in. Take The Trip Sandy.

16.01.2022 Sandy Harbutt (1941 - 22 November 2020) Farewelled Saturday December 5, 2020. You will be sadly missed however you will remain in our memories and on the screen forever. You have touched our lives in ways you could never have imagined from the early 70’s. I would have to say anyone who owned and still owns the Kawasaki Z900 would know your name and the famous Stone movie, the greatest motorcycle movie ever. You were truly a legend on and off the screen. Rest in Peace, Sandy.... What a fucken trip it’s been, hey! Do you want to know more? 11.01.2022 Hey Z Owners is it time to check the replacement value of your Z Sled make sure your insurance policy replacement value is up to date. I'm noticing a huge jump in sell prices of our beloved classic. In Australia it's not uncommon to see prices starting to nudge into the 30k mark. However I have also noticed a trend in the UK where fully restored Z Sleds have been hitting the $36000. One UK restorer is doing fantastic work. Want to know more? 10.01.2022 Hey Z Owners Time for some light reading on the Kawasaki's big boy on the block, the Z1300. 08.01.2022 Hey Z Owners, the Pre-Conondale Rally ride was great. After the group left the BP Caboolture we headed for Peachester on the Kilcoy-Beerwah Rd, then took the Burnett Ln shortcut to Green Park, Conondale. The Crimson Pirate AKA Lumpy took control of the discussion and all became clear - I think yes, definitely clearer. A decision was made to head to the Beerwah Hotel for lunch. Well I must tell you that our waiter Damon took a fancy to Lumpy and started calling him the Crimson Pirate. Lumpy, that name might just stick. The food was great, the ales flowed and after a hoot of a time we headed home. Conondale Rally 2021 will be firing on all cylinders this year. The camp area has been prepared and ready for action.

08.01.2022 Hey Z Owners I felt the funeral scene from Stone would be appropriate. For Dewey, Sandy and Hugh. https://youtu.be/6oOslwyyhBU

08.01.2022 Hey Z Owners OK this is not Z related however what are your thoughts on this conversation?

08.01.2022 Hey Z Owners just a quick update, if your heading for a ride to Mt Tamborine and want to head to Canungra via the Goat track or visa versa YOU CAN'T. Tamborine Mountain Road (locally known as the goat track) at Mount Tamborine is currently closed due to a serious landslide. This part of the road is expected to be closed for significant time. Please avoid the area.

07.01.2022 Hey Z Owners a bit of Z History. The Kawasaki Z1 was developed under the project name "New York Steak". In the late 1960s Kawasaki, already an established manufacturer of two-stroke motorcycles, had begun prototyping a 750 cc four-cylinder four-stroke sports motorcycle working with McFarlane Design in 1969 to develop the bike's overall appearance.] When Honda introduced the CB750 to the market first, Kawasaki postponed the Z1's release until its displacement could be increase...Continue reading

05.01.2022 Bp Blacksoil meeting point.

05.01.2022 Hey Z Owners 2021 is with us and here is the Motogp calendar for 2021. I can see lots of discussions on what brand and rider combo is best. Why this happened or why it didn't, who caused the off and why that rider shouldn't have one the race. Exciting times for 2021. And on a footnote Mark Marques is back for 2021 watch him carve up the opposition. GO MARQUES. Leave a comment on your choice for 2021.

05.01.2022 Hey Z Owners quick read on the Z1R. Kawasaki Z1-R Years produced: 1978 and 1980 Claimed power: 90hp @ 8,000rpm... Top speed: 132mph (period test) Engine type: 1,016cc air-cooled DOHC inline four Weight (dry): 245kg (541lb) (563lb w/half full tank) Price then: $3,695 Price now: $12,000-$22,000 MPG: 45 (avg.) The 1970s produced the most dramatic transformation the motorcycle industry has seen before or since. The Kawasaki Z1-R proves the point. In 1969, all street bikes were standards. Fairings were for race bikes. Twins dominated the big bike market. And big meant either a 650cc British bike or an overweight, underpowered 1,200cc V-twin from Milwaukee. Bikes leaked oil and were started with a kick; most small bikes were smoky 2-strokes and many needed pre-mix; wheels were wired, brakes were drums; and the ton (100mph) was a magic figure, often approached but rarely bettered. 04.01.2022 Fantastic day out with great company Thanks to all who attended Con’s Ride today.

03.01.2022 Hey Z Owners looks like today's ride was a well needed outing. Thanks for the photos Lumpy.

03.01.2022 Hey Z Owners some information on the Rickman brothers and the Kawasaki Rickman 900 CR. The brothers Derek and Don Rickman were in the 50's and 60 years of successful off-road racing driver in England and Europe. Developed in 1959 and built their first own competition motorcycle, the Rickman Metisse Mark I. A year later, they built the Model Mark II in 1962, the Metisse Mark III, which should be the basis for many successful bikes using a variety of engines. In 1966, the first... two road racing motorcycles were created in collaboration with Tom Kirby. These became very successful in racing, and subsequently certifiable street bikes were derived. In the 70's two new road models were presented: The Rickman CR 750 (Honda) and the Rickman CR 900/1000 (Kawasaki). 1976 Rickman Kawasaki CR Claimed power: 83hp @ 8,000rpm (claimed) Top speed: 130mph (period test) Engine: 1,016cc air-cooled DOHC inline four, 70mm x 66mm bore and stroke, 8.7:1 compression ratio Weight (wet/approx.): 479lb (217kg) Fuel capacity/MPG: 4.8gal (18.2ltr)/35-50mpg Price then/now: $1,335 (kit only)/$8,000-$18,000 (complete bike as of February 2015) Do you want to know more? 01.01.2022 Getting back to classic bike basics.

01.01.2022 Hey Z Owners, this year we had an epic Conondale Rally. We noticed lots of new faces and huge smiles all week end. The Kawasaki Z Owners would like to give a huge shout out to all the rally goers that attended our rally. We are all here to promote motorcycling at its best, you guys and gals are the greatest. This year we saw eight of our northern Z Owner brothers and sisters battle the cyclone and inclement weather to attend and help out. True Z Owner spirit. Next year is our 25th Conondale Rally, we would love to celebrate it with you.

01.01.2022 Hey Z Owners a little history lesson on Kawasaki and more. Kawasaki 900 Z1: putting the ‘Super’ in Superbike In 1972 Kawasaki was concerned that its new 900 Z1 superbike could be dangerous in inexperienced hands. And it had every reason to be, given that it set a new performance benchmark for mass-produced motorcycles that left Japan’s original superbike - Honda’s CB750 - in the shade.... Want to know more? 01.01.2022 Hey Z Owners just a quick reminder about Mike Kents ride tomorrow. And don't forget to adhere to the QLD Covid 19 restrictions.
