24.01.2022 #FunFact: The Fitzpatrick Scale of pigmentary phototypes, first developed in 1975, is still used by doctors today! This is used to estimate or measure the response of different types of skin to ultraviolet (UV) light and assess whether you might be at risk for certain side effects of hyper or hypo-pigmentation. Interested in which type are you? Check the scale here:... Type I always burns, never tans (palest; freckles) Type II usually burns, tans minimally Type III sometimes mild burn, tans uniformly Type IV burns minimally, always tans well (moderate brown) Type V very rarely burns, tans very easily (dark brown) Type VI never burns (deeply pigmented dark brown to darkest brown)

14.01.2022 Want to find out 7 things you didn't know about anti-wrinkle injections? Let's get started #1 There Is More Than One Brand of Wrinkle-Relaxing Injections Just as Thermos has become synonymous with vacuum flasks, Googling with online searches and Xerox with copy machines, a brand name is often used to refer to anti-wrinkle injections colloquially.... Not only is that brand name not the proper name for the treatment, it’s also not the only brand available. There are several brands that fall into the category of injectable wrinkle relaxers in Australia. Each one contains the same primary active ingredient, but they are formulated differently and made by different manufacturers. The results they offer are also subtly different, so it’s important to find an experienced practitioner who is well-versed in the options available. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3rWoKtO

11.01.2022 Men and women who want relief from dark circles under their eyes may be appropriate candidates for a tear trough treatment. In this treatment, I will place fillers into the tear trough depression under the eye using a cannula. These fillers will help to volumise the hollowness of the tear trough, and can also minimise the appearance of eye bags. The type of tear trough filler used is critical to getting a good result, as is the technique that is used. Find out more, here: https://bit.ly/3t2RSAC

08.01.2022 Our bodies were built to make positive use of the sun. In moderation, sunlight helps us produce vitamin D, keeps our sleeping patterns on track and enhances our mood. But there’s a dark side to sun exposure. Too much exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can lead to sunburn and skin cancers, and is the primary cause of premature skin ageing. Here’s what’s happening below the surface:... UVA light damages skin at all levels. In the dermis, or middle layer, it damages the collagen and elastin fibres that support the skin’s structure, which leads to decreased elasticity. This type of solar radiation can also affect epidermal cells found in the outer layer of skin and tiny blood vessels that become broken capillaries. UVB light primarily damages the epidermis, the topmost layer of the skin. It can trigger DNA changes at a cellular level and cause common signs of photoageing like wrinkles, pigmentation changes and degradation of skin texture. The following treatments can help minimise photodamage: chemical peels, dermal fillers, collagen stimulators, microneedling, Dermafrac, Omnilux. To receive a personalised treatment plan for sun damaged skin, request an appointment on my website!

08.01.2022 Contouring with makeup can create a temporary sculpted look like; defined lips, enhanced cheekbones and a sharp jawline. Dermal fillers can help you achieve these contoured features more permanently than makeup. Do you prefer contouring with makeup or fillers? Leave us a comment.

05.01.2022 Fun fact, both of these photos are taken with the patient raising his eyebrows. This simply illustrates the effect of botulinum toxin on the frontalis muscle. Horizontal forehead lines are caused by the contraction of the frontalis muscle, which is important for eyebrow elevation. Initially these lines only occur when we lift our eyebrows (dynamic lines), however over time they become permanently etched in the skin (static lines). Botulinum toxin if used early can prevent static lines from developing and soften those that are present. Book your botulinum toxin appointment with me:

04.01.2022 Yes, lip wrinkles are a real thing. As we age and our skin produces less collagen/moisture, our lips start to deflate, and you may notice vertical lines starting to form. These lines are difficult to conceal, and lipstick tends to settle in these lines, making them appear darker and deeper than they actually are. We wouldn't address lip wrinkles with anti-wrinkle injections. Instead, we would use dermal fillers to fill the lips back up to your natural fullness. This will smooth the lips and diminish lip lines or wrinkles.

04.01.2022 As we age, the natural contours of our face can change drastically. We may develop sunken cheeks, hollows around our eyes, lines on our forehead or creases around our mouth and chin. These changes aren’t just physical they can make us look tired, angry and unapproachable to others, and make us feel like a less vibrant person. The liquid facelift or ‘8-point facelift’ is gaining a great deal of attention as a nonsurgical alternative to the traditional facelift. This procedure offers patients a natural, fresh look with the benefits of immediate results and minimal recovery time. If you are interested, read the most recent blog on my website to learn more about the liquid facelift: https://bit.ly/2OxBr0z

04.01.2022 Dermal fillers are one of the most widely performed nonsurgical cosmetic treatments worldwide. Though they might now seem as commonplace as visiting a hairstylist or getting a manicure, it’s important to educate yourself on the details of this very real medical procedure and its potential side effects. Before you try fillers for the first time, make sure you ask these 7 questions: -Will I be treated by a fully qualified cosmetic doctor?... -What types of filler do you use? -What results are reasonable for me? -Can I see before and after pictures? -What is your plan in the event of a complication? -How should I prepare for the appointment? -Is the filler removable if I change my mind? Come to your consultation with any questions or concerns you may have. I will be more than happy to answer them, because when it comes to your face and health, there are no trivial questions.

01.01.2022 Chemical peels remove the outer layers of the skin to improve overall skin function and to enhance its appearance. I provide this treatment because it stimulates cell renewal and regenerates healthier skin. Peels are performed with regularity to promote healthy skin and enhance your appearance. Peels are normally categorised into three different strengths light, medium and deep. Examples of light peels are lactic, glycolic or salicyclic acid peels. These are used to treat... dry, dull skin, fine lines and acne and have minimal recovery time. Find out which peel is perfect for you: https://bit.ly/3ruVXN3
