24.01.2022 This video just makes me feel like refreshing my single canoe paddling skills and grabbing the little scamp out of the shop here and going for a paddle. Might have to wait for some rain though. I am thinking Owens Creek up the valley after some rain would be very similar paddling to this video.

24.01.2022 Amazing effort by Logan City Council, with facilities like this along the Pioneer River would be amazing.

21.01.2022 Paddle Queensland Awards for the year. Under these even tougher conditions congratulations to all.

20.01.2022 A fun paddle on Sunday with 12 paddlers turning up. From the boat ramp in River Street we paddled up the Pioneer River with the tide to Dumbleton and then return. We had some interesting moments during the day. The tide floading in to a height of 5.3meters made for some interesting rapids on the way. I was very impressed with evryone willng to have a go at paddling between the rocks, with little drops and standing waves to try them out. Some paddlers even turn around and had ...a go at paddling back through parts of the rapids. The comment was of surprize at how well the sea kayaks including the Mirages handled in the current. When we were nearly up to Dumbleton we stopped for a smoko break. Everyone thought it was a great joke, while we were sitting there for only about 15 minutes the water level rose 2 - 3 feet. We had to leave because the rocks we were sitting on, were going underwater. We even had to rescue a couple young fishermen who had got caught out by the rising water level. Most of us were feeling quite fatigued by the time we were back at to boat ramp after a 29 km paddle and the last few kilometers against a 15km/hr head wind, but still with smiles on their face. Thanks to everone who came along. Should have some more photos in the coming days. #mirageseakayak, #seakaayakingfun, #kayaksnthings, #pioneerriver, See more

17.01.2022 Some more photos from our paddle on Sunday. What a fun day, although a little exhausting. Call into kayaksnthings if you are interested in finding out more about our social paddles.

17.01.2022 Fishing, fishing fishing. Fishing kayaks everywhere. I know you could fish out of any kayak, but I am talking about kayaks with fishing accessories already a attached. I am talking rod holders, bait buckets, rails for attaching gear, extra storage or all of the above. Kayaksnthings has 7 different models of kayaks with at least some fishing gear attachments. All sorts of fishing kayaks from kids and up, even a double. From creeks or dams to estuaries and ocean kayak fishing. Photos of individual kayaks to follow, but now, call in and check them out. #kayaksnthings, #kayakfishing, #mackayliving, #mackayfishing, #YakFishing

16.01.2022 Well 2021 has started wet, wet, wet, but that doesn't stop us. in fact we love the rain because it makes the rivers flow and the grass green. It seems with 12 days in and already 4 paddles for the year we have started well. We have started our mid week training paddles again and going well. Also with the rain Cattle Creek was running just enough for a paddle from Uruba to Garget Sunday 3rd January, good fun for 9 paddlers. Last Sunday Cattle Creek and the Pioneer River was actually too high so we paddled Owens Creek which was good training for a couple of our new white water paddlers. Also this week the North Wall is pumping so get down there for a surf. Watch those big tides though.

16.01.2022 Great work with the video Matt, and it is great to have such a willing student. We had a fun afternoon learning new skills.

15.01.2022 Check out the Catalina from Koastal Kayaks, Kayaksnthings has a red yellow one in stock, but if you want a differet colour, look at what David can produce. They are made from a high quality plastic which turns out lighter to comparable kayaks the same size. Call into Kayaksnthings to check one out.

14.01.2022 This is Sea Kayaking Camping. How Much gear can you fit in a sea kayak? Let me tell you heaps. If it doesn't fit, just rearrange it. If it doesn't fit, one of your mates might have a bit of room left. Sea kayaking fun. #kayaksnthings, #seatosummit, #seakayaking, #seakayakcamping, #SeaKaayakingFun, #mirageseakayak

12.01.2022 This is Matthew taking the Mirage 532 Featherlight for a paddle a few weeks ago. He fell in love with it's stability, maneuverability and the lightness of this touring sea kayak. He then ordered his own with custom colours and fittings. If you would like to test paddle either the 532 or the other Mirages or any of the other demo kayaks in stock at @Kayaksnthings just call in to discuss. You can either come on one of our social paddles or arrange a private test paddle. Call into Kayaksnthings for a chat, we know kayaks and where the best spots are to go.

10.01.2022 Sunday's Social paddle, we paddled from the Mia Mia Bridge down the Pioneer River to Mirani Weir then a few kilometers up Cattle Creek before returning the same way. A return distance of about 22 kilometers. A beautiful morning up the river escaping the wind prevailing along the coast. The paddle involved all flat water because of the Mirani Weir. This is a very family friendly part of the river for anyone wanting to explore somewhere different. Unfortunately the Mia Mia bridge is the only public access to this part of the river. All along the river is either private property or Sun Water controlled. The top section of the this paddle near the Mia Mia Bridge is very shallow, but no problem for kayaks to paddle through. #kayaksnthings, #kayakfun, #freshwaterpaddle, #mackayliving, #mackaypride,

08.01.2022 Call into Kayaksnthings today, Christmas is not far away. Kids sit on top kayaks from $190.00. Adult sit on tops in stock from $590.00. Heaps of accessories, including all those fishing add ons. We are open till 1:00pm Saturdays.

07.01.2022 Last Sunday's Social Paddle by our group of enthusiastic Sea Kayaker - we paddled from Shoal point around to a reef just off Bucasia Beach then back around One Tree Island and Green Island and back into Shoal Point. Unfortunately one paddler became sea sick and had to make a return to Shoal Point. Thanks to Greg and Glen she made it back safe and sound. It was a beautiful day with a slight Easterly breeze. There was a lot of bate fish around and Colin in one of the sea kayaks received a huge bump and splash from an unknown fish , probably a tuna. There was plenty of bird life about and a lot of other action under the water. A great paddle, thanks to great company.

07.01.2022 With the end of 2020 nearly here a lot of people will be saying good ridens. From Kayaksnthings I would like to thank all customers and friends for this year's support. We and our social group still had heaps of adventures together even with socially distancing. We would like to look forward to a safe and prosperous new year 2021. We are hoping for more paddling and heaps of new adventures in the future. Video below is a quick look at the year that was 2020, thankyou. https://youtu.be/leuWJOgE1n8

06.01.2022 Most of these rules can apply to all kayaking, not just white water.

04.01.2022 One of the many great memories of paddling in this difficult year of 2020, but we haven't had it so bad when you have memories like this. This is paddling off Outer Newry Island Near Seaforth, 45 minutes north of Mackay Queensland June 2020. Why would you live or do anything else. Cheers to the year 2020. #mirageseakayak, #seakaayakingfun, #kayaksnthings, #mackaypride, #mackayliving.
