17.01.2022 I visited Spirit Rock a few years ago #beautiful and on RUOK day, I thought I’d share this great mantra. Apparently, Sylvia Boorstein repeats these words to herself when she’s feeling worried and anxious. #compassion #selfcare #ruok ps, thank you Richard Moore for creating that lovely memory

14.01.2022 Serial domestic violence offenders in Queensland are on notice. Taskforce Sierra Alessa has eyes on 319 offenders who are impacting the lives of 1,156 victims. ...One offender has seven domestic violence orders out against him. The ‘focused deterrent’ approach is commonly used by the Queensland Police DFV Vulnerable Persons Units, but this is the first time all 15 police regions have acted together. Some domestic violence prevention advocates want the State Government to introduce a register of serial offenders despite the Queensland Law Reform Commission ruling it out in 2017. The Commission cited concerns about cost, accuracy and giving victims a false sense of security. In 2014, the UK introduced Clare’s Law after Clare Wood was murdered by an ex-boyfriend who was known to be violent. A disclosure scheme has been piloted in NSW and South Australia. Taskforce Sierra Alessa runs for two months and will then be evaluated. Help is available to avert domestic tragedy. Call DV connect on 1800 811 811. www.7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS

08.01.2022 Catch up with Charlie 6 years on! It was fabulous to see this young man again after filming this story in 2014. How tall is he!? The Pyjama Foundation's unveiled it's First Nation’s Focus branding by the talented @RachelSarraCreative. 35% of the kids in care are indigenous and this is a wonderful reflection of their rich culture. The organisation has 1,400 generous volunteers supporting foster carers by reading and mentoring young people in care. And thumbs up to the State Government for announcing more funding over the next 4 years - ensuring more kids have brighter futures.

07.01.2022 The masquerade is finally over. Conan Martin Visser has pleaded guilty to domestic and family violence. This is a man who, until recently, posed as a kind hearted CEO of children’s charity I Can I Will claiming to support children who are being bullied. Turns out, Visser is the bully. ...Continue reading

02.01.2022 From the heart. This was one of the toughest events I’ve been involved in for a long time, but also one of the most important. Behind the launch of this world first memorial are stories of beloved children, mothers, wives sisters, aunts and friends whose lives were cut tragically short through violence. This website will ensure they and their stories are never forgotten. This is also a valuable resource for journalists, researchers and campaigners. Creator, Sherele Moody is a strong and resilient advocate and activist - her commitment to making this world a safer place for all is commendable www.theredheartcampaign Women in Media Women in Media Queensland #notnownotever #keepingkidssafe #endDFV

02.01.2022 This morning’s walk in honour of Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey was a relatively small and quiet affair due to Covid. But please, shout out loud about the importance of respectful relationships. Mums and Dads, talk to your kids about gender equality and kindness. Together we can #HALT domestic and family violence. 01.01.2022 On National Police Remembrance Day we remember those whose lives were cut tragically short while serving their community. To those families who have lost loved... ones, we grieve with you. While we can never take away the weight of your loss, across Australia, the entire policing family, is here to support you. To those who continue to serve, we thank you. #NeverForgotten
