17.01.2022 Let’s see how this unrolls. There are two very special cargo items on this truck leaving Bandeeka Simmental Stud in Western Australia making their 4000km trip to ‘Tallangatta’ north of Toowoomba in Queensland. Many thanks to Tony and Loreen Kitchen for keeping them safe until a truck could be arranged. There are 4 borders to cross all with very tight Covid restrictions. Safe travels Falls Livestock. They should be arriving early next week. I wish there was enough room on that truck for all that green pasture. Sorry girls it won’t look like that here

16.01.2022 RAW SCAN DATA completed today. Each of the scans are beneath the photos. I can say we are very proud of the performance and carcase traits. IMF and carcase quality traits are some traits we’ve included in the focus of our program for some time. The IMF you see in our bulls is very easily comparable to British breeds with the performance you expect from a European breed.

15.01.2022 I really hope we are able to get these cattle out to a heifer show or the 2021 show season. They are such lovely heifers and the simbrah bull is something else!!! Super excited to get them shown

15.01.2022 We finished the day with picking up the embryo calves from Mick & Toni Dwan (Elwanvale Stockhorses, Limousins and Hay). They have done an absolutely amazing job (as always) with these Bar 15 Miss Knight 78E-51G x Remington Generallee 106T calves. Amazing growth at 6 months!! We also got to drop in to see the cows about to be flushed...needless to say it won’t be long for KBV RIO (Simbrah) until he’s weaned!!

14.01.2022 Big weekend of BEEF2021 prep and checking cattle. We’ve been very fortunate with just over 6in of rain in the last 2 weeks which has saved our millet crop. We might just make hay farmers yet!!

14.01.2022 We’ve really been focusing on KBV Penfold but.....how about his polled brother KBV Potter (P) also by Legacy. He’s as long as a train and will sell directly after Penfold at the Meldon Park Sale in September. Just as sound 9 months younger than Penfold and the benefit of being polled. He’s 950kg @ 19mths

13.01.2022 We were overwhelmed with enquiries on our weaner and yearling heifers which was very nice. All our females we had for sale are now sold with the last of them being collected this morning. If we continue to get heifer calves then we will again sell some more. Congrats and thank you to those who have purchased them and we wish you all the very best.

07.01.2022 There’s only a week left until the sale. All the bulls have been vet examined and fully vaccinated. Pictured is Lot 3. KBV Penfold. He’s a mountain of meat and has a real soft deep muscle pattern. Semen morphology 87% and a whopping EMA 158cm. When balance, performance and a very good cow line is key this fellow just ticks so many boxes. Can’t wait to see many of you next Thursday at the Meldon Park Bull Sale, Billabong, Moura.

06.01.2022 This is KBV Quebec (P) an embryo sibling of KBV First Class (P) aka Frank. We are truely excited about his 12mth old bull that Lila is working with.

06.01.2022 Well today is flush day and we have more embryos than we know what to do with!!!! They were very good donors for their first flush. Thank goodness for freezing as the result was quadruple what we expected. Then you go through the Semen list here and look at the old gems in the list, I’d be sure that there would be limited numbers of these guys floating around in semen tanks in Australia and some of the bulls maybe the last around I’d say. Anyone would think I’m a collector, you never know we may just use some of these oldies in our AI program lined up for Saturday. #poddysforeveryone

02.01.2022 Simmental Australia has been notified of the passing of two young members of the Simmental family in a tragic car accident over the weekend. Our sincerest condolences go to the Martin and Wadley families of NSW and QLD. If you would like to help the family to ease some pressure, then follow the link below. Leo was a keen participant at the Queensland Simmental Youth Camps and will be surely missed by his family and friends.
