24.01.2022 Yesterday our Kindergarten children celebrated National Fairy Bread Day by making our own afternoon tea of fairy bread! After making a plan during a group discussion, took turns at the table to create our meals. We had so much buttering our own slices of bread and sprinkling rainbow 100’s and 1000’s all over our bread.

22.01.2022 This week we have been exploring all things Child Safety to align with National Child Safety week. Our Educators refreshed their skills earlier in the year updating their child Protection qualifications with In Safe Hands, this keeps us up to date with the most current legislation around our roles in keeping children safe from harm and supporting parents in their challenging roles. The children have been revisiting how to care for their bodies by washing hands to keep us safe... from germs, eat healthy foods to keep us strong and rest our bodies so we have lots of energy to use. The toddlers were involved in lots of modelling and conversation around feelings, an important part in learning when things dont feel right is learning what that feeling might look or feel like. The preschool children were involved in identifying 5 people in their live that made them feel safe, who they can talk to if they dont feel right. Child Safety week culminates with White ribbon day a day set aside to raise awareness of violence against women. As Early childhood Settings we would like to let all families know that in moments of crisis or even when you just need a ear or advise Educators and Centre Managers have a huge amount of resources at our disposal to help or point you towards. We are committed to supporting families in all aspects of raising childrensharing the good times and supporting in the bad. See more

22.01.2022 As a part of our Quality Improvement plan for Kids Capers Baldhills this month we are working on Quality Area4- Staffing arrangements. One of our Managers showed us a great resource in the 5 Love Languages Quiz (Thanks Miss Terri). As a fun exercise in finding out more about ourselves and each other we undertook the 5 Love Languages quiz. There was lots of giggles and realisations from the team as we begin to understand how we best receive appreciation and love within the w...orkplace. As a team we will use this to show each other appreciation for efforts in the best way the other person receives it. I encourage you to undertake this in your own life to build stronger connections with those around youthere is even a childrens version of this quiz so you can get an idea of how to share and show love with your child at home.Happy Quizzing See more

22.01.2022 Contact with nature may be as important to children as good nutrition and adequate sleep (Gill 2005). As adults we cognitively understand the need to have children in and surrounded by the natural world but as very busy Adults sometimes we lack the time to make this a reality. The Baldhills educators work very hard to harness childrens natural curiosity about the natural world, to touch, smell, dig and explore as all children should. We look for ways to incorporate nature... into learning and how the land and people are interconnected. This week we received a special gift of a Bee chart from the Murphy family and it reignited a deep curiosity we had earlier in the year around Bees and flowers. We had recently been exploring the touch and smell of flowers then trying to make our own flowers from playdough outside. This most recent gift had us rethinking the role and value of bees and how we can keep them safe. If you would like some simple ways to get your child immersed in nature maybe try some of these: Grow flowers or vegetables in wooden planter boxes. Go on I Spy walks in your neighborhood. Rediscover your own sense of wonder. Make a bird feeder to attract birds. Happy Exploring!!

19.01.2022 As a part of our commitment to Quality Area 2 children’s health and safety we had the DITTO show visit us at Baldhills today. They talked about feeling safe and yes or no feelings and the parts of our body that belong to us and how to look after ourselves. The children were really excited to have these visitors to the centre. Ditto the lion is the mascot for the Brave Hearts Program and through age appropriate language story and dance they give children a sense of knowing what feels safe and what an unsafe feeling looks like. #bravehearts

19.01.2022 Get moving with your little one A walk through nature, taking the time to notice all the things around encourages children to observe the natural environment. It can be fun in the cold, in wet weather or even as it heats up!

16.01.2022 We couldn't say it better ourselves!

15.01.2022 Excursions are such an exciting part of a child’s early education. They expose a child to a range of different experiences and enable them to gain a sense of the world in which they live. Excursions encourage a child to explore the unfamiliar and observe their surroundings. Today our Dingo children ventured over to Bald Hills State School to play and start their journey of familiarising themselves with school life and routines. We used the playground to participate in some fun activities including running races, parachute play and nature exploration. We ended the morning with a story from our Acting Support Manager Miss Katie who also helped out for the day.

15.01.2022 As the weather warms up and we hit the water remember the importance of water safety and teaching your little swimmers "safety first"! Kids Alive is a great resource for parents with lots of tools to help you teach water safety.

15.01.2022 One of our Kindy children has been busy planning and selecting resources to create a Robot called Orbit. As children become more independent and confident in their play, it opens up opportunities for them to generate strategies for problem solving, applying strategies for investigating and making links between learning. And all of this great learning is happening while being busy at play!

15.01.2022 I could just stand here for the rest of my life one of our Dingoes children exclaimed when he found our new residents! Today we welcomed Mr and Mrs Duck to our Bald Hills family. We cant wait to see some exciting learning emerging from these new additions.

14.01.2022 ! Tomorrow we raise funds for the Starlight Foundation with a popcorn and movie day! When a once-bright life is dulled by needles, hospital visits and painful treatments, Starlight helps sick kids forget they're sick for a while and re-discover the joy of childhood.... This is why we are helping to raise funds for Starlight. Did you know? - Each month over 43,000 kids and teens will be admitted to hospital - Almost 1 in 2 children admitted to hospital will be babies or toddlers - The need for Starlights programs will grow by 70% in the next 5 years.

13.01.2022 Meet Miss Kari our Nursery Room Leader and general baby whisperer. Kari has been with us since 2018 and has recently stepped up into the role of Nursery Lead Educator. She has been very studiously completing her Diploma of Childrens services having already held a certificate 111 within the industry and many years experience. Did you know in Karis past life she was a Barber.a lady of many talents indeed. Thankyou Kari for being a part of the Baldhills team.

13.01.2022 Today we had a very special visitor to our centre - Lieutenant Sarah Cairns from the Gallipoli Barracks at Enoggera. Sarah arrived in her army uniform to talk to the children about Anzac Day and her life in the Army. Everyone was immediately intrigued as Sarah talked and showed us some special pieces she and her husband had collected during their years in the Army. Do you know what Anzac Day is? (Sarah asked) Our children were very clever in their response and replied - "When... the soldiers go to war so we can live here". The children have a fascination with all things to do with the past. By learning through hands-on, sensory and real-life experiences about ANZAC Day, our children will have an opportunity to understand the meaning and importance of this national day. See more

12.01.2022 A big part of our program here is the Excursion experience we offer to our children throughout the year. This morning it was the Sugar gliders turn to wander across the road and have a nature adventure, draw some pictures of everything we can see shared morning tea and a story. Sometime the best part of an excursion is the journey to get there and crossing the road at the traffic light was a big test and learning opportunity for our little Sugar Glider friends. They were such great ambassadors for Kids Capers Baldhills in how amazingly they behaved in our big wide world.

11.01.2022 We had a lovely morning tea at Bald Hills State School this morning and an opportunity to meet and network with other local Kindy’s. We were presented with a wonderful book from Mrs Dickson that they made especially for us which we read to our children when we returned. Thanks for having us!

10.01.2022 Kids Capers Childcare provides a play-based learning program, we believe it is through play that children make sense of their world, and build knowledge upon previous experiences.

10.01.2022 ! Today marks the start of National Child Protection Week. Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare.

10.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day, of the 11th month we will remember them. They shall not grow old as we are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we Forget. Today we paused to remember those who gave their service for their country. As educators we set provocations to engage children in learning about the significance of this day. There were stained glass abstract poppies, red play dough with added rosemary sprigs, poppy collages and many more exciting activities, all inspired by the growing fields of poppies and rosemary. At 11am, we took the opportunity to engage in our monthly lock down drill, using this time to observe a minute of silence and listen to the last post throughout the classrooms.

09.01.2022 The educational leader of Kids Capers play a significant role in guiding and developing educators and families understandings about play and leisure-based learning, and the significance of the early years in the education continuum for children. Today our team had the opportunity to step away from our regular Zoom meetings and come together at our Scarborough Centre to chat about and collaborate on how amazing and exceeding our program is, and ways we can do even more for childrens learning. 08.01.2022 Today was a big day for the littlest members of our Kids Capers Baldhills team. After weeks of planning we took our nursery children out for a play at the park. The first part of the adventure was the lovely walk through our local community to the park. Once there we found ourselves a shady spot under a tree to have a rest and a story with Miss Kari. We then decided to cautiously explore the equipment, some of us loved the texture of the soil at the park, others loved to big coloured counting balls and the slide was a fun thing to test our skills on. When we started to get tired we all jumped back in our big red bus (4 baby stroller) and had a leisurely walk back to the centre for lunch and a well earned rest.

07.01.2022 At Kids Capers Baldhills we harness a childs inner desire to help and be helpful by offering opportunities to be a part of actively helping take care of our environments. We hope to instil this feeling of accomplishment and helpfulness so that it continues in the home environment and beyond. Dont be afraid to allow your child some ownership over chores, if they dont practice they will never have the opportunity to learn. Being involved in chores also gives children experie...nce of relationship skills like communicating clearly, negotiating, cooperating and working as a team. When children contribute to family life, it helps them feel competent and responsible.. And sharing housework can also help families work better and reduce family stress. When children help out, chores get done sooner, and parents have less to do. This frees up time for the family to spend doing fun things together. Children can help out around the house in many different ways. For example, they can simply go outside to play when the grown-ups need to do big jobs in the house. Some families expect older children to help with younger children amusing them, distracting them, protecting them and so on. Here are some ideas for chores for children of different ages. Toddlers (2-3 years) Pick up toys and books. Put clothes on clothes hooks. Set placemats on the dinner table. Preschoolers (4-5 years) Set the table for meals. Help with preparing meals, under supervision. Help put clean clothes into piles for each family member, ready to fold. Help with grocery shopping and putting away groceries. Hand you wet clothes to be hung out to dry.
