20.01.2022 I'm calling Bullshit. Personally, I don't believe in these claims coming from America. Especially when you don't know who they people sponsoring the research is (most likely in support of sugar). Nonetheless, our brain is 60% fat and requires healthy saturated fats to keep it in an optimal state. Coconut oil is made up of medium chain fatty acids and is delivered straight to our liver and converted into energy, not stored as fat. I see it like this: Eat food that your body recognises (fats!) and it'll understand what to do with it and how to use it as long-burning energy. If you eat crap made from chemicals and high in sugar, it'll freak your body out causing it to create fat cells to store it and deal with it later.

Pushing ourselves totally outside of our comfort zone for the only reason to "Let's just give it a go" has been so scary! But, no matter how much uncertainty arose, the voice that was ALWAYS in the back of our mind: "Come on! What's the worst that could happen?!". And then, we'd be off again! Give things a go and trust that life will ALWAYS work out. Stop asking yourself 'what if this happens or that happens or I can't...'. Be fearless and doors (hopefully as pretty as this one!) will open.

10.01.2022 Newly fascinated by the idea of intermittent fasting. Sooo many people have been trying and loving it lately. I struggled a little with putting meals together as I’m not too fond of soy as I swear it makes me cranky and crazy! Beans and hummus are generally the easiest foods to prep, but they are also be quite...uninspiring! So, my fav go to is plonking whatever is in my fridge (or Mum’s veggie garden ) onto the bench, chop it all up, bang it in a healthy wrap (quinoa ones are my fav) and voila! I used to fight through signs of a cold or flu and try to 'tough it out' only to wind up worse. Now, I listen and respond with whatever my body wants. 07.01.2022 My Monday morning tips on how to combat the attitude you get when starting a health kick. It's incredible how many people LOVE to have an opinion when you embark on a healthier lifestyle. You hear things like, "Oh you're not doing one of those fads, are you?" Or one of my favourites is "I hope you don't turn into one of those people...". It can be so incredibly empowering to make a healthy change and so disheartening when you don't have the support of those around you. But ...remember, it's their own insecurities coming out as they don't believe they have the same courage and bravery you do to make a change (help them see it!!). The best thing you can do in this situation is combat it with absolute positivity and confidence. Be so happy in your decision that you leave no room for them to comment. 01.01.2022 If there is one thing I've learned working with health clients, it's that those who start small, see the biggest results. My health tweaks this week include: drink more water, walk daily & make more time for others. What are yours? I'd LOVE to hear! x

01.01.2022 So. In the essence of 'finding your own groove', I've come to realise that my 'grooves' are continuously changing. What my body wants and needs is always different, depending on what's consuming my time and energy. When I worked in a full-time gig, my body craved fresh air, lots of time to 'switch off', strict night time routines and long runs. Coffee made me anxious. Now, I work from home for the majority of the week. I love weight training and blasting loud music, working u...ntil 10 or 11pm each night, getting up stupidly early and drinking too much coffee. I still make sure I get my greens in and eat relatively clean, but despite different routines, eating and exercise habits, I feel pretty darn good. My word of advice to myself (and for anyone who needs it) is; let yourself go with the flow, understand your body will want different things on a daily basis and learn to tune in and listen. Just because others have said you 'shouldn't' or 'should' do something doesn't make it right for you at that time. Heck, drink wine each night and eat chocolate every day. Small amounts won't kill you. What will, however, is coming at things from a place or fear, guilt or hate. Love yourself enough to give it what it wants and enjoy your life. I guarantee you'll end up choosing nourishing foods and positive self-talk that nourishes the soul. #foodforthought #findyourgroove #beyou #coffeeart
