25.01.2022 KCGM’s Super Pit is one of Australia's largest open pit gold mines in terms of size, producing around 500,000 ounces of gold each year (around 14,000 kilograms). For every 1 million tonnes of ore extracted from the Super Pit, there are between 250 and 300 kilograms of gold. This amazing photo was taken over the Super Pit last week.

23.01.2022 As part of KCGM, Saracen Mineral Holdings and Northern Star Resources’ $150,000 partnership with Foodbank Kalgoorlie, set up in response to COVID-19 earlier in the year, the branch has hired a much needed new forklift. The forklift has a smaller turning circle which will allow Foodbank to reconfigure the warehouse, create more space and functionality, and provide an improved shopping experience for their customers. . .... 22.01.2022 KCGM Mine Surveyors James and Sam spent the morning at East Kalgoorlie Primary School recently, teaching the students about drones. They explained their jobs and how drones are used in mining before undertaking a demo flight on the oval. The children were then able to try out the interactive drone simulator to fly over the Super Pit. Thanks for having us EKPS
21.01.2022 KCGM partnered with over 30 Kalgoorlie-Boulder community organisations through our Community Investment Program in 2020. That might explain why the majority of Local Voices respondents last quarter agreed that KCGM’s social investment activities have a positive impact on the Goldfields community. One of KCGM’s community partners is the Golden Mile Loopline Railway Society Inc - Kalgoorlie Boulder WA Australia, who operate the historic Tram tours in partnership with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Visitor Centre. These tours depart Monday to Saturday from the Visitor’s Centre, exploring Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s rich history and attractions. What do you think of KCGM’s social investment activities? 20.01.2022 Local Jobs, Local Content | KCGM and Joint Venture owner Northern Star, attended the launch of the Goldfields-Esperance (GE) Business Register with Premier Mark McGowan last week. The new online business capability register will boost local opportunities for Goldfields-Esperance businesses by connecting them with mining companies and major suppliers in our region. Last financial year KCGM spent over $324 million with local suppliers, and this register will help us more easily connect with Kalgoorlie-Boulder businesses. Thanks to Bodean and the team at Cooper Fluid Systems for hosting us.
20.01.2022 Did you know KCGM monitors dust from our operations 24/7? We also employ a range of dust management strategies to minimise potential community impacts. These include: Progressive rehabilitation, with KCGM currently rehabilitating approximately 3,000 hectares of land the equivalent of 1,500 football fields.... Suspending or delaying activities (such as blasting) depending on weather conditions. Using water carts on haul roads and active mining areas. Water carts spray hypersaline water in operational areas, which is five times saltier than sea water and occurs naturally in the Goldfields. The salt forms a crust on the road, greatly reducing the amount of airborne dust. Local Voices helps us to track how the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community perceives our environmental impacts, including how we manage dust, noise and vibrations. Are you registered? 20.01.2022 Today is World Water Day. Water is vital to mining, and Northern Star and KCGM are committed to using and managing water sustainably. On average, of the 14,000 megalitres used by KCGM annually, only 13% is potable water from the Goldfields water supply. Majority of our water usage, approximately 77%, is from recycled process water, dewatering operations, and seepage recovery. The remaining 10% is hypersaline water obtained from groundwater. Water scarcity affects more than 40...% of the world’s population, and Northern Star is committed to sharing how our business supports the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. This includes Goal 6: Ensuring access to water and sanitation for all. Discover more about Northern Star’s Sustainability Vision in our 2020 Sustainability Report: www.nsrltd.com/sustainability

18.01.2022 KCGM has been operating alongside the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community for over 30 years, and we're proud to have strong, established relationships with local residents, businesses and community groups. As a neighbour, we are conscious of our potential impacts and monitor dust, noise and vibrations from our operations 24/7. We also employ a range of strategies to minimise environmental impacts, including suspending or delaying activities (such as blasting), progressive rehabilita...tion, and continually using water carts on haul roads and active mining areas. KCGM’s water carts use hypersaline groundwater, which is ten times saltier than sea water and occurs naturally in the Goldfields. The salt forms a crust on the road and greatly reduces the amount of airborne dust. 17.01.2022 GIDJI TAILINGS STORAGE FACILITY KCGM will be seeking approval from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Mining Act 1978 to construct a new Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) at its Gidji Gold Processing Plant, located 17 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The construction of a new single cell TSF (Gidji III) will allow for the... continuation of KCGM’s operations, support KCGM’s current life of mine tailings storage requirements and provide ongoing economic and employment benefits to the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community. The Gidji TSF Extension has been designed to the relevant codes and guidelines including the DMIRS Code of Practice for Tailings Storage Facilities in Western Australia and the Australian National Commission on Large Dams Guidelines. The project will require increasing the approved development envelope by 35 hectares for TSF and associated infrastructure and 32 hectares for Closure Stockpiles (e.g. topsoil) required for mine closure. Baseline environmental assessments indicate that the proposal is unlikely to result in any significant additional or different impacts to the environment and no impacts to conservation, significant flora, vegetation or fauna. For further information on the project, please view the information sheet (http://www.superpit.com.au//09/GIDJI-III-TSF-INFO-SHEET_3.). Information on KCGM’s water and tailings management can also be found on the website. Questions or feedback can be directed to KCGM’s Public Interaction Line on (08) 9022 1100.

16.01.2022 We encourage local residents to contact any of the KCGM Community Reference Group (CRG) members for information about our operations or to express views, opinions or concerns. Established over 20 years ago, the CRG represents and is chaired by members of the local community who meet monthly to discuss operational impacts, future developments and potential opportunities for Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The CRG is a valuable mechanism for KCGM to connect with the local community, ensuring feedback is considered and incorporated into its operations: www.superpit.com.au/community
16.01.2022 Did you notice a bit of extra dust towards the top end of town this afternoon? For the first time today, KCGM blasted in a new area of the Fimiston Open Pit called Oroya Brownhill. Located at the far northern end of the Pit, up until today our team has been mining in this new area without having to blast. As we get deeper into the ground, the soil has transitioned from oxide to hardrock. To move the rock safely and efficiently, it has to be blasted. Today’s blast moved a mass...ive 500,000 tonnes of rock. KCGM closely monitors wind conditions in the lead up to all blasts to minimise the potential dust impact. Today’s blast saw very low wind speeds, resulting in the dust remaining above the Pit longer than expected. You can contact KCGM about our operations any time via our Public Interaction Line on 9022 2604, or register for Local Voices: www.voconiqlocalvoices.com/kalgoorlie-boulder

12.01.2022 When the Fimiston Open Pit was first mined in 1989, its projected operating life was just 14 years to 2003. In 2020, KCGM’s mine life was extended by another 15 years to 2035. While KCGM continues to look for opportunities to extend mine life, it must also plan for closure. KCGM’s strategy is to adopt post closure land uses which do not preclude future mining in prospective areas on the Golden Mile. This will allow for future mining development opportunities which will support the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community long into the future.
