24.01.2022 Today we bade farewell to our beautiful Miss Chantelle who has been a cherished member of our leadership team here @ Kids Capers Mango Hill. Chantelle will be embarking on a new role within our Kids Capers company and we know she will continue to be amazing in her new endeavour. This one’s for you Chantelle ..

24.01.2022 Today we did a room reveal for our educators @ Kids Capers Mango Hill! Each of them had to consume their ‘frog in a pond’ to find out their roles for 2021. They also found out the rooms they are allocated to and who’ll be their working partner for next year. There was a buzz of excitement as each educator ate through their chocolate Freddo and jelly to see what is written at the bottom of the cup. We can’t wait to share this exciting news with our families by the end of this week.

23.01.2022 We believe in acknowledging and teaching, through play, the true histories of Australia to promote a sense of understanding, connection and respect for Australia’s First Peoples, and for the land which we learn on and care for. As an organisation, we are committed to raising awareness about reconciliation, with the goal of encouraging all people in the broader community to embrace reconciliation and work towards reparation and healing for the Land’s First Peoples. Today our educational leaders met to share each Centre's journey towards reconciliation, sharing ideas to further empower our educators to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective in all aspect of the program.

23.01.2022 Yesterday our kindergarten children who are going to Prep next year had their Graduation Photo Day with photos taken by Northpoint Photos. We can’t believe how quickly this year has gone as we are now just weeks away from their graduation ceremony! Our Dingoes room will be having theirs on Wednesday, 16th December, and the Echidnas room on Thursday 17th, starting at 6.30pm. Both parents are invited to attend. If you haven’t sent your RSVP, drop an email to [email protected].

23.01.2022 Mindfulness is an amazing state and provides children with simple, practical tools to work directly with their nervous systems, helping them regulate emotional states and focus attention.

23.01.2022 What an amazing Book Week we’ve had! There were superheroes aplenty, princesses and fairies, witches and wizard, grumpy bears and adorable trolls. More importantly, we certainly weren’t lacking in sharing and reading of books across the centre. Thank you to our families and educators for making it a fun week @ Kids Capers Mango Hill!

23.01.2022 Fancy an ice latte over a hot cuppa in this summer heat? Our kitchen is also offering cold coffee or ice chocolate, in addition to the usual hot drinks. Come place your order with our barista when you drop off the children between 7.00-9.00am.

21.01.2022 We have been busy getting ready for our special visitors tomorrow..

20.01.2022 And just like that, in 14 months we have built a beautiful Early Learning play space for children from 6 weeks to Prep here at Kids Capers Samford

20.01.2022 Educators in the Echidnas room have been setting up different literacy and numeracy based activities during group time as we continue to build on our kindergarten children’s knowledge and interest to get them ready for Prep. This week for example, children were encouraged to spot their own printed names first and verbalise the letters of their names if they can. Next, Miss Tui selects a number for them to identify, then they have to count using concrete materials. This is termed one to one corespondence - the ability to pair counted objects with a number word. Next week, our Echidnas will also be having a transition visit to Mango Hill State School. These builds up the excitement as well about going to ‘big school’ next year!

20.01.2022 As the weather warms up and we hit the water remember the importance of water safety and teaching your little swimmers "safety first"! Kids Alive is a great resource for parents with lots of tools to help you teach water safety.

20.01.2022 The grey skies and muggy weather certainly didn’t dampen our spirits from having fun exploring bubbles today!! From bubble painting to having a bubble disco outdoors and giving babies bubble baths, there were bubbles here, there and everywhere across our centre. Bubble play is a great way of getting the children up and moving while developing gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness and social skills.

20.01.2022 Why try to explain miracles to your children when you can just have them plant a garden - Robert Brault

19.01.2022 Don't forget to Slip, Slop and Slap!!

19.01.2022 We would like to thank Amelia’s nanna for spending some time this morning with our kindergarten children in the Dingoes room in conjunction with Grandparents Day! Some of our children were also involved in making some beautiful cards that they would give to their grandparents. Our heartfelt thanks to Sebella’s grandparents too who dropped by this afternoon with some treats that was shared with our educators.

18.01.2022 This morning our kindergarten children in the Dingoes and Echidnas had a special friend visiting their room. It was Ditto the lion from Bravehearts! He is a very brave lion but he told the children sometimes he can feel uncomfortable or unsafe. We learnt that is ok to feel uncomfortable and it is ok to say no if someone is doing something we don’t like. You run and you tell someone, said the children. They also learnt how to identify NO feelings and who they can trust if they need (your family, your teachers or the police). Thank you Ditto for dropping by today to share with our children ways to keep themselves safe.

18.01.2022 This afternoon the Centre participated in a Fire Drill as part of our monthly emergency procedures. The educators evacuated the children to our nominated area and accounted for all children in less than 2 minutes. We talked about what happened with the children afterwards, I asked what happened just then? one friend said we went to the babies yard and another followed saying yeah, because we had a fire drill when the first friend said AGAIN, because we always do them. The children are recognising that this is normal practice and following the educators instructions with ease while understanding what is going on around them.

18.01.2022 Come along to meet your child’s educators for the year! RSVP to ‘[email protected]’.

18.01.2022 Samford update..... The Kitchen is the of the home In the midst of our 6 buildings, our oversized kitchen and eating area is almost complete! ... This is where the children will gather for freshly cooked meals throughout the day. Check out this weeks menu, our menus are seasonal and on a four week rotation. The menus are constructed with input from Families, Chidlren, Educators and the community.

17.01.2022 An Art Provocation, also called an Invitation to Create, is a thoughtfully set up prompt that provokes children to create, ask questions, test ideas, and think independently, all while exploring with art materials. Here at Kids Capers Mango Hill we take great pride in nurturing our children’s understanding of the world around them

17.01.2022 To begin our Naidoc week and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, we started our day by doing our acknowledgement to country. This is our way of showing respect to the traditional owners of the land. The children were excited to come together and listen to the educators before placing their hands on our yarning mat. The children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities while continuing to develop their understanding and respond to diversity with respect. The message for Naidoc week this year is Always was, Always will be.

17.01.2022 Should I let my child climb a tree? At Kids Capers Mango Hill, we do! Risk-taking is an essential feature of play, providing children with challenges and stimulating them to learn. However, our educators are mindful of the need to strike a balance between offering risk and keeping children safe. Here we have our senior toddlers from the Wombats room exploring one of the trees at our natural playground. They do love ‘monkeying’ around with their peers!

17.01.2022 Managing our emotions is hard whether you are two, four or forty! Teaching our children how to manage their feelings and emotions is such an important life skill for young children as they develop their emotional regulation. Our pre-kindy children have been exploring emotions using puzzles that displays different facial expressions. This gives our educators an opportunity to start having discussions about the different emotions we can have, sometimes all on the same day, and what we can do when we feel sad, upset or anxious. One of our children is also good at demonstrating to us what his face looks like when he feels angry and scared !

16.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that came by this evening for our Kindergarten Information Night, particularly our kindy educators for organising it. A special thanks to Mr Brendan Shields from Mango Hill State School and our parent speaker, Miss Putri Humble, for sharing further information on how our kindergarten program can prepare your child for ‘big school’. If you miss out this evening but would like further information, feel free to send us an email or give us a ring.

15.01.2022 Ahoy there! As requested by our kindergarten children, today we organised ‘Dress Like A Pirate Day’! We saw lots of little pirates who were also kept busy with pirate-themed activities such as going on treasure hunts, creating hats and painting eye patches. We do love our dress up days!

13.01.2022 Our kindergarten children in the Echidnas room had fun recently learning about colour mixing and how to create a consistent texture simply by utilising icing sugar, food colouring and plain biscuits. Our Early Childhood Teacher, Miss Tui, planned this learning experience combining sensory and science concepts. The children worked fairly independently throughout the process while sharing their thoughts and discoveries confidently with peers and educators. This allowed the children to exercise their sense of agency while exploring colours and of course having a taste of their own creation!

12.01.2022 Tomorrow our kindergarten rooms will be hosting Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show! Starring Bravehearts’ lovable lion cub Ditto, alongside a specially trained presenter, this fun, interactive live show teaches children essential personal safety skills and knowledge using age-appropriate language, song, and dance. If your child is attending kindy tomorrow, have you made payment yet?

12.01.2022 Have you noticed any changes at our front office lately? What may seem like just a blank notice board will actually be used to display our Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). A QIP is a living document that identifies a service centre’s goals for quality improvement and notes some strategies for achieving those goals. We want our QIP display to be accessible to all our families and educators so that anyone can contribute towards it. It’s still a work in progress but watch this space for more updates!

12.01.2022 There is so much to know about these interesting little guys! Over the world there are over 20,000 species. Queensland has its own World of Bees and chances are you have been seeing them out and about as the weather warms up!

12.01.2022 In a world where you can be anything - be kind At Mango Hill today we focused on Kindness day and how small gestures can make a big difference. Today our children participated in activities relating to kindness, the educators then used this as an opportunity to talk about various ways we can show kindness to others!

11.01.2022 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at our centre...that’s because we know for sure that Santa Claus will be dropping by at our Children’s Christmas Party that is happening tomorrow. Can’t wait!!!

11.01.2022 Did you know that playing peekaboo stimulates a toddler’s senses, builds their gross motor skills, strengthens visual tracking, encourages social development and, best of all, tickles their sense of humour? Look at our friends in the Possums room enjoying a game of peekaboo in their little tent!

11.01.2022 3, 2, 1...GO! What a ball we had with our very own Mango Hill Cup today!! With very adorable pool noodle horsies, thanks to our crafty Miss Tui, children and educators had fun getting engaged in some competitive races outdoors. Even our educators couldn’t resist! The children may not realise the significance of today’s event as part of Australia’s history. Nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to get crafty creating fancy hats while also getting involved in fun activities to build healthy relationships with their peers and educators.

11.01.2022 Continuing with our Naidoc celebrations for the week, we had many different activities taking place across the centre. Our younger children made Aboriginal flags using pieces of coloured card and glue. They have also enjoyed doing some stick paintings this week. We also had some kindness rocks found and the children wanted to make their own. They then painted some which we will keep to represent the kindness we encourage. Our pre kindy children have explored indigenous symbol...s and various puzzles. The children in the Sugar Gliders also enjoyed making a new yarning mat by painting their hands and placing them on the material. This is something they plan to use when doing their Acknowledgment to country. Some of our Kindy children did painting this morning using natural materials from the garden to make a bird representing the book ‘How the birds got their colours’. See more

11.01.2022 One of our outdoor playground received a facelift yesterday! Thanks to our maintenance man, Steve, the floorboards of the outdoor fort have been replaced after years of getting trampled and stomped on - just one of many exciting changes we are introducing over the next few weeks as we gradually welcome our children back from holidays and say ‘hello’ to new families joining our community. Watch this space for more updates!

10.01.2022 We know that 2020 has been an unprecedented year of challenges for some of our educators and families. However, as you can see from these beautiful snapshots, we also have a lot to be thankful for this year as we celebrate the successes and development of our little ones, and look forward to embracing a fresh journey in 2021. Happy New Year to all our families!

09.01.2022 This afternoon our centre conducted our Monthly Lockdown Drill, our whole centre was in complete lockdown and all children accounted for in under 5 minutes. One of our educators thought it was a great idea to tell the children it was a game of hide and seek to ensure that they stayed calm and quiet, this worked fantastically and after the drill our educators discussed what did happen and the importance of staying quiet, all of our friends were so quiet and calm during this time. I am truly so proud of them all!

08.01.2022 Earlier today, a group of our kindergarten children and their younger siblings had an exciting adventure going on an excursion to Kids Capers Childcare Scarborough! The buzz of excitement started from the bus ride itself - a first for some of them. Once we reached our destination, the children were able to explore the beautiful indoor and outdoor places of our latest Kids Capers centre that is due to be opened this January. We also participated in a fire drill under the watchful eyes of fire officers from the Redcliffe Fire Department and Incendia Fire Services. At the end of the practice, the children showed their appreciation by giving out ‘thank you’ cards that they’ve helped to create prior to our visit.

08.01.2022 As suggested by our families, today we had a ‘Dress Up As Your Favourite Animal Day’! We love seeing the adorable animal outfits throughout the centre. Educators also used this opportunity to extend on the children’s interest and knowledge about animals. Our little toddlers in the Possums room went to visit our chickens in the coop, giving them a feed with their leftover morning tea. Meanwhile, our senior toddlers in the Wombats room used their imagination and fine motor skills to create animal faces on paper plates. What’s your favourite animal??

08.01.2022 What a wonderful morning we had @ Kids Capers Mango Hill as we celebrated Christmas with our children and families! A big ‘thank you’ to all our families who participated to make it a memorable event for the children. We are also thankful to our very cheerful Santa-in-thongs who braved the heat to greet the children and gave out candy canes. Lastly, to our wonderful Team Mango who has put in so much effort this week and today to ensure this event ran smoothly. We feel so blessed to be a part of this beautiful community!

07.01.2022 This afternoon we called out a fire drill at our centre in a continued effort to familiarise all children and educators with our evacuation plans in the event of a real emergency. All the children and educators gathered outside the Nursery and Toddler’s yard in under 5 minutes. We also had two of our parents who participated and assisted during the practise, ensuring that every child and educator is accounted for. Here @ Kids Capers Mango Hill, fire drills and lock down practices are being conducted on different days of the week in order to familiarise all children to the process, limiting stress and panic in the event of a real evacuation.

07.01.2022 Did you know that we have Miss Liana join the centre every Friday to run a Chinese lesson as part of our Kindergarten Program? Miss Liana's lessons include counting, singing and speaking in Chinese and Auslan, the Kindy kids have taken great pride in these lessons, this morning when I walked into the Dingoes room to see how the lesson was going the Dingoes greeted me by confidently asking "How are you today?" using their knowledge of Chinese and Auslan!

07.01.2022 Did you know that playing with balls can provide a ton of developmental benefits for children? Ball play builds hand eye coordination, tracking skills, gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness and also provides opportunities for social interaction. Look at our little ones in the nursery room having a ball!

05.01.2022 Puzzles can be a great tool for teaching young children about the concept of a 'whole' and that each piece is a fraction of the bigger picture. It also helps develop basic skills such as shape recognition, concentration, hand-eye co-ordination and fine motor skills. Sometimes children also enjoy taking on the challenge of a larger puzzle with other friends, as demonstrated by our little friends here from the Goanna’s room. Doesn’t matter if the pieces are not fitting right, it’s more about the fun and excitement of trying to match any piece that fits together while sharing giggles and laughter.

04.01.2022 Today we had a special visitor in our kindergarten room to talk to the children about water safety. Trevor the Turtle popped in to share some really useful tips with our children in both the Dingoes and Echidnas room. We learnt to show our fist to the sky if we need help, but not waving because people won’t think we need help! Our children also helped Trevor out of the water by handing him a board and saying KICK, KICK, KICK!!!. We also learnt to swim in between the red a...nd yellow flags at the beach. Thank you Rackley Swimming North Lakes for bringing Trevor and lots of goody bags for the children.

03.01.2022 Lest we forget Today our Educators discussed with the children the importance of Remembrance Day and how we remember the fallen. The children contributed through arts and crafts, creating their own Poppies to wear, like Miss Collette’s, we also participated in a minute silence. ... In light of teaching the young ones about the importance of this day, these simple activities helped them to get involved and learn about the importance of peace.

03.01.2022 Thinking of Trick or Treating this Halloween, here's some safety tips from Queensland Police!

02.01.2022 Following requests from some of our families, we had our children and educators turn up in outfits to celebrate Halloween today! Educators use it as an opportunity to create some fun activities for the children throughout this week such as making crafts and face painting. We also did a trick or treating across the centre today with the children coming up to the front office to get some popcorn and marshmallows. Even our little ones came along with their dressed-up cot so they can get some bikkies as a treat. Celebrations are a fun and important way for children, families and educators to actively learn about each other, to share and to honour the rich diversity of the families within our services and to celebrate our similarities.

01.01.2022 We would like to congratulate our beloved educator, Miss Van, for her 5 years anniversary with Kids Capers!! Miss Van is the warm cuddle and reassuring smile that our little bubbas in the Koalas room look out for during morning drop offs. One thing you may not know about Miss Van is that she is also a mum to 3 beautiful princesses, one of whom is at our centre. Her youngest princess is so fiercely independent, not many families know mummy is actually one of our educators. We are truly blessed to have Miss Van as part of Team Mango!

01.01.2022 We wanted to take a moment today to show our gratitude towards two of our families for their thoughtful presents last Saturday while our team were busy with ensuring our Children’s Christmas party ran smoothly. To the Gee family - thank you for the beautiful food hamper of delicious goodies. To the Cortes family for the tray of sandwiches that we didn’t get a chance to photograph as it was gobbled up by very hungry educators on the day itself! We appreciate the kind gestures from our wonderful community of families.

01.01.2022 This weeks menu...

01.01.2022 Thank you to all our families for the list of suggestions proposed via Educa for our November calendar! We have tried to include most of the suggestions for this month and to spread it across the week so most of our children can be involved in these planned events. We are also excited to host our very own children’s Christmas Party this year at our centre! If you have not sent your RSVP via email, this is the last chance to let us know.
