18.01.2022 There is so much to know about these interesting little guys! Over the world there are over 20,000 species. Queensland has its own World of Bees and chances are you have been seeing them out and about as the weather warms up!

16.01.2022 Today we commemorated Remembrance Day. The children all participated in age appropriate experiences, to learn about the importance of this day and what it means. Our babies engaged in sensory play, while in our older age groups we listened to the last post, participated in 1 minute silence and read stories. Our Kindergarten age group read a story called Alfred’s War, further embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our program. Alfred’s War is a p...owerful story that unmasks the lack of recognition given to Australian Indigenous servicemen who returned from the WWI battlelines. Alfred was just a young man when he was injured and shipped home from France. Neither honoured as a returned soldier or offered government support afforded to non-Indigenous servicemen, Alfred took up a solitary life walking the back roads billy tied to his swag, finding work where he could. After reading the story, the children reflected on what they had learnt and were given the opportunity to ask questions and research further. Through these experiences, we are building literacy and language skills. We are building a love of books and are ready to learn. Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives will enhance the educational experiences. It is important for us to acknowledge and respect each others' perspectives our ways of seeing the world and to find that place where we can all meet, grow and learn. Lest we forget.

07.01.2022 @Kidscapersnorthgate we believe it is important to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our every day learning. During events such as NAIDOC week, we take the opportunity to further extend on the children’s learning and understanding of the Nations First People. This week our team have planned many experiences to increase the children’s awareness of our history. Take a look at the yummy cupcakes that were baked in our toddlers age group this week. Du...ring this experience, the educators had lots of conversations about the meaning of the flag and the colours. In our Sugar Gliders room, the children have been working all week to make a cave. Miss Jan has planned experiences for the children to learn about the traditional paintings and homes of Indigenous Australian’s and the children have transferred this knowledge into many areas of their learning this week. The children have learnt about the symbols and their meaning. They’ve then painted these symbols onto the cave they are building, using boxes. Learning through play sets a solid foundation for a love of learning!

05.01.2022 Last week we had a visitor in our play ground- Jiminy cricket came for a play! The children all gathered around to inspect him closer at first. After discussing how many legs he had, how he moved about the play ground and how important it was for us to share our space with him, the children lined up next to one another to watch him jump up the fence and explore what was on the other side. The children are building respect for their environments and enjoy observing and asking questions to gain further knowledge of their world.

02.01.2022 A pinch of sugar, a touch of spice and a cup of everything nice! The children actively seek ways to use imaginative ideas and processes during play. Our playgrounds and open ended experiences provide them with the opportunity to grow and learn at their own p[ace. Just check out some of our friends making potion! This involved measuring just the right amounts and mixing it all together to make the perfect potion.
