24.01.2022 At Kids Capers we recognise the important contribution our emergency services plays within our community. We are so lucky that some of our family members are a part of these services and are willing to offer their own time to show the children their vehicles and chat about keeping safe. Today, all of our children were able to get up close with an Ambulance! We would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Jason and the Emergency Services for the wonderful job that they do in keeping us all safe! If you would like to say thank you, please feel free to comment below.

Exploring this new resource together, the children were able to ‘wash’ their hands and ‘prepare’ some food!! Imitation is a great way for children to practice and master new skills. Do your children mimic what they see within your home? If so, what do they do?

06.01.2022 We believe in acknowledging and teaching, through play, the true histories of Australia to promote a sense of understanding, connection and respect for Australia’s First Peoples, and for the land which we learn on and care for. As an organisation, we are committed to raising awareness about reconciliation, with the goal of encouraging all people in the broader community to embrace reconciliation and work towards reparation and healing for the Land’s First Peoples. Today our educational leaders met to share each Centre's journey towards reconciliation, sharing ideas to further empower our educators to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective in all aspect of the program.

05.01.2022 This morning while our wombat friends and educators were waiting for morning tea at the table as a group, one little friend used their hand in an unkind way. Our inspiring educator Miss Nat took the opportunity to open a discussion on what can we use our hands for. Throughout the discussion Miss Nat asked the children how do we use our gentle hands with our friends? Each friend had a great answer! In this discussion we learnt we can use our hands for Hi-5, knuckles, hugging, waving hello or goodbye and blowing kisses. This has been an ongoing learning and reflective practice, educators are intentionally teaching and encouraging the children how to act with one another with care, empathy and respect. Together discussing how we can best use our hands.

01.01.2022 Letting children lead in play is a great way to find out what they are most interested in. Children have amazing imaginations and most of the time you don't need any special toys or equipment as the children will lead the way with whatever interests them and is available.

01.01.2022 Today is International Day of Sign Languages. In our Blue Tongues room, the children focused on learning the alphabet in AUSLAN.
