24.01.2022 Occasionally we get phone calls from customers with feedback. Just had one of those this morning, we installed an 8kW system late last year, his last bill was only $10 and he rang us back then to tell us how happy he was with his new system, and considering it had only been installed for a month before the meter was read and bill issued he was absolutely over the moon. This morning he rang really upset because he got a power bill for $358.00, so I asked him to send me a copy of the bill so I can see whats going on. It wasnt a bill at all, it was $358 credit. Never seen a credit before so assumed it was a bill. Poor fella was so embarrassed.... Now he's one extremely happy customer again. So happy that we are now putting in some PowerPlus batteries very soon for backup power.

24.01.2022 I have recently been made aware of a new website called solar scams. I've had a good look through it all, and its very accurate. I have no idea who built this website, but I have to say well done to them. I advise everyone to have a read through it, especially if you're considering purchasing a solar system. https://solarscams.com/

21.01.2022 Nice job we recently completed in the Grampians for Pomonal Estate Winery. The large outdoor area is now complete with shading provided by 18kW of Winaico solar panels on a specially built structure.

18.01.2022 Big day yesterday with a major off grid system upgrade. With a new Selectronic 7.5kW inverter and Powerplus lithium batteries replacing some 32 year old ex-telecom batteries that had finally said enough. Some before and after pics showing what a big difference. Just need to finish the cabinet works (by owner) and its done.

17.01.2022 Ive just been sent this short video of a lithium battery going up in flames. Its only a small battery, but shows what thermal runaway can do to these volatile batteries. Imagine using a cheap battery like this in your camper and this happens in the middle of the night while youre sleeping. A good quality lithium battery with a decent Battery Management System wont let this happen. However a cheap battery with a Battery Monitoring System - which is very different even though i...ts still labelled a BMS- can allow the battery to overcharge and combust. Of course theres many types of lithium batteries too, some are much more volatile than others. We only use LiFe PowerPlus lithium batteries, Australian made with all the good BMS in place, and no issues with thermal runaway. They cost a little more, but piece of mind means they are well worth it. See more

15.01.2022 Anyone come across this letter in their mailboxes? If so, bin it, This "scam" by Solar Service Group has been getting around for a number of years now, their "trial" has been running for as long as the scam has, and the "trial" never actually ends. They also use a couple of other names as well, but its the same scam and you can usually find the SSG reference somewhere on the letter. They use google mapping to identify residences with solar panels installed and send that addre...ss a letter, hence why its addressed to the owner and not a specific name. Their prices are hugely inflated also, I suggest to anyone considering this offer do your homework, get an alternative quotation from someone else and dont just accept this as the better deal, because it most certainly isnt. You end up paying a price thats well over the RRP, even after their "discounts". Buyer beware. See more

14.01.2022 Just finished an off grid system yesterday using the newly released cabinets from PowerPlus Energy for their Aussie made lithium batteries allowing the whole system to be fully enclosed. This one consists of almost all Australian made gear also using the Selectronics inverter, and it required an additional inverter which was mounted beside the new main switchboard as well. In the next week or so we will decommission the old system which is still working, and relocate the exis...ting DC charge controller over into the new cabinet as well. Also waiting on the Selectsun remote monitoring unit to allow access to system data and control from anywhere in the world once the NBN is connected too. This is the best technology currently available. Sorry about the poor pictures, but there was a lot of light coming in from the side and was difficult to photograph properly. See more

11.01.2022 Yet another solar company doing the wrong thing. This time its quite serious, and have been banned from accessing rebates for 2 years. After some of the garbage I've seen installed over the years this is not surprising. All our systems are independently inspected and signed off accordingly. https://www.theage.com.au//solar-installer-banned-from-gov

07.01.2022 Upgrading an old system we installed many years ago near Daylesford in central Vic. The manufacture date on the batteries is 7/95, yes they were 24 years old and still working (although rather tired). The original system was left in place, some new (larger) lead carbon batteries and mounting rack installed, and some additional solar panels with a new victron MPPT charge controller with bluetooth comms added as well. Now they can sit inside the house and see what the system is doing without going out in the winter cold. Some before and after photos.

07.01.2022 Just completed a new 20kW solar system with a 15kW Fronius inverter on the Natte Yallock Recreation Reserve building, thanks again to Troy Walker Electrical for their assistance in completing this exciting project. The community can now enjoy the much lower electricity bills on their public building.

05.01.2022 Here’s how we are handling the COVID-19 situation: At this point we are continuing to provide all our normal services, maintenance, and installations. We take the health and safety of our customers and employees very seriously and will follow the recommendations and guide lines from the authorities on COVID-19. We want to ensure our employees have a safe workplace and at the same time ensure they keep a reasonable physical distance from each other where possible and also with... our customers. It may be difficult for us to offer personal advice onsite as we normally would do, and we realize many would be uncomfortable with this as well. But we would always be available via telephone and email to help answer any questions as if we were dealing with you in person. Some site visits will still be conducted as necessary but we will try to keep these to a minimum where possible, and keep a safe distance and continue to follow advice of the health authorities to minimize any risk of infection. If you as our valued customer have any special wishes in connection with handling of your system installation, repairs or maintenance, please let us know and we will deal with it on an individual case by case basis. We are also dealing with minor shortages of some items, and expect this to increase as well in due course. This may affect some installations and warranty issues if they arise, and again we will deal with these when required. Thank you from all the team at KC Solar. See more
