23.01.2022 The Australian Bank Association has today announced that small businesses can defer all loan repayments for 6 months. The Chief executive of the ABA, Anna Bligh, said "Small business can rest assured that if they need help they will get it". Businesses will have to contact their local banker to register for the deferral arrangement. However, Ms Bligh said that the banks were yet to see households going into mortgage stress as a result of COVID-19 but would reassess their appr...oach if situations changed. Shortly after the announcement, NAB said home loan customers could defer repayments for up to 6 months. The bank also cut its fixed-rate home loan by 0.60%. ANZ has also cut its fixed-rate home loan by 0.59%. While there have been rate cuts across the board by the big 4 banks after yesterdays emergency rate cut by the Reserve Bank. If you are experiencing any financial hardship or are unsure what your current interest rate is, it is important to get in contact with your local banker to see how they can help you through this challenging time. If you need any help understanding how these announcements affect you, don't hesitate to contact us and we are more than happy to explain.
