22.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day. 1 in 5 Australians are affected by mental illness, yet many dont seek help because of the stigma associated with this very real illness. Reach out to one another and let us either assist or pave the way for more people to seek the help and support they deserve. Let us all make an individual effort to look at mental illness in a different light. You may just be surprised at the collective results. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness

16.01.2022 Looking at the fires raging across Australia, I find myself wondering whether there are any volunteer firefighters from Central Queensland and surrounding areas who are out there fighting these fires. You may wonder why so here goes. If there are any volunteer firefighters who still need to lodge a 2019 individual tax return when you get back, please contact me and our firm will prepare and lodge it for free. We will take on the first fifteen (15). Note that this offer is for volunteer firefighters only.

15.01.2022 As we look back upon the past year, complete with bushfires, viruses, and a sudden obsession with toilet paper, we would like to acknowledge that it has not been a good one for many. We truly hope and pray that the New Year ahead is a much better one. We appreciate all the relationships that we have formed with our clients (both old and new) and colleagues, and are thankful that we have been able to continue and support you as your trusted advisor. We look forward to working with you in the New Year. Note that we will be shutting down from close of business on Friday 18th December 2020 and will re-open on Monday 11th January 2021.

08.01.2022 I'd love for my clients to avoid being the victim of scammers and for me not to have a difficult meeting with a client like a colleague had to this week. The ATO has been seeing a significant increase in relation to ATO scams. With recent scams, the caller impersonates ATO officers. The phone call or a recorded message indicates that you have a debt with the ATO, and if you don’t call to arrange payment, the ATO will issue a warrant for your arrest. The scam projects legitim...ate ATO phone numbers on caller ID, to make you think it’s a legitimate call. While the ATO does sometimes contact taxpayers by phone, email, and SMS, there are some tell-tale signs that it isn’t the ATO. The ATO will not: 1 - send you an email or SMS asking you to click on a link directing you to a login page; 2 - use aggressive or rude behaviour, or threaten you with immediate arrest, jail or deportation; 3 - request payment of a debt via iTunes or Google Play cards, pre-paid Visa cards, cryptocurrency or direct credit to a personal bank account; 4 - request a fee in order to release a refund owed to you. If you do receive such a call, please do not engage or follow instructions irrespective of the caller placing pressure on you. Contact us immediately and we will investigate.
