Fitting and Machining is a specialist field manufacturing precise components used in all areas of life. Components can be used in road transport, aviation, marine, machinery and equipment and even the medical fields. Components need to be precisely made and treated with a great deal of care. Near enough is not good enough in a Fitting and Machining workshop. In today’s Fitting and Machining workshop you will notice it’s clean and tidy; usually with lots of computers and computer-controlled machines as well as numerous manual machines. In Australia Fitting and Machining trade is in a crisis because many of the students capable of undertaking this rewarding career are choosing to go to university instead. This has led to an enormous shortage of Fitting and Machinists; ensuring full employment for successful tradespeople at all levels well into the future. The rewards are also great, with many successful and experienced Fitting and Machinists earning into the mid-six figures, well above many of their university-trained counterparts. C&S Engineering and Toolmaking is a local business supplying; aviation, aero-medical, road transport and mining businesses nationally. They are recognised as one of the best toolmakers in the state. C&S Engineering and Toolmaking is run by brothers; Craig and Steve who between them have decades of experience. What are we looking for? C&S is currently looking for a fulltime, first year apprentice, who is interested in taking on this demanding, yet rewarding trade. All training and supervision will be provided. While a demonstrated previous aptitude for design and technology practical skills is an advantage it is not essential. Required Skills: 1. An aptitude for mathematical logical applications 2. A willingness to learn and be directed especially in relation to machine operation and safety. 3. A willingness to work as part of our team. 4. A friendly manner and willingness to communicate with customers. 5. Well groomed and ability to ensure a tidy work environment. 6. Ability to work independently when required. 7. A good driving record. 8. Willingness to start work at 6am and work Saturdays if required. All applicants should be turning 18 or older during 2021.
