21.01.2022 When I'm not busy helping lawyers solve their administrative woes, here's some of my guilty online pleasures. I could (and do) spend hours scrolling through the Gorman website looking at all the beautiful colourful things I don’t need. On a more serious note I love learning and spend a lot of my down time reading and watching tutorials - my current obsession is expanding my knowledge of Squarespace and CSS coding as well as finding new recipe and baking blogs. My most lo...ved one right now is Recipe Tin Eats - yet to try a recipe that doesn’t turn out amazing, I cook from this site at least three times a week! How about you? #downtime #productivity #getitdone #lawyers #virtualassistant #offsiteadmin #legalsupport #letlawyersbelawyers #boutiquelawyer #microlaw #legalpractice #sololawyer #remotesuppott #remoteadmin #legalvirtualassistant #legalvirtualassistant #legalpa #lawfirm #lawyer #virtuallawyer #remote #remoteworking #canberralawyer #melbournelawyer #perthlawfirm #familylaw #commerciallaw #barrister #inhouse #lawyersofinstagram

14.01.2022 I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a cold August morning and my husband and I dropped our little boy off at day care for the first time. There were tears. My little boys and mine. This photo was taken straight after we left the daycare centre. I cried the whole train ride back to work and the elevator ride up to the 30th floor. I knew right there and then I had to go all in with my legal VA business. It was my big Aha moment, the point of no return! ... That little boy is now 4 1/2 and has a 2 year old brother, and while it hasn’t been easy balancing family time, business time and me time, I have absolutely no regrets. In fact, I couldn’t be prouder of what I’ve achieved. Have you experienced anything similar? A time when you just knew it was time to make a change? #smallbusiness #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinesssupport #family #familyfirst #mumofboys #mumsinbusiness #mumsinbusinessaustralia #lawmum #lawyermumsaustralia #virtualassistant #legalvirtualassistant #legalva #lawyer #lawfirm #virtualassistantservices #canberralawyer #melbournelawyer #sydneylawyer #perthlawyer #familylaw #familylawyer #familylawyersbrisbane #familylawyermelbourne #lawyermums #lawyerlife #officeadmin #officemanager #admin #thebusinessoflaw

01.01.2022 When lawyers tell me they’re not overly happy with the way Actionstep is working for them it often comes down to one of four things (and sometimes a mix). They haven’t spent time customising workflows that work for them - the inbuilt workflows are great and perfect for getting you going, but the beauty of these workflows is that they are so customisable. If you spend time mapping out your processes and matter life cycles, you can design some fantastic workflows that work ...for you. They’re not making the best use of the system’s document generation and automation capabilities - It can be time consuming to set up template letters, emails and documents in your system but without them you’re missing a crucial element to making your life that little bit easier! They’re not fully aware of the systems capabilities and/or are looking for external solutions to a perceived issue that the system already provides - When setting up with Actionstep it’s easy to just dive right in without spending time to understand what it can do, beyond housing your contacts and matters. Did you know you can set up abbreviations for time keeping? Create webforms that clients can input their details into that then feed back into your system simplifying the matter opening process? They aren’t consistent in their approach to data entry - When it comes to document generation and automation, what you put in is what you get out. So if you’re sometimes setting up a contact card with the state field as ‘NSW’ but other times as ‘New South Wales’ this is going to mess with your documents. Same goes for putting very little information on your contact cards, if you don’t add as much info in as you can, when it comes to automate those documents, there isn’t a great deal to draw from. There’s no such thing as a perfect practice management system. They all have pros and cons and it really comes down to what you want to get out of it and what you need it to do for you. As far as systems go, Actionstep is pretty fabulous, especially when its set up well! So in one word or emoji, tell me how you feel about Actionstep (or whatever practice management system you’re using!)
