20.01.2022 Hello all students and families, The health and safety of all our students and staff is of utmost importance at our school. As the number of positive cases increases in Geelong and its surrounding areas, I am becoming quite concerned. This week I have been able to seek advice from health professionals in the area who are closely involved in the management and coordination of the COVID-19 in the Geelong Health Sector. It has been recommended that I take further precaution...s to prevent any potential contact and spread of this highly contagious virus. Due to the size and space of the studio, impracticality to utilize face masks during lessons, the number of students who come from a large cross section of Geelong, and the amount of student traffic that moves through the studio it is believed that it is very difficult to prevent the spread of this virus if it was to be introduced to our studio. Considering all of these potential risk factors I have made the decision to move back to online lessons via Google Duo. I encourage all students to return to online lessons from home for the time being. For those students who are unable to undertake lessons online, exam students who will require some face to face lessons, or are really wanting lessons in the studio, we can make some exceptions. I will continue to seek professional advice and reassess our situation from week to week. I will keep everyone updated with information as the coming weeks unfold. Amelia and I will assume that all students will be returning to online lessons from Monday 3rd August unless we hear from you. If you would like to recommence online lessons before Monday the 3rd August that is not a problem (please just send us a message so we know to call via Google Duo). 15.01.2022 Hello to all students and families With the end of the year fast approaching, planning has been underway for our school in 2020. KD SOPA has continued to grow over the past 3 years which is exciting. Teaching, and managing the school, combined with my own performing career projects, has been a dream come true, and so very rewarding. However; the search for the holy grail of work/family life balance remains a challenge that I’m yet to master!! I don’t know if I ever wil...l. So, in an attempt to address this issue and create more of my precious family time I have been meeting with Angela Rogers (our musical theatre teacher at Drysdale) over the past 3 months and we have come up with a perfect arrangement to continue providing all aspects of Performing Arts education, which we are so passionate about, to all of our valued students and families. As from January 2020 the school will split in to two separate schools!! Kate Daley SOPA will recommence operating as Kate Daley School of Singing. Myself and Amelia will teach from our home studio in St. Albans Park. We will specialize in singing tuition for individual and groups of all ages and abilities. Our Facebook page has begun renovation and our new website is under construction (www.schoolofsinging.com.au). All of our current contact details remain the same at this point in time. Angela has recently launched her new school, Bellarine Performing Arts (BPA) which will operate out of Potato Shed and continue to offer all aspects of Performing Arts (Singing, dancing, acting and musical theatre). Classes will run very similarly to how KD SOPA has been running for the past 3 years at Potato Shed, therefore there will be little or no interruption to classes that are running currently. Angela is already running most of our classes at Potato Shed and has been since term 2 so many of our students and families are already familiar with Angela and her expertise. I will continue to support and mentor Angela through her business and am very excited to watch BPA grow in the coming years. To be a part of such a wonderful community is very special and is something that I am not ready to leave! Both Angela, Kim and myself will be in touch with everyone in the coming weeks to provide more information regarding schedules and continued enrolments for 2020. It’s been the best ride and I’m so very grateful to have been able to provide performing arts classes to so many. Kate Daley School of Singing will continue to operate via our home studio in St. Albans Park with Kate and Amelia (owned and managed by Kate). Angela Rogers (our Drysdale teacher) will be owner, manager and teacher at the new Bellarine Performing Arts, Potato Shed Drysdale. Angela is highly qualified and will continue to offer all the classes that have been running at KD SOPA over th...e past 3 years.
