24.01.2022 A KebabMeUp user left some really interesting feedback on one of our kebab shop listings: "I have been buying your kebabs for ages and just realized they are Halal,do you have a non Halal option ???? If not im sorry i will not buy them anymore." - KebabMeUp user. Thanks for your feedback :). KebabMeUp is run by non-Muslims, but here's our perspective..... Did you know that if you pick a piece of fruit off a tree in your own backyard and eat it, that the fruit you're eating is halal? If you don't believe us, ask any Muslim. They'll tell you. That apple you're eating is halal! When a food item is "halal", all it means is that nothing was done to the food during its production or preparation that would make it religiously forbidden for a Muslim to eat it. That's it! That's all it means! An apple picked fresh off your own fruit tree meets the criteria for "halal". If you take the apple and then dip it in pork fat, then it wouldn't be halal, because pork in any form is not halal. So when you see a food item that is "certified halal", all it means is that the process by which that food item was produced and prepared has been inspected by an expert, and that expert found nothing to suggest that Muslims shouldn't eat it. Just like an apple picked off your own fruit tree. Thanks again for your feedback, and we hope this adds some perspective. A shoutout to all the Muslims running the vast majority of Melbourne's kebab joints - you do a fantastic job & keep doing what you do! Here's to a busy weekend!
