25.01.2022 Getting supplies ready for tomorrows sausage sizzle. Looking forward to seeing everyone there at 4pm for our community meeting.

25.01.2022 Day 5 of the Kedron Brook Catchment garden photo challenge. This afternoon my family went on a ride along the Kedron Brook bikeway (I have never seen it so busy...!) where we came across this funny little character, a Striated Heron (Butorides striata). Striated Heron's are described as small, squat water birds. This one was probably in search of dinner such as fish and other marine invertebrates. When foraging, these herons usually adopt a hunched posture, with the head and neck drawn back into the birds body, while keeping the bill held horizontally, parallel to the surface of the creek bed. This heron came right over to us and almost seemed like it wanted its photo taken! #citizensciencemonth #KedronBrookCatchment #urbanbiodiversity

21.01.2022 Thanks so much to the folks at bulimbacreek.org.au and 'Save our Pullenvale Reserve from Council Development'. Other locals trying to achieve the same harmonious aim in their own neighbourhoods. This image caught my eye because it reminded me of the big beautiful (and well established) trees on our Green Space. they provide shelter and sustenance for the local bird life which is something a young tree can't achieve.

21.01.2022 Check out these photos! These were taken, and given to us by a local who has lived in the area since 1970. These are photos from the '74 flood taken from on top of a concrete wall at Kedron SHS. Look straight across the brook and you would see our green space, no doubt covered in similar wet. #keepkedrongreen

20.01.2022 I love this message. Thank you Melissa :)

11.01.2022 The urban landscape of the Kedron Brook catchment and its urban bioiodiversity plays a vital role in our health and well-being. Being grounded at home gives an ...opportunity to turn inwards and pay attention to how our gardens play an important role in wildlife corridors and connections between green spaces. This has led me to start capturing the wildlife that utilises my garden. So we start the Kedron Brook Catchment garden challenge where we encourage you to share photos of the birds, insects and other wildlife that frequent your garden Tonight's image comes courtesy of my resident brush-tail possum who lives under our house and has recently found the chook food! Pictures taken using a fauna monitoring camera.

11.01.2022 What an incredible effort. Keep it up everyone! https://www.change.org/p/dr-anthony-lynham-mp-save-our-gree

10.01.2022 The sale of the green space has only been 'postponed'. We still need to put pressure on all levels of government to ensure our green space is saved from development. This video is a good summary of what we have achived in only a few days. Our community is united to support our green space we all enjoy.

10.01.2022 Dear Kedron Community, We have had a lot of enquiry from residents of Kedron, Wavell Heights and Wooloowin asking for an update on where we are at with saving our Kedron Green Space. Since our community event on the 6th March 2020, we have continued to have a huge amount of support from concerned residents and community members about saving the green space.... On 10th March 2020, Deb Frecklington MP visited the Kedron Green Space and made the pledge that if LNP regain power at the upcoming election she will save the green space. In talks with Dr Anthony Lynham MPhe confirmed that the green space would not be sold and that he would negotiate with the Brisbane City Council on bequesting the green space to the BCC. At the time, this provided our community with the certainty that the land will be maintained as a green space for generations to come. Although, at the time of these discussions, the council elections were close and he explained that negotiations would begin post-election once the winning party was decided. Mark Bailey MP - Labor for Miller the Minister for Transport and Main Roads in Queensland (the department that currently owns the land) provided a written confirmation that the department would not sell the Kedron green space. Dr Lynham sent correspondence to the BCC to begin the process of bequesting the green space to the BCC Councillor Adam Allan advised that the BCC received the letter and replied to begin the negotiating process with Minister Bailey. Today we spoke with Dr Lynham. He confirmed that after consultation with Minister Bailey, the decision was made to NOT bequest the green space to the BCC because of a number of factors making it too difficult. He said the land will not be sold as long as he is the member for Stafford. We raised concerns about this decision as it provided residents and the larger community with no certainty what so ever that the land would not be sold in the future. He said he will try and find a way to prevent this from happening and would get back to us. This is a disappointing outcome as we know a parcel of land on the corner of Stafford Road and Gympie Road was bequeathed from Minister Bailey's office to the BCC to be maintained as parkland. We will keep everyone advised of updates in the next few weeks. The "Save our Kedron Green Space" members and the greater Kedron Community would also like to thank Ed Sangjitphun - LNP for Stafford , John Meyer - Greens for Clayfield, The Courier-Mail and Sunday Mail for their ongoing support and providing advise and guidance throughout this process. Save of Kedron Green Space.

09.01.2022 After a nice bit of rain this is the Brook chattering over the riffle between the Shaw Sports fields and Kalinga Park; ecosystem services at work oxygenating and cleaning up the run-off.
