18.01.2022 A few years ago, we started our trips to the Bradbury Parklands across the road from our kindy with the vision to make it an integral part of our program. When we discovered an area that 'just' contained trees, bark, sticks, the odd tree stump and dirt, we knew that this would provide an opportunity for endless exploration, creativity, imagination and nature play. This was when our "Magic Forest" was born and over the years it has provided inspiration and endless joy to many... Kedron Heights children. This week we were thrilled to be invited to the special opening of the Magic Forest (take 2) by Councillor Fiona Hammond and Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner. The children certainly gave it their thumbs up as they explored the imaginary Kingdom, walked through the Magic Seahorse entrance, sat on the Guardian Throne, visited Sandy Cove, Pebble Beach, the Enchanted River, and the Snail Trail, while watching out for the Sleeping Beasts... We thank Fiona, the Brisbane City Council and all the team for this amazing space. The most important thank you goes to the Kedron Heights children, past and present, who were instrumental in giving ideas and who provided the inspiration. We look forward to being the "Guardians" of this space for many years to come. Ps our waitlist is currently open for 2021-24. 18.01.2022 Mud cakes or Mud pies anyone? A big thank you to one of our wonderful and very talented Educators, Angela and her husband Dave for our fantastic new Mud Kitchen! As you can see in the photos, in rain, hail or shine we have been busy making and creating with our friends, exploring the sensory properties of mud and of course learning to share, negotiate and compromise this popular space.

06.01.2022 We celebrated our Outdoor Classroom Day with a trip to the Magic Forest in the Bradbury Parklands across the road from kindy. While we were sad that some items were missing or damaged, we focused on what was there instead... a wonderful place to be, explore, imagine, create and discover... We climbed, balanced, made some clay and leaf creations, followed the snail trail, did some drawings of the Jacaranda trees, and of course negotiated our way onto the Guardian's Throne. A highlight was when we all sat on a log and listened to an ABC Imagine This podcast, "Why do birds sing?" We love this space that gives us so much joy. Thank you Councillor Fiona Hammond! ...and if others don't look after it as much as we do, the Kedron Heights' children said they can bring their lasers, nets and set up Spy Cameras next time...

01.01.2022 Well that is a wrap for our 2020 kindy year. There is sadness that we say goodbye to many of you, but happiness for what we have all achieved together this year, as we 'celebrated childhood' in every way. Thank you to all the families in our Kedron Heights Community for all you have brought to our kindy. We know we will see some of you again, and to those who have finished up with us, know that you will always be in our hearts. To the 44 kindy children who made up our 2020 year... It has been our honour to learn alongside you. Thank you for all you've taught us and each other, for the kindness you showed, the resilience you discovered and the joy you provided. We will see you in term 1 for our special reunions.
