15.01.2022 The CAT-egories of ageing Did you know that cats who are over the age of seven are categorised as senior? This is based on the physical and biological changes that begin to occur at this age. Their average life span is 14-20 years and as a cat get gets older, their diet and health care needs will evolve. Some problems that cats of this age face: kidney disease, dental disease, arthritis, dietary issues, thyroid problems, hearing loss and hair matting due to lack of grooming.... If you are concerned about your cat’s health and wondering whether it may be related to their stage of life, book a consult with one of our vets to assess their condition. Signs that your ageing cat needs some help: * Increase or decrease in appetite * Reluctance to move around * Reluctance to jump on beds or lounges * Changes to their skin or coat * Increase or decrease to their weight * Constipation or diarrhoea * Hissing when touched or petted * Meowing more frequently and loud

06.01.2022 The lovely Molly here needs rehoming because unfortunately her mum is going overseas! Read about this cute companion.... Molly is a 9 year old ‘silver’ domestic short hair feline. Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and fully house trained (although she prefers to go outside) - she has never missed her tray. She’s pretty independent and has lived in a house where she is left to her own devices during the day, and has been placed in cat accommodation a few times (up to a perio...d of three weeks) which she has handled well on each stay. Molly is an incredibly friendly cat,she run downstairs to greet visitors when there is a knock at the door, she loves a scratch and is very chatty, loving the company of people, will follow you around and keep you company. She is very quirky and is loved by all that meet her. She is very inquisitive, always investigating things. She loves to sleep on the end of the bed, couch, or sometimes random places in the garage. She is very low maintenance, not a fan of toys but loves her scratching post and pieces of cardboard. She has never scratched any of my furniture. She is an indoor and outdoor cat, found sleeping in the garden or playing in the grass - so would prefer a place with outdoor space so she can run around. We have a one-way cat door, and I keep her inside at night for her safety. Molly has lived alone for a number of years now so would prefer a place where she is the only cat or dog. She would make a fantastic companion for someone who is after not your classic cat, and some great company. She comes with water and food bowls, scratching posts and a few months of food. I’ll also get her updated vaccinations which are due in December, and a health check while I’m there. I welcome anyone who is interested to come and see her as she really is a special cat who needs to be seen in real life to appreciate how she is.
