24.01.2022 It’s unfortunately getting worse for our Victorian friends. Today’s news just adds further justification to cease flights from Melbourne into other states and definitely into regional airports such as Ballina. Stop the flights now before the NSW North Coast is the next hotspot.

It look’s like Victoria’s issues maybe escalating. 100’s of People are pouring through Ballina Airport from Melbourne every single day.... This situation is simply ridiculous and we could pay a heavy Price. Voice your concern to you local members and Ballina Council as the Owners of the Airport. Ballina Mayor is still apparently publicity supporting the incoming flights occurring in recent media interviews.

20.01.2022 ***NSW Health announced this morning that non-essential travel between Melbourne and NSW was discouraged and that it had implemented restrictions on Melbourne travellers from entering "high-risk settings" such as aged-care facilities. "Further restrictions may be implemented as the situation evolves," it said.*** So still no restrictions on Jetstar flights from Melbourne into Ballina. People are just pouring in flying out of Melbourne. The NSW Government have now restricted t...hese people from visiting "high risk settings" in NSW. Why are these flights still coming to this Regional area with the high elderly population. As much as it is hard financially for businesses, hopefully they are doing their bit and turning them away.

18.01.2022 The owners of the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport as we understand it is Ballina Council. Have head pretty much nothing from Council as to what they are doing to protect the Northern Rivers Community. Would be great to hear from them to inform the community. What screening is now in place? When did whatever the screen process is actually start? How many people from Hotspot Postcodes have been detected in the past week? Are they or Jetstar checking on where the passengers came... from in the last week? All important questions our community should know the answers to so they know how great of a risk they are being exposed to.

18.01.2022 So finally the VIC border is closed. It appears the flights direct from Melbourne to Ballina and now very few and presumably will mostly be taking people back to Victoria. Lets hope any arrivals stick to the required self isolation period. Lets also hope that the 1000's of people that flew into Ballina direct from Melbourne over the past 2-3 weeks were not infected. "Jetstar - The flying Ruby Princess" is something we absolutely do not need.... And lets hope that the idiots around Byron Shire that decided to have large parties and even a 1000+ illegal doof party were not carrying the Covd-19 virus. Pure stupidity.

18.01.2022 So here is a good example of the threat flights can play in potential spread. It was only a small plane into Griffith NSW. The likelihood for an Airport like Ballina is much higher.

How long before the Government will act to stop the spread into regional NSW.... Stop the flights into Ballina from Sydney Now. Also the State Government needs to act to stop the mass arrival of holiday makers out of Sydney into rural NSW.

A COVID safe plan, plastic screens and social distancing will not stop the airport potentially being a significant high risk point of entry for the virus into the Far North Coast. The other states will not permit entry for residents from Greater Sydney for a reason. If you not happy ring the Council or Airport and let them know.... 03.01.2022 Well it’s an offical Public Health Order. If people from the Northern Beaches left that area on or after 10th December they are subject to the same Stay at Home Restrictions as if they were still there. Hopefully they get the message and do their bit.
