25.01.2022 Australia has the worst mammal extinction rate of any country in the world. We have a once-in-10-year opportunity to turn things around for struggling wildlife. It could be the last chance for many Aussie species Together we can turn it around, sign the petition: https://hubs.ly/H0v37670 Via WWF-Australia

25.01.2022 That creamy pour What do you think it the perfect temp for your coffee? Some say that 60 degrees Celsius is the perfect serving temperature for milk-based coffees - where the sugars are at their best and the milk proteins are still intact. Giving that rich espresso room to do its thing.

24.01.2022 Friends, we need your help. Weve set a target of net zero carbon emissions by 2025. To do this, we need informed decisions that reduce our impact. This is where you come in. 24.01.2022 From today, our retail space in our Melbourne office is accepting customers again! Of course, the health and safety of our community is of paramount importance; social distancing is in place and please wear your mask and use sanitiser upon entry. On a sadder note, our London HQ in Leyton will be closed during lockdown but our warehouse will continue to pack and ship orders from our online store. After what has been a tough year for most, now more than ever, let’s rally toget...her to support local independent businesses and cafes who remain open during this second lockdown. A flat white, a bag of coffee beans, vouchers for holiday gifting it all adds up and helps ensure our favourite local cafes survive these difficult times. Stay safe, be well and we'll see you on the other side.

23.01.2022 What does your vision of the future look like? In our latest article, we take a deep dive into the urgent need to shift away from over-consumption and the positive systems of reuse we can put into place to create a more equitable and prosperous future for all.

22.01.2022 Post 1 of 5 - Celebrating B Corp Month. Being a certified B Corporation means were committed to business for the betterment of the world. Over the next few weeks, well be sharing a series of stories on how we put those words into action. Firstly, we want to champion the most important part of our business: our people. Protecting the environment means empowering everyone. We believe visible and vocal female leadership is critical to addressing gender inequality and paving th...e way for future leaders. We pay living wages and are strong believers in pay equity. We benchmark salaries against global salary data to ensure roles are fairly paid. We report on the gap paid between our lowest and highest paid workers, as part of our ongoing B Corp assessments. We foster a healthy work culture around reasonable hours, communal meals and open communication. And all our offices are dog friendly.

20.01.2022 Were in business to shape a better future. Our approach has always been to design a strong and responsible supply chain to reduce waste and energy consumption across our entire business. We manufacture locally where capacity and volumes allow, supporting the transition to a circular economy. We have close, long term supplier relationships our core partners have been with us right from the start. | This is post 3 of 5 in our B Corp month series | #KeepCupBCorp

19.01.2022 30% off storewide with the code REUSER30 until 11.59pm, Monday 30 November AEDT! Let’s get back to reducing and reusing. Get it out of the cupboard, upgrade it if you want to, refurb it with a replacement part if you need to. Whether you’re buying for yourself or a loved one, remember that the best reusable is the one that is used over and over again so buy once and buy well.

18.01.2022 We believe in purpose before profit. Through partnerships, we aim to support those at the forefront of environmental activism and behaviour change. We donate 1% of global revenue to environmental causes, including Sea Shepherd Australia and Planet Arks Circular Economy Hub. We work with aligned organisations to drive change and advocate for action on climate and the circular economy, including an end to unnecessary and problematic single-use plastics.... Were a voluntary member of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation, B Corp and 1% for the Planet because we know that working together, in community,is powerful. | This is post 4 of 5 in our B Corp Month series | #KeepCupBCorp #KeepCup B Corporation - Australia & NZ

17.01.2022 We think big chains like Starbucks are perfectly positioned to lead positive and meaningful change by championing reuse. But do you think theyre doing enough? https://hubs.la/H0wkJK_0

16.01.2022 PETITION: Were joining City to Sea and calling on high-street chains across the UK to start accepting reusable coffee cups, containers and water bottles again. Please sign and share - reuse can, does and will safely continue:

16.01.2022 As a B Corp, were committed to empowering our community to drive positive environmental outcomes. We believe in replacing parts, not products, so all KeepCups are made with replaceable components to increase their longevity. KeepCup users divert over 8 billion single-use cups from landfill every year. Together weve led the reuse revolution. Our aim was always to create a worldwide movement, accessible to anyone and everyone, that shapes a world without plastic waste. We s...tarted with coffee cups. 06.01.2022 Today marks the 51st anniversary of the very first Earth Day. Half a century has passed. We now stand on a threshold, charged with either shrinking from the task at hand or embracing a sustainable future. How do we get there? Our habitat needs us to take on two important mindsets: 1) Daily personal action. ... We know that collective action has a huge impact - heck, it’s why we’re in business - but a recent study in the Financial Times shows us that many people fail to identify the most effective ways to reduce an individual carbon footprint (see graphic). It’s not recycling it's reuse. It’s not just changing your lightbulbs; it’s avoiding unnecessary flights and use of cars. Of course, all these things add up, but take some time to consider how you can really pump up those numbers for a bigger collective impact through individual actions. 2) Keep up the pressure. Don’t let the big polluters get away with putting the responsibility solely on the individual. Protest, petition and write letters and emails your voice is more powerful than you think. Vote for leaders whose policy platforms protect our environment and hold them to account for their promises. Switch your bank to one that doesn’t invest in fossil fuels. When the financial incentive for wrecking the environment is outweighed by the incentive to preserve it, then the Earth will truly have its day to celebrate. 04.01.2022 This week we chatted to Abigail, co-founder and managing director of KeepCup- the people behind the first barista standard reusable cup, and one of the first an...d most famous companies preventing waste in hospitality. Like Reground, KeepCup was founded by hospitality workers who wanted to change waste behaviour in cafes, so were thrilled to share our virtual chat with Abigail about the company, and their philosophies and approach to sustainability! On founding KeepCup [We] were running cafes in Melbourne and [becoming] increasingly concerned about the volume of packaging being consumed, particularly disposable, non-recyclable cups. From there KeepCup was born, the worlds first barista standard reusable cup for people to enjoy better coffee on the go.The goal was always to kick start behaviour change, from discard to reuse to deliver a positive global campaign that would change the status quo. On sustainability and working with Reground We believe that all businesses have a responsibility to our planet and must consider the sustainability of their operations as a priority to ensure we secure an equitable, biodiverse planet for future generations...we want more impact when it comes to behaviour change and advocacy...Our missions aligned [with Regrounds] in helping cafes reduce their footprint, with KeepCup users diverting millions of throwaway cups from landfill every day and Reground diverting coffee grounds from landfill and helping shift to a circular economy...On a personal note, I am passionate in supporting local, female owned and led businesses. KeepCup are also one Australias founding Bcorporations. What does that mean exactly? [Being] BCorp certified [means that] were legally bound to consider, and report on, our impact across five areas: workers, customers, suppliers, community and the environment. This rigorous report is externally assessed by BLab and completed every three years. To maintain certification, we must meet a minimum standard across all impact areas and are committed to sharing these scores publicly whilst using these metrics to refine our focus and identify areas that need improvement. The areas were working on include carbon neutrality (weve set a 2025 carbon neutral target and are focused on real reduction over offsetting), working with our suppliers to reduce impact (from packaging to carbon and beyond), bettering our supply and demand planning to reduce overstock, end of life recycling solutions for products in all hubs and working with our team globally on increased volunteering and professional development. KeepCups operations have been impacted by the pandemic- albeit in different ways to some of the other businesses weve profiled. Abigail and the teams biggest takeaway from this year? That ...the climate crisis is far more urgent and catastrophic than we imagined - and its all linked. The changes required cannot be incremental, we need to literally just stop some of the harmful impacts on the planet, beginning with unnecessary and problematic single-use plastics. Thanks for chatting, Abigail! Remember to bring your keepcup next time you get a takeaway coffee.

04.01.2022 As a B Corp that sells a physical product, weve always worked hard to balance our business practice with positive impacts. We hand assemble in solar-powered warehouses, with our Melbourne array soon to be feeding power back into the grid. Our retail packaging is FSC certified cardboard and our mailers are made from 100% recycled board. Since 2016, weve partnered with Reground to compost our office coffee grounds and recycle soft plastics. We commit 1% of our yearly global revenue (as opposed to profit) to environmental causes. Its a constantly shifting work-in-progress and were always looking for new ways to reduce our impact. | This is the 5th and final post in our B Corp Month series | #KeepCupBCorp

02.01.2022 "When I was traveling on tours for work, I was on a mission to stop using disposable coffee cups. Things like the KeepCup weren’t as popular back then. I don’t remember when I originally got this - it was a long time ago - but when I did, I was like, 'The search is over.' Maybe it’s unrealistic to say, 'I’m never going to touch a single-use piece of plastic again.' But if you pick one thing like coffee, which is so ritualistic, making a small change like this can have a big impact." ~ Adriene Mishler in The Strategist
