25.01.2022 Wet and noisy. Some very happy animals.

21.01.2022 Some panaramas of the lagoon taken last week. It is so beautiful with the huge amounts of water we have had fall recently, muddy though and unfortunately quite a bit of small plastic rubbish on the banks of the river. We will be getting ready for spring this Sunday at 3pm (unless there is lots of rain) with a little Covid safe clean up, drop by if you are around.

20.01.2022 Don't be put off by a bit of rain today. Unless there is a deluge with thunder and lightning we will still meet at the Lagoon at 4 pm.

17.01.2022 Welcome to the first page for the Otago Bay Coast care group.

13.01.2022 Get ready for a summer time cleanup of the Lagoon, while it is empty of water. Meet us on Sunday the 23rd of February at 4pm. We have chose this time because it is also low tide and we might be able to clean around the rocks.

12.01.2022 Dear Otago Coast Care friends it is with sadness we say VALE Andrew CHARLTON... CHARLTON Andrew Christopher 21.11.1938 - 09.10.2020 Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Loved husband of Sheila and father of Angela. Brother of Felicity (dec) and Susan. Rest in peace Andrew was a wonderful friend of the inaugural Otago Coast Care Group. Andrew had researched the entire area of Otago and was an amazing font of knowledge on all things Otago, even more so the lagoon. Andrew loved the lagoon passionately. He knew so much about the lagoon that at times I would have though he was on first name basis with so many of the creatures and floral residents. Andrew researched the lagoon from all angles; historical and scientific and he was very proud of its unique qualities. Andrew you are greatly missed. Condolences to Andrews family

08.01.2022 We hope everybody is doing okay during this stay at home, stay safe period of time. Please let us know if you need, or you know someone who might need a hand during this strange time. Oh and thank you to the Buddhist monk who does a wonderful sweeping down near the Otago we love seeing you going about your daily ritual. We are so lucky to live where we do.

07.01.2022 So much rain! Good morning Otago CC friends. The lagoon is extremely full now and the swans love it. When the water recedes and it is safe we will organise a Covid safe meet up at the Lagoon. In the meantime there will be a lot of litter throughout the Otago area while flooding lasts, please don't be tempted to go into unsafe waters, we will clean things up when it is safe. Be like a swan and enjoy this uncommon event.

07.01.2022 Remember we are meeting up today at the Lagoon 4 pm. It is pretty clean but it would be great to meet more supporters of keeping Otago clean .Remember we are meeting up today at the Lagoon 4 pm. It is pretty clean but it would be great to meet more supporters of keeping Otago clean .

07.01.2022 A few of us met up on the 23rd FEB and cleaned up a pretty clean lagoon. It was great to meet another newcomer to Otago. We found it interesting to be able to walk in the lagoon, and a little disconcerting? It was totally dry! which is quite unusual. The lagoon is generally muddy dry, not parched. I am wondering if the new drainage might have something to do with this. Any comments/ ideas from people that have watched the lagoon for more years than I have.

05.01.2022 We know people living in Otago enjoy their privacy but over the coming period of time it would be good if we could keep an eye on our wider community and help anyone if needed. This is the only Otago Bay community forum (that I know of) so please feel to use this forum if you are worried, needing something/help or if you know someone that needs some community support. Please share to the wider Otago community.
