25.01.2022 A brief report on the week at Keepit. Adann, our Tuggie, organized a group of 8 friends to visit including 4 girls. Most arrived last Sunday. All Juniors and most with early Commercial Licenses who have suffered during Covid and were looking for a way to continue to enjoy aviation. We have had Charlie India, Uniform Romeo and India Kilo Xray in the air all week with up to 25 launched each day. 3 solos by today with a couple staying over the weekend to continue training. ...All have become Members and say they will be back. The place has been buzzing day and night. A great thanks to Ian Alder, Adann, Steve Hedley and Kerry Klein for their support. Bill Gleeson-Barker also made an appearance. Allan Barnes and Attila Bertok flew yesterday, as did I. Michael Vince from Central Coast has been at the Club doing a Form 2 on their PW5. Light at the end of the Covid tunnel! CB for LKSC

22.01.2022 Tasking - D7. A gust front forecast to arrive at 1730hrs has resulted in a minimum 2,000' AGL finish height at 15km. 20.01.2022 Congratulations President Kel on completing your 1st 50km Green C.
19.01.2022 Lake Keepit GP is getting more popular. More ignominy if you come last.
19.01.2022 Dear All, Whether it is La Nina or the Indian Ocean Dipole we are having a very different summer to last year. Lots of moisture, lots of storms, not a whole lot of wind. The last week at Keepit was, despite some pessimistic forecasts, a fantastic flying week. Lots of us enjoyed the energy lines associated with warmth and moisture. Jacques Graells reeled out 426 km last Wednesday and everyone who flew enjoyed the dramatic three dimensional skies.... We are converting Cameron Tunbridge from hang gliding with solo performances in the PW5 fleet. He is marvelling at their awe inspiring speed and penetration by contrast with his usual mounts. There was a strong showing by the younger generation this weekend past with Delilah and Liam advancing their flying led by Cam Barlett as Duty Instructor on Sunday. Their combined ages well inside that of some of our more experienced members. Jake Collins, our early summer tuggie will be returning to his day job at the end of January shepherding a fleet of drones around Canberra's skies delivering coffee and condoms to the needy. We are going to welcome Tom Berger who is an Omarama trained tug pilot. Not likely to be troubled by our mild conditions and low relief. Happy soaring, LD & ID for LKSC
19.01.2022 While our more coastal members are getting a little damp, Paradise is still coming up with the goods. The forecast for today was rubbish, we postponed the Scouts winching day and the day started with brilliant sunshine followed 5 mins later by a cloud base of around 500 feet. By 10 o’clock we called our AEF bookings and told them to come on over. We had a grand day out. Garry and Pauline were up first followed by Big Birthday Girl Robyn and friends Jo and Jenny. The birthday flight was followed by posh table cloths, champagne, nibbles and much frivolity. Huge thanks to Peter Crowhurst for help with the gliders, Ian Sawell, fellow pilot, Andrew White for visitor wrangling and being an all round jolly soul and Jay Anderson for towing.
19.01.2022 To All Our Valued Members: Lake Keepit Soaring Club would like to wish all of our members a very Merry Christmas and warmest wishes for a happy, healthy 2021. Whilst 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for everyone, we look back on it with gratitude for having people like you supporting our club. As one year ends & another begins, we thank all of LKSC Members sincerely for your hard work & contributions that ensure the club runs smoothly. Without you, it would not be... possible. Season’s Greetings to you and your families for a wonderful holiday season and look forward to seeing everyone here in the New Year. Regards Ian, Michelle & the team

12.01.2022 Looking to self-isolate? At Lake Keepit with barely 3 humans per square kilometre, you can happily achieve social separation away from the viral petri dish of city life and still enjoy life to the full. Bring your own germ-free glider and tie it down far from anywhere or simply sanitise the well-equipped cockpit of one of LKSCs club gliders with a quick alcohol wipe.... Keepit’s 365 day a year operation means you can stay as long as you like to avoid re-infection and with a wide range of accommodation choices from luxury to camping, you’re as isolated as you want. Instruction and coaching by quarantined instructors is available for those wanting to brush up old skills or learn some new ones while you still can.
11.01.2022 While Jacques is unable to run the scheduled MinGP next weekend, that’s no reason we can’t fly. Weather forecast is looking good, and I plan to be there Sat/Mon, and I understand a few others are planning to join in. I’m happy to set tasks for the weekend, and while I’m not sure I can run Jacques’ program, we can still set approximate handicapped circles for everyone wishing to fly. Kerry is trying to get numbers I understand there are two tugs available.... Also it would help to know numbers coming for dinner. I can organise cooking for night other volunteer cooks? But we need to know the numbers. Kerry also wants to get accommodation reservations confirmed if you have reserved a room but not coming please cancel your booking, or let Kerry/Michelle know. Dave S for LKSC
11.01.2022 Day results for day 7 are as follows: In the short wings, Allan Barnes (S7) cemented his lead with 114.87kph & 1,000pts while Paul Dickson (UKC) managed to jump a spot with 98.03kph & 752pts. Finally, Kel Burgess (XBY) decided to go out strong on 97.06kph & 721pts In the long wings, two competitors had their eye on the prize and at only 183pts apart is was anyone’s game. Bruce Taylor (QR) held off a challenge from Mac Ichikawa (1M) to win the day with 138.31kph & 1,000pts. ... Mac finished close behind with 133.70kph while Jacques Graells (K1) achieve 132.51 and equal points on handicap: 916pts. Final results are next
11.01.2022 Results - D6. A slight delay in the completion of scoring this evening as scoring was interrupted by an assault from a dentist. Nevertheless, the results from the penultimate day of racing are now in and we've been rewarded with some jostling at the top. Among the short wings, David Pickles (AY) repeated his first place performance from yesterday, leading the gaggle home with 103.96kph. That not only beat all others in the group by points but also 'off the stick'! Allan... Barnes (S7) came second with 103.94kph and David Turner (RT) third with 99.48kph. The long wings saw Bruce Taylor (QR) winning the day with a lead increasing 124.62kph. Brad Edwards (1B) turned in a better performance off the stick but once handicaps were applied, found himself 13pts behind for the day. Jacques Graells (K1) came third with 114.61kph. In 18m/Open, that puts 1st, 2nd & 3rd within 260pts of each other, going into the final day. It would take quite a reversal of fortune to see Allan Barnes (S7) lose his lead in Club/Std/15 but messers Dickson (UKC) and Turner (RT) are only 28pts apart in the fight for 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
11.01.2022 Liam from Central Coast did his first aerotow solo last week, impressing Ian Downes with his flying skills in the process. Congratulations Liam!

03.01.2022 LKSC wishes to congratulate the following winners: Overall champion: Dave Shorter, JS1, LKSC & Most improved: Milan Sejka, LS8, Kingaroy And thanks to the capacity crowd of competitors that made it such a fun comp. Like many of the other competitions this season, we were not spared character-building conditions. Mass landouts, long retrieves and even winching trailers through 2ft of mud featured this year but despite this, we managed to suffer only 1 cancelled day.... The willingness of the pilot group to launch / relight / rig / fly again the next day was phenomenal. Evening meals included wood-fired pizza night & final dinner at Carroll Gap Farmhouse, a French feast as well as the biggest Paella gliding has ever seen. Morning talks were on wave flying, glider fettling for improved performance, glider repairs, using IGCspy for a competitive advantage and the Dart 17R to name a few. DAY WINNERS, were as follows: Day P - Graells (1), Sim & Barraclough (2), Shorter (3) Day 1 - [cancelled] Day 2 - Sejka (1), Sim & Barraclough (2), Smith & Smith (3) Day 3 - Lewis (1), Shorter (2), Sim & Barraclough (3) Day 4 - Edwards & Ivelin (1), Shorter (2), Sejka (3) Day 5 - Edwards & Phelan (1), Shorter (2), Graells (3) Day 6 - Lewis / Graells (=1), Shorter (3), Sim & Barraclough (4) Day 7 - Lewis (1), Dickson (2), Shorter (3) OVERALL Shorter (1), Graells / Lewis (=2), Sejka (4) Until next year folks!
