24.01.2022 If it’s full, forget it. Take your rubbish home with you is the message Keep Queensland Beautiful CEO, David Curtin has focused on this afternoon when he launched the In the bin, or be fined campaign. Keep Queensland Beautiful has secured funding to install High Definition CCTV at litter hotspots across the Southeast to catch Litterbugs who leave rubbish beside the bin, instead of taking it home with them. The trial started this weekend in Redlands, Logan and Ipswich. We ho...pe to be able to identify people who do the wrong thing through numberplate recognition and then the Department of Environment will have the evidence to issue penalties to offenders. We are also lobbying for the penalty (currently $266) to be increased. At least double what it is now. said Curtin. If we don’t have adequate deterrents, people will continue to do the wrong thing, the easy, thoughtless thing. It’s just as easy to bag it, take it home and bin it responsibly.

24.01.2022 Another 510 natives in the ground, bringing the total to 41,790 trees planted at the Brettacorp Adopt-a-Spot site north of the Tully. Thanks to all the amazing volunteers who have over many years contributed to turning the former grass-weed overgrown parcel of land into a lovely native forest Our Adopt-a-Spot program isn’t just for litter collection. We have groups who build community gardens, maintain rest areas for travellers, rejuvenate waterways, paint beautiful mura...ls, stop erosion and weed eradication... You too can contribute to a cleaner, greener and litter-free Queensland by registering your interest in a site (it can be a local park, street/s or roadsides, a creek or your neighbourhood - practically any public space that needs some TLC) Register your interest online: http://www.adoptaspot.org.au Working as a team to keep Queensland beautiful #keepqueenslandbeautiful #ourqld #lovequeensland Leeanne Enoch MP

Can you believe it? This year has zoomed past - we are looking forward to launching some new and exciting initiatives early in 2021 - let’s hope the COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease and we can be back in full swing!

19.01.2022 WHAT A CHAMPION #Repost @kierondouglass Well there you have it. 100km whilst planting 100 trees and plants. What a day! Finishing late last night in over 12 hours planting my last few trees with a head torch. It wasn’t my fastest run but gees it was a rewarding one. I may never see these beautiful gums grow to reach their full potential in my life time, but yesterday wasn’t about me... It was about planting for the future. Not only for the next generation to enjoy but... for the generation after that and so on. And more importantly, for our local wildlife that thrives here on the @redlandscoast to which I saw plenty of yesterday. _______________________________________________________ I would like to thank the @redlandscoast @redlandcouncil @indigiscapes and @wildearthaustralia for allowing me to bring ‘The 100 Project’ to life. Thank you to the crew @totallywildtv for coming out to film and for joining me on a loop. A special mention to my good mate @dansmart182 for giving up his Saturday to come and film the day. Thank you mate. I would also like to thank each and everyone of you who came out to support throughout the day/night. You all played such a vital part of the day, I couldn’t thank you enough. A special mention to @madgooo who turned up late last night to run the last two 10km loops with me with one of those loops done without a head torch. That was a fun loop. And lastly, to my wife and kids for making yesterday even more special and for crewing me until the end. _______________________________________________________ - @ambercarlynphotography Thank you Amber @wildearthaustralia #runwild #mywildearth #redlandscoast #conservation #thisisqueensland #seeaustralia #lovetorun #run @keepqueenslandbeautiful @queensland #keepqueenslandbeautiful #ourqld See more

09.01.2022 World Heritage Day, which is also known as the International Monuments and Sites Day, celebrates the work carried out by the ICOMOS International Council on Monuments and Sites. The day is all about increasing the awareness of the importance of the diversity of cultural heritage and preserving it for generations in the future. Yesterday, our CEO had an opportunity to visit the World War II receiving station and the old Willards Farm at Birkdale in the Redland City. The deve...lopment of the site is currently in the community consultation phase to see what might become of the 62ha area- open space, white water rafting facilities, nature walks, a Southbank style water play park, environmental education centre, kayaking down Tingalpa Creek, camping or glamping eco-tourism are just a few great ideas being considered. Have your day on the Redland City Council website. See more
