21.01.2022 This is a good sign for potential Migrants as callings remains same. Wait is still on for announcement for state and territory governments in coming days!! Immigration... A carefully managed Migration Program is an important part of Australia's economic recovery and will create jobs and bring high value investment to help Australia rebound from COVID-19. In 2020-21 the planned ceiling for the Migration Program will remain at 160,000 places. The program will have a strong focus on attracting the best and brightest migrants from around the world, with a tripling of the Global Talent Independent program allocation to 15,000 places and an increase in the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) to 13,500 places. The BIIP will also be streamlined and reformed to ensure that investments are targeted at Australian venture capitals and emerging small and medium size businesses to support the economic recovery. The Family stream planning level has been set at 77,300 places, including 72,300 within the Partner category. While overall the government has placed greater emphasis on the family stream, most of these are people already in Australia. Of the new permanent residents coming into the country, we still anticipate that approximately two thirds will be in the skilled stream and one third from the family stream. There will be 13,750 places allocated for the Humanitarian Program. The Government will continue to invest to improve settlement and employment outcomes for humanitarian entrants, including through previously announced reforms to the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), and developing a reform program for settlement services and the Community Sponsorship Program. The Government will also offer Visa Application Charge (VAC) refunds, waivers or visa extensions to visa holders who have been unable to travel to Australia due to COVID-19. This includes waiving the VAC for Working Holiday Makers and Visitors to boost tourism once the borders re-open. https://minister.homeaffairs.gov.au//Securing-and-Uniting-

Online application access will then reopen 29 January 2021 at 1pm (AEDT). 20.01.2022 With the international borders still closed, our migration numbers are expected to go backwards, which is a bad thing for the economy. The Government is forecasting our net overseas migration will fall from around 154,000 in 2019-20 to -72,000 by the end of 2020-21. It'll gradually increase to around 201,000 in 2023-24.... In the budget papers it's assumed there'll be a gradual return of international students and permanent migrants in the later part of 2021 as travel begins to resume. There is some hope, however, for people with partners who are overseas and want to come and live in Australia. The Government is increasing the family stream of immigration "on a one-off basis" and prioritising partner visitors for people living in regional Australia. https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-federal-budg/12684802

Family Stream places will increase from 47,732 to 77,300 places on a one-off basis for the 2020-21 Migration Program year, and Employer Sponsored, Global Talent, Business Innovation and Investment Program visas will be prioritised within the Skilled Stream. 03.01.2022 More details of the budget measures including details of an english language requirement for Partner visas The Government will maintain the 2020-21 Migration Program planning level at 160,000. Family Stream places will increase from 47,732 to 77,300 places on a one-off basis for the 2020-21 Migration Program year, and Employer Sponsored, Global Talent, Business Innovation and Investment Program visas will be prioritised within the Skilled Stream. Onshore visa applicants an...d Partner visa applicants where the relevant sponsor resides in a designated regional area will also be prioritised for the 2020-21 Migration Program. These changes will help maximise the economic benefits of the Migration Program, and enhance the responsiveness of the program to evolving health and economic challenges. The increased number of places for Partner visas and the prioritisation of onshore migrants is expected to reduce receipts by $320.0 million over the forward estimates period, and the additional demands for English language services and income support by Partner migrants are expected to increase payments by $123.1 million over the forward estimates period. This is partially offset by reduced GST payments to the States and Territories of $55.0 million over the forward estimates period. From 1 July 2021, the Government will streamline and improve the operation of the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP). The Government will introduce changes to improve the quality of investments and applicants. Visa application charges for BIIP visas will also be increased by an additional 11.3 per cent (above regular CPI indexation) on 1 July 2021. These changes will sharpen the focus of the BIIP program on higher value investors, business owners and entrepreneurs and improve the economic outcomes of the BIIP. This measure is estimated to have no net impact on receipts over the forward estimates period. The Department of Home Affairs will be provided with $1.2 million to implement the proposal. The Government will apply the family sponsorship framework to Partner visas which will mandate character checks and the sharing of personal information as part of a mandatory sponsorship application, and subject the sponsor to enforceable sponsorship obligations. These changes will complement existing family violence provisions within the Partner visa program. The Government will introduce English language requirements for Partner visa applicants and their permanent resident sponsors. These changes will help support English language acquisition and enhance social cohesion and economic participation outcomes. https://budget.gov.au//conte/bp2/download/bp2_complete.pdf

02.01.2022 Victoria State Migration Update ------------------------------------ Victoria’s Significant Investor (subclass 188C) visa nominations open on Monday, 30 November From 9AM AEST on Monday 30 November, the Victorian Government will open to receive new applications for Significant Investor (subclass 188C) visa (SIV) nominations. The re-opening is possible due to a limited number of visa places remaining from the Commonwealth Government’s interim allocation in August 2020.... New state nomination visa places pending The Victorian Government is awaiting further advice from the Department of Home Affairs on the allocations for skilled, business and investor state nominations for the remainder of the 2020-21 program year. We will provide an update as more information becomes available. Please continue to check our website news for updates. In the meantime, all other business innovation and investor visa nomination applications (subclass 188A, 188B, and 188E streams and subclass 132A and 132B streams) and the skilled program (subclass 190 and subclass 491) remain closed to new applications. We continue to select high calibre skilled migrants for nomination from the pool of Registration of Interest submissions. More than half of nominated professionals graduated with an Australian qualification More than half of the professionals nominated for a Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa in our September 2020 campaign had studied in Australia prior to their Victorian nomination. Students at university An analysis of Victoria’s interim 2020-21 skilled visa nomination program shows that 53 per cent of the 368 people nominated to date for a subclass 190 visa had graduated with an Australian qualification. Of those nominated, 27 had graduated with a PhD - 24 of which were completed in Victoria. Due to the new requirement, all nominees were already living and working in Victoria in heath or medical research and contributing to Victoria’s economic recovery. Once the program reopens, we continue to welcome students and PhD graduates to apply for Victorian visa nomination. All applicants must meet the minimum eligibility criteria to be considered for nomination. (Source: VIctorian State Government) See more
