23.01.2022 Keilor Basketball Association Return to Basketball Update July 8 In line with the Victorian Governments announcement yesterday (July 7) of increased COVID-19 restrictions (return to Stage 3) for the Melbourne metropolitan area and advice from Basketball Victoria (BV), Keilor Basketball (KBA) advises the following: VJBL (Junior Rep) season for 2020 is cancelled BigV (Senior Rep) Season for 2020 is cancelled... Senior Domestic season start is postponed Junior Domestic Return to Basketball scheduled to begin on 18th July is cancelled Keilor Basketball is now reviewing start dates for envisaged recommencement of domestic basketball seasons (Senior & Junior) for later in 2020 following the end of the current COVID-19 Stage 3 restrictions on 20th August (subject to advice from Victorian Government & Basketball Victoria) Planning for 2021 VJBL & BIG V seasons is also underway. While yesterdays announcement is disappointing for KBAs players, parents, referees, staff, teams and clubs, be assured that basketball will be back. Further information will be communicated to our basketball community in the coming weeks. In the meantime, stay safe and do the right thing for your family, friends and community. 20.01.2022 #OFFICIAL December 13, 2020 / Melbourne Australia Last Sunday, Jaz Salon and Mic Salon received their awards from the opening day of Liga Australia. Jaz Salon ...was the unanimous Filipina Baller of the Decade as awarded by Liga Australia with the support of other Filipino Leagues in major cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Northern Territory & Brisbane. She earned the award for being named MVP multiple times in VJBL, a youth league in the State of Victoria. Mic Salon received the Coach and Trainer of the Year award for his impact & work for the youth of Melbourne West and surrounding areas. He runs MIC Training, a basketball coaching and development business and they have produced some of the upcoming stars playing in several leagues such as Liga Australia, Big V, MBL & VJBL. He is also part of the NBTC -U19 who manages and trains the best Filipino-Australian U-19 players here in Australia. Allen Magtanong & Jalen Salon who both recently won Players of the Week here in Liga Australia, is a big testament to what Mic Training can do to the young ballers of Melbourne. Liga Australia is an organisation of Filipino leagues here in Australia. We are uniting the leagues together and in terms of merits and awards we seek out across Australia for the deserving people to earn our awards. We consulted several leagues before we give out the yearly recognition for outstanding Filipinos in the game of Basketball. Congratulations!
