25.01.2022 This dog is still missing but has been sighted. The owners request that you do not try and catch it but just ring them. Good news! The dog has been found!

24.01.2022 Dear Members We have been advised today by the council that we will not be able to train on A.J.Davis Reserve until the current restrictions are lifted in the area. Thank you to all of the members that booked in over the last two weeks. Remember to practice what you were taught and also have a look at the videos Julie made for Class 1 on this page. Hopefully we will see you all back at training in August.... KODTC

24.01.2022 Important information to remember when you get a new puppy.

23.01.2022 Due to the year that we have had there have been very few promotions. However there were some promotions to class 2 that were not celebrated back in March. The first 3 are: Steven and Millie, the Wippet; Allison and Oscar, the Dachshund; and Myrianne and Abby the Border Collie Cross. Belated congratulation and we hope to see you all back at training in class 2 asap if we haven't seen you already.

22.01.2022 Hi Members, we have received some good feedback from my last post with some of our members asking for help in various areas. Our clever instructors are going to be responding to these issues on this page with either a video or a written response to the issue over the coming weeks. Our first issue that we will be dealing with is teaching our dogs to go out the door when you allow and not to knock you over in the process! Instructor Nicolle has prepared an excellent video on this using her own dogs and this will be uploaded to this page shortly. Hope you enjoy the video and find it helpful!

22.01.2022 Here is a video for members about door manners training!

21.01.2022 The other promotions from class 1 to class 2 from back in March are: Fay and Misty, the West Highland Terrier; Agatha and Oscar, the Maltese Cross; and Georgie & Karina and Spirit, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Another dog who we do not have the details of, other than a photo was also promoted. We need the handler to let us know the details so we can record the dog as having been promoted. Once again well done and keep up the good work. We look forward to seeing all of you working in class 2.

13.01.2022 Well as you might have gathered we will not be returning to training this Sunday but we are getting really close. We need to complete some Council requirements and then we are back. Look forward to seeing you all soon.

12.01.2022 I would like to thank the members that attended last weeks AGM. It was good to see so many of you. The committee has decided that we will extend the training year by two weeks this year (weather permitting). We have missed a lot of training days so thought this might help. We have also decided to run an very small induction session via Zoom next Wednesday at 7:30pm. We have a couple of spots left so if you are interested please email us at [email protected]. First in wil...l get the spots. We need to know by tomorrow night. You will have to complete the membership application before you do the session and I will send the lucky ones the link. There was also a motion passed at the AGM regarding next years fees. If you joined or renewed during 2020 then next years renewal fee will be $1. Our constitution states that we must charge a fee so that is why we have gone this way. Please contact us if you have any queries. Don't forget if you want to come to class on Sunday you must go through the booking system. See more

11.01.2022 Update on Training! We have sent an email out to all current members advising them of a temporary training structure in line with current restrictions. If you are a current member and did not receive an email, please send us a message and we will gladly assist. For anyone wishing to join the club, unfortunately we are still not taking new memberships at this time. Please keep an eye on this page for further updates.

11.01.2022 Dogs & Toddlers from Family Paws Parent Education An Online Presentation for KODTC Members by Lisa Bert, CPDT-KA, KPA CTP. Dogs & Toddlers is ideal for families with dogs and babies soon to be crawling or walking and is great for parents of toddlers, grandparents, and caregivers as well. Gain insight and proactive options for handling common challenges that families with dogs experience as baby becomes mobile.... Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, Lisa was preparing to give her presentation at the Keilor clubrooms, following our regular Sunday training. Several members had already registered their interest in the presentation, but sadly, it had to be put on hold. Thankfully, Lisa has generously offered to provide her presentation in the form of online "webinar" some time in May 2020. See Poll in comments below to register your interest in this webinar :-)

11.01.2022 Update on Training! After consulting the council over the recent changes to COVID-19 restrictions, we are pleased to advise that training will still go ahead this Sunday. Any existing members of KODTC can book a spot for this Sundays training by clicking the link below.... https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=19820631 We are still prioritising class 1 at the moment so please be aware that you are not guaranteed a spot at training until you receive a confirmation email with your allocated time. For anyone wishing to join the club, unfortunately we are still not taking new memberships at this time. Please keep an eye on this page for further updates.

11.01.2022 PHOTO COMPETITION TIME!! Our dogs often sleep in weird positions. This is Cassie as a pup who decided that the concrete was a more comfortable pillow than the bed! How about you post us a photo of your dogs weirdest/funniest sleeping position. We will have prizes for the best photos and you can post as many as you like. The competition is now open and will close on Sunday 26 July 2020. It is only open to Keilor Obedience Dog Training Club members so please put your name, dogs name and membership number on your post.

09.01.2022 Hello members I hope you are all keeping safe. This video is a short summary of how to train a bow. I hope you find it helpful.

09.01.2022 It was great to see members back at training today. The weather turned out great. Hopefully we will see more of you next week provided the restriction changes do not affect us. We will post any changes that we are told about

08.01.2022 UPDATE We are currently working on a document for the Council to show how we will manage a return to training under the current restrictions. Training will look a lot different as do most things at present. It may mean that we bring some back sooner than others but we will do the best we can. Once the document has been approved by Council we will post an update and an email will be sent informing you when you can return to training. We are also working with Dogs Vic who w...e are affiliated with and who we are insured through. Unfortunately as all Dogs Vic events were cancelled they suspended all insurance. There is a special meeting of their Management Committee tonight where we are hoping that they will reinstate the insurance. We can not train without it. I have spoken with a member of the MC who is hopeful all will be sort soon. I hope that you have all been doing some training with your dogs during this time. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Joy Allen

07.01.2022 Hi members, please note that the Club is still closed and will be until the State government eases restrictions and the Moonee Valley council allows the grounds to be reopened to clubs. In the meantime should you have any problems with your training please feel free to contact us via this page or our website and we will endeavour to assist you with the problem. Please stay safe and give your dogs a pat and cuddle for us as we are missing you and all your wonderful dogs.

07.01.2022 Hi Members, to help with your training at this time please let us know what exercise/trick/behaviour you would like to learn or are having trouble with, and we will get one of our talented instructors to demonstrate it for you on video and post it here for everyone to see. So let us know what your issue is and the one that is commented on the most will be the one that we do and depending upon how many we get we may do more over the coming weeks. So let us know by Friday 14/8 and then give us another week for our instructor to put the video together and we will then post it. Stay safe everyone!

07.01.2022 Members sometimes find that their dogs can become a bit too attached, appear "clingy" and just want to be with them all the time. in this article from our instructor Anne, she provides some advice on how to make your dog more independent. 07.01.2022 Well we had hoped for better news regarding restrictions last weekend but that is not the case. At this stage we do not know when we will be able to start training again. We have to wait until the Council gives us permission to use the ground again. We normally have our AGM in November. We have not set the date as yet but it appears will have to do it online. Once we have finalized everything we will let you know. We do need members to attend this session so we meet the rules in the Constitution. Our instructors are currently working on some more training videos for you so keep an eye out for them. I hope you are all doing some training and looking after your four legged friends. It goes without saying that I hope all of you are doing ok. I know it is hard at present but we can get through it. Stay Safe everyone. Joy

07.01.2022 Update on Training! Bookings have opened up for this Sunday! We have now opened up bookings for class 4! For any existing members of KODTC that dont have the booking link, you can book a spot for this Sundays training by clicking the link below. https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=19820631 We are still prioritising class 1 at the moment so please be aware that you are not guaranteed a spot at training until you receive a confirmation email with your allocated time. 06.01.2022 Back at training on a nice sunny winters day

06.01.2022 As everyone would be aware we are in lockdown for the next 6 weeks so no dog club until at least the middle of August at this stage. For those that did manage to get to class for the two weeks we were open remember to practice what you learnt. Also check out the videos on this page. Stay safe everyone.

04.01.2022 For anyone still taking their dogs for a walk at AJ Davis reserve, the council requires all dogs to remain on lead going forward.

03.01.2022 UPDATE We have submitted a request to the Council to allow us to start training again in the next couple of weeks. We do not have approval as yet and need to wait for the Council to get back to us. This training will not be as it was before the lock down. We will be creating a booking form that will be available to all current financial members. We will notify you of your class time and you must get checked off before going into a class and anyone not on the list we will a...sked to leave. If you arrive late you will not be able to train. A lot depends on the response we get but at first we are looking at bringing back Class 1. We will have to have a rule of one dog one person. Club rooms will not be opened so you must ensure that you bring your own treats and poo bags. We also cant have anyone sitting at the front of the club rooms. If you are waiting for someone you must wait in your car. We will have some sanitizer available but suggest that where possible you bring your own. No membership card no training. So you need to check that you still have one or contact us so we can make arrangements to have one on the day. There will be no socialisation walk. Classes will start at 9:30 and go for half an hour only. Once your class is finished you must leave the ground immediately. No standing around having a chat. We are planning to have two sessions so need to get the first off the ground before the next can come down. We are still refining the details and once all is worked through you will get an update. We do recommend that you download the COVID-19 app. See more

03.01.2022 Heres my Cassie doing what most dogs are doing at this time - sleeping!! So how about sharing photos of what your dog is doing!

03.01.2022 All of the spots for the induction session have now been filled. Also you need to make a booking every week you want to train please. We need a true list of people who we are expecting on the ground each Sunday. If you book and then find you can't make it please let us know. If was great to see everyone at training again today the weather was perfect for class

02.01.2022 Don't forget to book in for training tomorrow. Closing soon

01.01.2022 An email has been sent out to all members with the Zoom conference details for the AGM tomorrow night at 7:30 PM AEDT, along with the Agenda and reports. If you didn't receive the email, please contact us via messenger or email [email protected] and we will provide the details to you personally. Kind regards, KODTC Committee
