23.01.2022 I believe we need to ensure that our youth have access to a great education, to set them up to succeed in the workforce and life. I attended a recent Job Skills Expo at Lardner Park and spoke with the attendees. I will continue to advocate on behalf of our youth for the right funding and facilities for their schooling and their future.

21.01.2022 Today is the last day to vote!! Remember to have your ballot posted by 6pm Friday 23rd October, or your local postbox clearance time (tonight) to make sure it is counted. Voting is the most important part of our democracy, and the power to choose who will represent our community is in your hands. It is a great honour and a privilege to serve you as a councillor, and I’d like to sincerely thank everyone for participating in our democratic process and voting.

20.01.2022 The Shire has recently approved an $11m contract to maintain its network of 1,800km of roads. Here is a brand new grader which has formed Alcorn Rd Labertouche.

13.01.2022 The intersection at Wellwood rd and Princes way is a serious concern, currently, as the two roads run parallel, large trucks are forced to make a choice between completing a very unsafe U-turn to get out to the freeway or to make a slightly less dangerous turn and drive through the centre of Drouin. In 2017 Regional Roads Victoria has cited this intersection, stating that they aim to address the community’s concerns about safety, accessibility and congestion at the intersect...ion. See the link below. I will make it a priority to work with Baw Baw Shire Council and Regional Roads Victoria to find the best solution for this intersection, so large trucks can make the turn safely and avoid unnecessary congestion through the town centre. Vote 1 Keith Cook RRV Link in comments.

11.01.2022 The West Gippsland Libraries offer a wide range of services for people of all ages specifically tailored to the Covid world. Click and collect books, the Borrow Box app for free ebooks and audiobooks. Kids storytime online, and great competitions. You can escape to a new world, or just upskill yourself, and even better there is free membership for anyone living in Baw Baw Shire. Amenities like libraries, halls, men’s sheds, and community hubs, provide an essential service to the local communities they operate in, and provide a great place for people to meet, enjoy a positive environment, and promote mental health and wellbeing.

10.01.2022 With the crime rate in Baw Baw increasing by 8.1% over last year, it’s time we talk about the Drouin police station. It was built in 1970 when the population was 2750 and it really is just a house. Police chiefs say the station will get another senior sergeant and a leading senior constable, making 2 sergeants and 10 officers in a building that is seriously inadequate and is not built to service the growing population in the west ward of Baw Baw Shire. I believe that our community deserve a modern 24-hour manned station, that is fit for purpose and will serve our area into the future. I will advocate to and work with the Victorian Government for a new police station in Drouin to be located in a prominent location.

09.01.2022 The population growth rate for Drouin has been at around 26% over the last few censuses. If Drouin continues to grow at this rate then in only 6 years there will be 18,800 people living in Drouin. This highlights the need for the West Ward to have improved infrastructure, sporting and educational facilities.

09.01.2022 It was a nice day on Monday for a working bee with Friends of Drouin's Trees. We were installing plaques on the Trees of Nations at the Alex Goudie Park in Drouin. This is part of the beautiful Drouin Tree Walks that everyone should enjoy.

09.01.2022 Monday 2nd Mar 2020, I recorded 55 trucks turning onto and from Main South Rd Drouin in an hour. We must get the trucks out of Drouin’s main street. If re-elected as councillor, I will maintain my efforts in lobbying Governments for funding for a solution.

07.01.2022 It's great to hear that the football oval at Longwarry recreational reserve will soon receive a LED lighting upgrade, however as the people of Longwarry know the playing surface and the drainage still need improving. I will work with the Victorian Government (DELWP) to secure the funds for these needed improvements to their facility.

02.01.2022 This is one of the reasons I love our area. As I have walked through our many towns in the last few weeks, I have come across lots of wonderful people and creative displays. It really goes to show that even during these rough times, our great community still finds a way to shine bright, it’s a great example community spirit.

01.01.2022 During these hard times, while having a hospital that was built in 1939, the exceptional healthcare and social service workers in Baw Baw Shire have provided outstanding care and support. They are heroes. I believe that the people of West Gippsland deserve a world class hospital that not only eases our current burdens, but is also built for our growing future. I will lobby the Victorian and Federal Governments for funding so we can finally get it done.
