25.01.2022 Get involved have you say about the future of your Suburb.

25.01.2022 Trees have an important role in our community

25.01.2022 WASTE SERVICES UPDATE A number of the Citys waste services including on-demand bookings have recommenced. On-demand collection bookings have resumed... The Recycling Centre Balcattas Material Recovery Area (steel and cardboard) has reopened The Recycling Centre Balcattas Household Hazardous Waste drop-off area has reopened. The City will be operating these areas in line with the Governments social distancing advice. The Recycling Shop Balcatta will remain closed.

25.01.2022 Took the time today to recycle some cans. One of the ideas I like about it is you can get the 10 cent or just tell the Stirling team to donate the money to your local school or sporting club. If the school or club is signed up to the deposit scheme they can receive the refund from your deposit.

25.01.2022 Cant wait till October, start collecting

25.01.2022 We have been meeting with the City of Stirling on and off now for some weeks trying to work out how we might be able to reopen Balga Friday Market, and comply w...ith Covid-19 guidelines, and we have now reached agreement, but there are strings attached. In order to reopen, we have had to complete a Covid-19 safety plan, and complete a set of Covid-19 safe working procedures, which means, that we all have to work together, comply, with the rules, and recognise that non compliance will risk your attendance at the market. The market will be set up as it was prior to our close down back in March, the same number of bays, the same spacing, but the number of people selling in each bay is limited to a maximum of two people per bay- and they have to practice social distancing, and be a 2 meter distance from sellers in the next bay. Market patrons ( buyers & the public) must apply social distancing of 2 meters as they move around the market- they must also use sanitizer as and when necessary and when entering the market site. Sellers are required to provide sanitizer for each bay they occupy for their own use, and the use of customers. Some sellers in larger bays may be required to be relocated in order to maintain social distancing, and where there are sellers with 2 bays they are required to have no more that 4 people working in their bays all applying social distancing, and where sellers may have 3 bays its no more than 6 sellers, again all social distancing from each other ( some common sense may be-required here) There will be a requirement to apply sanitizer when you enter the market site from the main car park, at other locations, and when you are approached by market personnel who will operate throughout the market. But there will be a requirement for everybody for play by the rules, we have to do the right thing in accordance with the Covid-19 guidelines- and all other market patrons are required to follow the rules as well, and if the rules are not complied with, then we will be required to take action which may result in market attendance being refused- but we expect everyone to comply, do the right thing, and enjoy the return to our market. There may be City of Stirling officers checking at the market from time to time, and we will be in attendance making sure there are no problems, and to answer any questions you might have. So the news that everyone is waiting for, is when are we restarting, and because we have to arrange to have the market site marked out, the Covid-19 paperwork completed, the Covid-19 signs made, and advertising the return date, all of which will take a couple of weeks- so the Balga Friday Market will reopen on Friday the 11th September- so put this date in your calendar, tell your friends, and other market patrons who might be interested. Ancell & Helen will welcome you all back on the 11th September. See you all there.

24.01.2022 Stage one is now open, go check it out theyve done a great job.

Bina Parkland, meaning light of the morning has been selected by the community as ...the new name for the parkland at Princess Wallington Reserve. 17.01.2022 Better Suburbs is one of the biggest planning endeavors the Stirling Council has ever embarked on. We need to plan for the future and we need to do it right. So have your say of what our area should look like, what we want to see and expect from the better suburbs project.

16.01.2022 TENANCY RELIEF ACTION PLAN To take the immediate pressure off the City of Stirlings commercial tenancies and clubs, Council approved a $500,000 Tenancy Relief ...Action Plan last night. The plan includes a 12-months of free rent for community, social, cultural and sporting clubs, as well suspension of rent reviews, rent abatements and/or deferrals, release of bank guarantees or tenancy bonds, and early termination options on City properties. While we continue work on a sustainable, considered, long-term plan to support our community and ratepayers, this plan will give relief to a range of tenants who lease land or property from the City, Mayor Mark Irwin said. Council also approved the development and implementation of a comprehensive Economic Stimulus and Community Recovery Package as part of the Citys broader COVID-19 Response and Recovery Plan. 15.01.2022 Summer is the perfect time to get to know your neighbors.

15.01.2022 This Saturday the City of Stirling will be at the Westminster Community Food Garden between 10am and 11:30am seeking public consultation for the future of the Garden. Membership for the management group of the Westminster Garden is declining and at risk of closing if more volunteers cant be found. Is a community garden still wanted by the community or does the community wish the area used for a different propose? Get involved and have your say about this garden.

15.01.2022 Recently there’s been some talk regarding the red and yellow bins not being big enough for some family households. In 2015 the Stirling council went from one only 240L bin for everything to a 140L red bin and a 240L yellow and green bin. As this provide more bin space over the 3 bins it was welcomed by most residents of the City of Stirling. For the larger households that generate more rubbish the council can provide a larger bin at a reasonable cost per year.... Below are the cost per year to upsize or get an additional bin for your household. * Upgrade from 240L to 360L yellow lid recycling bin - $20 per year * Additional 240L yellow lid recycling bin - $40 per year * Additional 240L green lid garden organics bin - $40 per year * Upgrade from 140L to 240L red lid general waste bin - $150 per year * Establishment Fee - $100 - one off fee, applies to all lines above To order your bigger bin or find out more information contact the City of Stirling on 92058999 or email - [email protected]

09.01.2022 Hello residents of the Balga Ward. Firstly Id like to thank you all for doing the right thing and social distancing as much as possible. These are most certainly trying times and we much all do our bit to shop the spread of this virus. Just a council update. Basically all council run buildings have now be closed till further notice which includes the pools, community centres, libraries and recreation centres like the Herb Graham. All events have been canceled and all sportin...g matches and clubs have stopped operating. As of Tuesday the 31st of March all playgrounds, barbecues, drinking fountains, dog exercise areas and skate facilities will be closed and switched off to prevent use. All these measures are in line with the Federal and State Governments restrictions on people gathering in one area which is now no more than 2 person. Whilst these restrictive measures will undoubtedly have an impact on everyone in the community, your support is greatly appreciated in these difficult times. Just finishing I hope you all remain safe and healthy, check in on your love ones from time to time and support those who need it in what could be a while to come yet. Keith

06.01.2022 - . In light of the pandemic, Council has delivered on its commitment to rates relief b...y going over and above a rates freeze to ensure City charges will be the same or less than last years amount. In a suite of measures to support ratepayers, the City has introduced new flexible payment options and removed interest and instalment fees for rates this financial year. Mayor Mark Irwin said the past six months had presented unforeseen and severe impacts to the community and the City of Stirlings focus was to balance service delivery with responsible use of ratepayer funds. Our immediate response was to overhaul our services before going back to the drawing board with our budgets so we could deliver support where its needed most through our $43.7 million Economic Stimulus and Community Recovery Package, he said. As well as tailored measures to support the community through the recovery phase, Council will be reviewing services and budgets in October to allow us continue to support the community. Were also continuing our debt free policy, with no provision to borrow funds in 2020/21. A key component of the Annual Budget, the package will alleviate pressure on the local economy through: $4.9 million for ratepayer relief $7 million for business and activation $2.9 million community support $28.9 million capital investment Some key highlights in the Citys capital investment package for 2020/21 include: Accelerated Recycling Centre Balcatta redevelopment Major refurbishment of Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre Upgrade to Hamersley Public Golf Course Upgrades to parks, sporting facilities and cycle ways. Construction will also begin on the Stephenson Avenue Extension, which is jointly funded by the Australian ($65 million) and the State ($60 million) Governments. The City will also invest in $23.4 million for road networks (including upgrades, street landscaping, footpaths, rights of way upgrades and cycle ways) and $7.8 million for reserve development, recreation and sporting facilities, revegetation, and irrigation replacement.
