25.01.2022 As the storm began to rain down on me as I took my last image, I only now realise that it was my last recreational flight due to updated COVID-19 regulations. Flying a drone is exercise for the brain (laws and safety), but even greater freedom for the spirit. In the past, whenever I have felt down or sad, flying a drone has always lifted my spirits in ways I can't explain. Technology, creativity, freedom? Depending on how we act as a nation will determine when we get that bac...k I guess. For now, let's recharge, support each other in our own ways, and most importantly be with loved ones if we can. Mum (Marg) miss you every day I can't see you. If you own a farm locally and genuinely would love to buy a custom print featuring your farm with storms, PM me.
24.01.2022 Couldn't help it ...here's a teaser from my recent astro shoot in the backyard with a windmill. You can check out the full vlog here. > https://youtu.be/BClJReL8p-8
24.01.2022 Sometimes using a portrait lens like the 50mm for astro means you get way more detail and colour. You can totally do this! 5dmiii, 50mm @ f2 for 20seconds, single exposure. NOTE: If you want to do this at home and have similar gear, use a shutter speed of 10sec for sharper stars! Lol I had to pick a shot that I got lazy on.
23.01.2022 Lest we forget I wanted to create a unique image, so used hubby's ANZAC 'Silent Fallen' statues that he bought from The Shrine of Remembrance years ago to try and create a strong foreground with the milkyway rising behind. This statue is called 'Light Horseman.' Canon 5dmiii & samyang 14mm:: f2.8, 20sec @ ISO4000, 3x images edited in LR & PS.... #anzacathome #ANZACSpirit
23.01.2022 The Emu in the Sky, the celestial Emu, the Dark Emu, the Emu (mate) - loved by astrophotographers, including me!! Did a bit of googling on the history of the name and found out that it's actually a 'well-known Aboriginal astronomical constellation that’s outlined by dark areas of the night sky, not the stars'. Can you see its head and body rising?
23.01.2022 Meet Sobrane Simcock, the Broome artist who transformed the Tungamah Silos into gorgeous local birdlife. I chatted with Sobrane about how she created her colourful design and what it took to bring it to life. Thank you so much for sharing your world and art with us - it has been truly incredible to capture your journey. Special thanks to the Cooper family and visual contributors Anne Preston and Texs Troopy Travels. GrainCorp - St James and Devenish, Winton Wetlands, Gooramba...t Silo Art. 22.01.2022 Backyard halo. When the moon is 100% and you don't have a decent telephoto lens, this is gunna do. I much prefer the Milky Way and star trails but covid restrictions and son are keeping me home at night now. Could I have been more creative in the backyard and pushed my limits? Absolutely. Could I be arsed? No, not really, not feeling it lately. But soon. Promise. I have canola to photograph.
21.01.2022 Old homestead underneath the night sky. I captured this composite image when I visited a local farm for a nightscape photography session last year. Even though I was spoilt by choices - the spooky pine forest and many old farm relics - this old homestead captured my attention the most!... EXIF: 5DMiii, samyang 14mm. ISO3200, f2.8, 20sec. 17 images captured, not sure how many I actually used!
21.01.2022 From behind, you can see just how gutted these planes are...wings partially removed, gaping holes. Kinda sad.
21.01.2022 A kind friend encouraged me to re-edit these photos for a B&W national competition, but fear of the unknown stopped me from entering. My bad, because I love these. In many ways, embracing the stronger contrast of dark and light tones emphasises so much more - her muscles, face, gear - and how happy she was to just lift it one more time. Thanks so much to Kim from Fitness 3636 for being my amazing model back in February, and for your support ever since.
20.01.2022 Captured this star trail on the edge of town recently. The water surface was perfectly still and captured a beautiful reflection of the night sky.
20.01.2022 'Little but sooooo loud!' my son describes them. Our local flying fox population in Numurkah create chaos as they leave their roost in search of food. Hopefully you can see them! 610 images, captured over a 15 minute period. For a 1st attempt, I'm happy with how it came out, but have lots of technical ideas on how to better capture these beautiful mammals through timelapse photography.
20.01.2022 Many thanks to @Kerryn Buckley for sharing this quick shot whilst out exploring Dookie on the weekend. Got pretty windy but my P4P handled it with ease.
20.01.2022 Abandoned planes under the Milky way. I visited this site way back in June on a bright moonlit night for a quick recce shoot with my son. The goal was to return on my own weeks later (new moon = darker sky) and take epic photos, timelapses and record a new vlog! But with restrictions, weather and weeks passing by, I sadly missed my chance to re-shoot with the Milky Way in the same alignment.... So here I am, left with images from our recce shoot (that I never edited) and a renewed desire to bring them to life. Many thanks to @hangingpixels_photo_art for asking me for local advice about this stunning location that I didn't know existed. You'll need to visit bloke.
20.01.2022 When you're trying to record a new VLOG and your neighbours kill your dreams!!
19.01.2022 Hi Everyone! I'm so crazy excited to share my first ever VLOG with you!! I had this idea to share how I captured my images - from the initial idea, setup, composition, settings used - everything! So when I did my recent ANZAC inspired photoshoot a few weeks ago, it was absolutely the perfect time to try!!... I had this idea of starting a youtube channel ages ago, but felt like I was out of my depth - I mean there a lot of amazing photographers out there who do this? But I'm so lucky to have you all here who keep asking me how I do what I do, so maybe...I might inspire someone? Now let me just say that this is THE most intimidating thing I have ever done. But you know what, the current climate has made me appreciate life so much more and to start doing the type of projects that I've always wanted to do. From a studio to a photographer, now I am quietly conquering my fear of being on camera!! Much love all.
19.01.2022 Enjoy the long weekend everyone!!
19.01.2022 Time to follow my own path.
19.01.2022 Anyone else feeling exhausted lately? Ok, which do you prefer, black and white or colour?
19.01.2022 Can't get more iconic than a windmill in the night sky. I am currently editing a new vlog about timelapses and thought it looked so cool! All of these lines that you can see rotating upwards, are actually the stars as the Earth rotates over a 4hr period. . #milkywaychasers #startrail #astro #astrophotography #windmill #milkyway #milkyway_nightscapes
18.01.2022 Oh wow what a glorious sunset tonight Anyone get pics too?
18.01.2022 The 'Namaka' tree . After weeks of rain, clouds and full moon, man I was itching to get out with the camera! Had an astro catchup this week with my local camera club where we spent time at this epic tree in my home town. It'll be famous one day hahaha. . Canon 5dmiii, 14mm, ISO5000, 20sec, f2.8... . #milkyway #astro #longexposure #nightshooters #astrophotography #namakatree See more
15.01.2022 Cake, glorious carrot cake Was a pleasure to photograph this gorgeous cake for an upcoming open garden event.
15.01.2022 Let the spirit of ANZAC live. This year will be different in how we remember them, but the meaning and memories we hold, remain the same. See you on the driveway at 6am. ... Lest we forget #anzacathome #ANZACSpirit
15.01.2022 So lucky to live in country Victoria and have darkish skies (even from my backyard in town). Captured this a couple nights ago when I was trying to spot Elon Musk's 'Starlink' satellite train in the sky. Didn't quite get the shot I wanted of starlink but got this beauty. 226 images @ f2.8, 15 sec, ISO3200.
14.01.2022 And a before & after from image posted before . . . click for full size! 1) Layer the three original images (top) in Photoshop and mask together my favourite parts. 2) Clean up the edges and also some subtle cloning/re-positioning to create more balance. 3) Use adjustment layers to alter the brown waters into gorgeous coast blue/green tones. I also adjusted the exposure on the bridge to give it a lovely contrast and definition!
13.01.2022 We spent a wonderful day exploring locations around Euroa and Nagambie with my local camera club. Here's a few of my favourite images captured on the day. . Gooram Falls Tahbilk Winery Kirwans Bridge
13.01.2022 I love the rolling hills of Dookie and the different colours it wears. I've photographed this tree over many seasons and canola is always my fav.
12.01.2022 Here's to you dad. You may live amongst the stars now, but you used to enjoy a beer in your time. . Wishing all the dads a happy father's day today. Sharing is caring.
11.01.2022 I've always been a 'behind the scene' chic. In the recording studio, behind the camera, always encouraging others or as my hubby says, 'telling people what to do'. It's pretty exciting when suddenly the momentum shifts and you embark on new personal projects that you never thought were possible.
11.01.2022 I had to share another from this weekend's camera club trip, so much fun! Kirwans Bridge DJI Phantom 4 Pro. Edited in Lightroom & Photoshop. Inspired by the coastal waters of mid-coast NSW.
09.01.2022 I love the night sky, especially if I can do it in the backyard! Been busy printing my personalised nightscapes for clients and it's inspiring me to get back out there ASAP! Hmmm, father's day pressie anyone?
09.01.2022 Canola lines. One of the benefits of drone photography is the perspective you get from flying above. And how good your tractor's GPS is :)
08.01.2022 One of two images I created from a recent astro session. Love the challenge of creating epic timelapses and aussie scenes in my own backyard. Of course I had problems along the way. If you have 5min spare, here's the link to the video I produced of the night - bit of fun, backstory and explains the how/why. > https://youtu.be/BClJReL8p-8
08.01.2022 We love visiting the Numurkah Community House & Garden and exploring the gardens. With cameras in our hands, today we played photographers amongst the sunflowers, veggies and flowers.
07.01.2022 So who else is guilty of spoiling their pets lately? Love watching these two grow up together and being able to capture moments like this.
07.01.2022 Huge panorama of the entire storm front that hit North East Victoria sunday arvo. I do love crop circles if you haven't noticed already. P4P, 12-image multi-row panorama, edited in LR and PS. Captured by Kelli Foulstone Photographer for Aerial Vision Sound Victorian Storm Chasers Higgins Storm Chasing
07.01.2022 Once upon a time, this aircraft had a body, wings and engine. Now just the cockpit remains, with windowless view of the stars. . . Taken on private property.
06.01.2022 Northern Territory Medical Service aircraft. . Sitting quietly in a paddock, I can only think of the many lives it has helped save whilst in service.
06.01.2022 'So many Wils!' Love the honesty from my lil fella. We have been so busy playing lots of fun games and trying to find the positives in everything we do here at home. These series of 3 images were captured during a highly competitive game of 'hide & seek.'
04.01.2022 I'd take a helicopter over a plane any day...I do wonder what this heli was used for - emergency rescue, ambulance, transport? Taken on private property.
03.01.2022 Thank goodness for pinterest!
03.01.2022 Flowers are like friends; They bring colour to your world. Unknown
01.01.2022 Gotta love finding old beasts like this on country farms. This was on a private property that was simply amazing to visit, but damn spooky with all the super evil sheep lol. Can't wait to get back out soon.
01.01.2022 When a car passes by, I usually let a few . But when I create a timelapse, totally different! I love how it captures our busyness against the night sky.
