24.01.2022 What working from home looks like - Kelly Hodges, Dietitian

24.01.2022 Thought we would be kind and post this AFTER a Saturday night Is alcohol low carb? What alcohol options are better? Is beer low carb?

23.01.2022 Good wonderful morning everyone, If you are after a chat about your nutrition this week, you can have a phone / video chat with Emma sometime on Tuesday - Thursday, or with Kelly on Thursday afternoon. As everyone is getting back into the swing of their routines, we are getting quite busy again, so best to book in advance if possible. ... Just FYI, Kelly has shuffled work hours around to allow more time to be with her toddler. She is now available for longer days on Tuesdays and Thursdays to chat nutrition! Have a beautiful week and see you in clinic (or on video) soon! P: 0488 903 659 E: [email protected] W: www.coastaldietetics.com.au

21.01.2022 Hey team, We are in the works of putting together a Low Carb Toolkit, which is essentially a kit of everything you need to begin your low carb journey. Meal plans, recipes, trackers, food swaps... ... What are we missing? What else do you want to be included? Thanks for your help! Kelly Hodges

21.01.2022 Kelly will be available for another 3 weeks until Thursday 3rd Dec, and return Tuesday 12th Jan.

19.01.2022 As promised Hope someone in here finds this information useful

17.01.2022 Want to see what a Continuous Glucose Meter (CGM) looks like? Why would someone use it in the first place? How does it work? I was actually quiet sad to take it off this afternoon. I have so enjoyed all these experiments and it has opened my eyes SO MUCH to the effects of various foods. I'm going to do a video on my findings so be sure to check that out for a greater understanding of all those graphs I've been posting. ... And like I say in the video; I am no expert in CGMs but if you need a hand or have any questions, I'm definitely more than happy to help you out as best I can. https://youtu.be/I6OwIV4YR5U

14.01.2022 Sustainability is key! Whats better? A change you can maintain for 2 weeks, or a change you can maintain for the rest of your life?

13.01.2022 Amen!! What small goal can you achieve this week?

08.01.2022 Hey team, For those who I haven’t had the chance of meeting yet, I’m Kelly Hodges, your low carbohydrate friendly dietitian Quick video so you can pop a face to the name!

08.01.2022 Hi everyone, My name is Kelly Hodges and I want to quickly introduce myself. I founded Coastal Dietetics back in 2018 when I returned home from living overseas with my now husband, Christian. I am a Mum to the most wonderful little boy Charles. He will be 2 in December, and brings me an incredible amount of happiness. In my spare time I love to cook, climb mountains, be at the beach and given we have just moved to a larger block of land will now be trying my hand at some ga...rdening! As a Dietitian I focus on a real food approach, and as it turns out, real food tends to be lower in carbohydrates hence I am also classed as a 'low carb dietitian'. My main areas of interest include weight management, Diabetes (currently studying to be a Diabetes Educator) and food intolerances). I practice what I preach and nourish myself and my family in the exact way I advocate. I consult face to face Tuesdays fortnightly, and online every other Tuesday and Thursdays. My face to face times are booked well in advance so I am considering opening another day. I absolutely love my work and am so happy I chose to go into nutrition. So if you have any nutrition needs, I'd love to help you out. Please feel free to get in touch with our clinic for an appointment or a chat to see if I can help you. I look forward to meeting you! 07.01.2022 What your best example of this? There are too many to list from the world of nutrition!

06.01.2022 The closed eye smile you get when you submit your first assignment of the trimester THREE DAYS EARLY!! Studying to be a Diabetes Educator has been the most amazing experience. I am learning so much everyday and am so blessed as I get to put my skills into practice immediately. 6 weeks and 3 assignments to go ... - Kelly Hodges, Accredited Practicing Dietitian

05.01.2022 This video is for anyone wanting to take that first step towards a lower carbohydrate approach Preparing your body is absolute key to making the transition easily. - Kelly Hodges, Dietitian

04.01.2022 Thank you to all our clients who allow us to be part of their health journey

04.01.2022 How’s this for an office!? Have you called us recently? Meet Jeanne, the friendly voice of Coastal Dietetics! Jeanne really has the best of both worlds as she works remotely from wherever she currently is in Australia. She sent us this picture this morning of her work station in Bowen (the place with the big mango )! What a life! What a backdrop for an office! ... If you’re a fellow caravan or travel enthusiast, you can definitely weave that into your next call to us 0488903659 [email protected] www.coastaldietetics.com.au

03.01.2022 Thursday 2 weeks ago I was unwell (reaction to caffeine). Thursday last week Charles had a tummy bug. Tomorrow our daycare lady (Julie) is unwell and hopes to be good for Thursday So across 3 weeks I have only been able to work 1 day ... I appreciate your patience while waiting for responses to emails, waiting lists for a face to face consult and most of all for those who have had to reschedule (some twice!). As a mum who runs a business, consults, studies and does extra chores on 2 allocated days each week, I suddenly have even more respect for Mums who juggle the work / life / home balance. It’s definitely a juggle that keeps you on your toes, but is oh so worth it. Hope to be back to it Thursday. Thanks for your understanding. Kelly Hodges Dietitian

02.01.2022 Not sure who needs to hear this today

01.01.2022 What wonderful news to start your Monday with! Reducing BGLs by 1-2mmol may not sound like very much, but in the world of diabetes it is a HUGE accomplishment and needs to be celebrated! Not only did Fran reduce her BGLs from 5-8mmol down to 4-6mmol, she is also able to maintain them in a tighter range which means reduced risk of complications. And she lost a few stubborn kilograms too which she was happy with. ... Happy Monday everyone!
