23.01.2022 My local beach at Umina, where I start or end most days, it’s a beautiful spot. Very tranquil. I love to come here for walks, or simply sit and enjoy the view. The view is out to Palm Beach. Oil on board. What do you do to increase the calm in your life? https://bluethumb.com.au/kelly_m_hacke//view-to-palm-beach

23.01.2022 I ran several sessions of an art class for 7 homeschooling children. Photos of a couple of participants and one girl (Tara) who who particularly pleased (rightfully!) with her efforts. Mastercopy class.

20.01.2022 Still Life with Pomegranates (30.5x30.5). Another Still Life listed with Bluethumb (or available direct). Been a bit quiet on posting as I’ve been busy working on an artwork for a friend (will post if I get their permission once it’s gifted!). Then- I will be busy practising portraits, I’m hoping to move beyond fruit .

20.01.2022 Here’s another what’s on my easel post. Showing how I begin every painting. It’s a very loose positioning of the subject, making sure I like the composition and that it all fits on the canvas. Always in a midtone- it helps to compare the colour and value more than a blank white canvas. You can see where I’ve taken out the lightest areas- otherwise the colour underneath can eventually come through.

19.01.2022 Looking forward to exhibiting and working a couple of shifts here. Feel free to visit if you’re in the area. https://fb.me/e/cWx3l1gcL

15.01.2022 https://bluethumb.com.au/kelly_m_hackett/Artwork/quiet-times Finally, Quiet Times is dry, varnished, and ready to hang. Available through BlueThumb or direct from me for $580.00 (packaging and shipping included within Australia). This was fun- and a huge learning curve (though everything is a learning curve at the moment!). The tablecloth and tea pot were hard!

12.01.2022 My beautiful friend Kim Worth and hubby Evan on their wedding day. Kim’s dad died when she was only 18- so the gentleman behind her giving her a hug is her father, taken from an older photo. you Kim x

11.01.2022 My latest artwork- on its way to it’s new home once dry. I loved this one- found it really relaxing. Definitely keen to try another flower- what to paint? What’s your favourite flower?

10.01.2022 Yay! My artwork was selected as a staff favourite- it gets placed into a selective folder and is one of the more regularly viewed folders on Bluethumb. Very exciting for me as a fairly new artist.

05.01.2022 Oooh- it’s been a long time since I’ve posted, and I haven’t done much of my own paintings lately. The joys of juggling life. Still homeschooling and I’ve recently started working part-time too, teaching art for a mental health and disability provider (and I’m loving it!). Here’s my most recent- needing to dry (but at this stage largely done). For sale.

04.01.2022 Yay- I’m pleased that Still Life with Lemons sold within hours of being posted on the Bluethumb site (maybe I need to raise my prices?! ). I must be more superstitious then I want to admit, as I didn’t want to mention the sale until after the owner had received it and the returns period ended. I’ve now finished Quiet Times too, so I’ll post that here soon. It won’t be going on Bluethumb yet as it needs drying time...

01.01.2022 I was stoked to receive a Highly Commended award for Quiet Times at the Women In Art awards. Over 130 artworks submitted and it was my second competition. I was stunned- particularly as Realism in art doesn’t seem to be popular at the moment (looking at other awards- even the Archibald!). I’m curious as to what people prefer- Realism or Abstract? It’s obvious where my heart lies. What would most people put on their walls?? Enlighten me (please!!).

01.01.2022 Selling an artwork always makes me happy dance! (Seriously). There are other things- like time with my kids and hubby, and this week with my parents who have just moved across from NZ. But, selling my art feels like a validation of me though somehow. All the hundreds of hours practice feels like it’s worth something not just to me but to someone else too. It’s really special A small study of Umina Beach 10x15cm. Sold.
