25.01.2022 When you are true to yourself and make heartfelt decisions you don’t need permission from anyone. What have you been seeking permission for ? Is now the time to just do it ?

20.01.2022 If 2020 has taught us anything, it has been to focus on what is important and to let go of the things that aren’t. The uncertainty of daily life forced us to focus on the things we can control and to let everything else play itself out. In some cases just making it through the day was as much as we could handle. Being in survival mode leaves us little time or brain power for anything other than the absolute necessities. Whilst it can be hard, it can really help us wor...k out what really matters to us. I can certainly relate to moving on from things that I thought I would always be affected by in some way or another. What things has 2020 allowed you to move on from ?

19.01.2022 No matter what side of the political divide you sit on, I think we can all agree that is incredible to see a woman, and particularly a woman of colour, being elected as the Vice President of the United States. We have been telling our girls and young women for so long that they can do and be anything that they want to do or be. But it hasn’t been that easy to show them women in the roles and positions that we keep telling them they can fill. It’s well overdue for a ...woman to be in a position like this on the world stage because it is impossible for a man to fully understand the unique experiences of a woman. (And vice versa) We need women in prominent positions of power to advocate for women in the way only a woman can. We are 50% of the population and we are grossly underrepresented in the places, and by the people, whose decisions affect our day to day lives. Here’s hoping that we look back on this moment of time as the first of many where we celebrate women breaking the glass ceiling and that keep showing our girls and women of all ages what women are really capable of.

12.01.2022 Often someone’s behaviour towards you has more to do with their own internal struggles than it ever did with you.

06.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day. Be the Queen you were born to be

01.01.2022 It can be really hard to express hurt and pain in a healthy and safe way. It can be especially hard if you didn’t have healthy conflict modeled to us as a child. There’s lots of reason why we pretend we are ok when we’re clearly not. Sometimes it simply feels like the easiest option when we are already feeling fragile. For me now, I almost always express myself when I am hurt. I try to do it as maturely as possible (with varying degrees of success ) . ... And the reason I do it is because we owe it to ourselves and the people in our lives to give them a chance to explain themselves and for all involved to learn and grow from the experience. Maybe they had no idea that you were hurt. Maybe they deserve a chance to explain where they were coming from or maybe you will see that person isn’t who you thought they were. Regardless of the outcome, expressing yourself is the first step towards healing.
