22.01.2022 As the financial year draws to a close, I want to send out a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you. I love the community I work in. I appreciate you supporting my small business, and I appreciate the warm welcomes and gestures from each and every one of you. From the chats about kids, to the freshly picked lemons and apricots, to the waiting open door when Im coming to you through a storm outside, to the smiles and chats as we cross paths at the supermarket. I am really looking forward to the next year working with you all. Again, thank you so much.
22.01.2022 When you do your stationery order online and dont read the measurements correctly....

20.01.2022 Congratulations to my sidekick Bree for commencing her Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping. This will allow Bree to assist me with, well, Accounting and Bookkeeping in the future! Bree will also continue in her administration role with me whilst studying.

19.01.2022 If in doubt, a quick call or email to me to check is always beneficial!
18.01.2022 From the team at Kelly Clifford Accounting, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. We will be taking a break next week, and resume as normal from Thursday the 4th January. I will be contactable for urgent matters during this time, but may be slow to respond. We look forward to continuing to work with all of you in the coming year.
18.01.2022 Always stay vigilant, and if something doesnt seem quite right, always check with a professional before opening any links or providing any personal information. I had a client call me last week to check on a phone call she had received threatening legal action for an unpaid tax debt. Needless to say, there was no unpaid tax debt and the call was a scam. A two minute phone call to me was able to confirm that, and no personal information was given by her.
17.01.2022 Today I took a me day. They are few and far between, but seeing as its end of financial year, I thought it fitting. I took the opportunity to relax and de-stress. Its important to take care of ourselves, both in body and mind so that we can take care of everything else that we have to. What have you done for YOU lately? Id love to hear.
17.01.2022 In the past couple of weeks I have sent out two emails to all clients regarding the government stimulus and assistance available due to COVID-19. My process for assigning client email addresses to these emails was by no means perfect due to the high volume being sent, so if you didnt receive them and would like to, please let me know. Alternatively, if you received them twice, sorry!! After many late nights trawling through over 350 pages of new legislation and trying to summarise the key information in a legible way, I am clocking off now until Monday. Have a great Easter everyone. Stay home and stay safe!

17.01.2022 Have you heard about the changes to payroll? The introduction of Single Touch Payroll, and the deductibility of wages if PAYG requirements are not met, are changing from 1 July 2019. See my new blog post for more information!
16.01.2022 JobKeeper 2.0 rules have just been released. There are 40 pages of updated rules and tests for me to read through, so please bear with me. I will get the relevant information out as soon as possible, and start booking in reviews to assess eligibility for payments beyond September for those of you currently receiving JobKeeper payments.
15.01.2022 A great free event hosted by Business Hub at Queenscliff harbour. 3 different speakers covering topics that small business owners may find useful. Grab your free ticket if you think youd find it useful.
15.01.2022 My phone reception has been minimal at best over the past couple of days. Please leave a message with your number and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Please be patient, the network upgrades are expected to last another week or so. Texts seem to be mostly getting through, so feel free to text or email instead of call if you cant get on to me!

13.01.2022 Tax time is creeping up! Im an accountant based in Ocean Grove with 12 years experience. Weekend and after hours appointments are available, and I come to you! Now taking appointments for 2017-2018 Tax returns.
13.01.2022 As we become more reliant on sites like MyGov, scammers become more sophisticated. If something doesnt seem right, always double check before clicking any links or entering any personal details.
12.01.2022 We will be taking a short break from Wednesday the 28th February. We return to the office on Monday the 12th March. During this time I will not be contactable by phone, but if you have an urgent enquiry, please email me, as I will be checking emails periodically. I have one appointment remaining before I leave, at 3.30pm on Monday the 26th. I have several available when I return however, so please contact me if youd like to book in.
11.01.2022 If youd like to know more about this benefit, I have written a blog post about it on my website. www.kcliffordaccounting.com.au
11.01.2022 Have you acquired employee shares? Did you elect to pay tax on the discount upfront? If so - my latest blog post is a must read! TLDR version - The ATO will default to taxing you at the deferred taxing point, meaning you could end up paying tax twice on the original discount amount if youre not vigilant.
11.01.2022 This time of year I normally do a happy new financial year post. I thought this was more appropriate this year! Due to the rise in COVID cases and increasing restrictions, I am working a little differently this year. While I am still taking bookings, I will be working exclusively from home and meetings will be via Zoom or phone. I am setting up a secure parcel drop box at my house for you to drop documents into if you cant send them electronically. ... I feel due to the nature of how I operate, and the number of home visits I normally do at this time of year, that its safer for both my clients and my family to do all work in this contactless, socially distanced way for the time being. But of course, as always, feel free to contact me at any time with queries! And... happy new financial year! May it be a healthy and successful one.
10.01.2022 Pupil free days are for trainees and no pants. If you have a Zoom with me today, please be assured that I do have pants on.
10.01.2022 31 October is fast approaching, and it is spooky for more than one reason! If you lodge your own tax return, it is due by this date. If you plan on lodging through a tax agent, you need to be added to their lodgement list by 31 October to receive the due date extension of 15 May. If you plan on lodging through me this year for the first time, please contact me prior to 31 October (even if you dont have all your tax information together yet) to be added to my lodgement list and receive the due date extension.
10.01.2022 Happy mothers day to all the mums out there. Not only those that hold their babies in their arms, but also those that hold them in their heart My daughter doesnt quite get the concept of accounting yet, clearly.
09.01.2022 Happy New Year! And introducing Bree.

08.01.2022 The Fair Work Commission has increased the national minimum wage and award rates by 3.5%. The increase takes effect from the first pay period starting on or after 1 July 2018. Make sure to check your rates and increase them accordingly if required. If youre not sure how to check if you comply with the minimum wage feel free to contact me.
07.01.2022 Did you know, I dont work Tuesdays and Wednesdays? Thats because on those days Im busy being mum to my 4 and 2 year olds. If youve ever knocked on my door to drop off documents on those days before 9.30am you would have been greeted by me in my dressing gown, toddler in her undies and baby in his sleeping bag (he loves a sleep in ). Dont get me wrong, I love seeing all my clients at any time, but this sight may frighten some of you . This has only happened 2 or 3 time...s, but happened this morning, and this was the sight that greeted my clients. P.S. dont let that "butter wouldnt melt in my mouth" look on my daughters face fool you!
06.01.2022 The Geelong Small Business Festival is on next month. There are over 40 events and workshops which are all either low cost or free. Check out the calendar here https://gsbf.com.au/festival-calendar/ , and make use of the resources put together by Eco Dev Geelong. #GSBF2019
05.01.2022 Happy New Year! May it be a happy, healthy and successful one for all of you. There will be a change to my hours this year, as my oldest child starts school. As of February, my hours will be: Monday - 9am to 5pm... Tuesday - 9am to 3pm Wednesday - closed Thursday - 9am to 3pm Friday - 9am to 5pm Limited weekend and evening appointments will remain available. I look forward to catching up with all of you in the coming year.
04.01.2022 Just sent Bree home with the best bonus an employee could ask for... 2 rolls of toilet paper. Employer of the year?
04.01.2022 Id like to share a personal story, extremely close to my heart. My sister Emily and I are doing a 6km walk in the Bendigo Great Strides event to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Community care, who do a great job providing support services to people with, and families of people with Cystic Fibrosis. If you could spare a couple of (tax deductible ) dollars, please donate. My sister Emily gave birth to an amazing little girl, Emma, 18 months ago, who unfortunately was diagn...osed with CF not long after being born. She was airlifted to the RCH at one day old for emergency surgery for a bowel blockage, which was the first sign of this horrible disorder. Four months later they got to take her home, but unfortunately CF will be with her for the rest of her life. There is currently no cure. It is the most common life threatening genetic disorder in Australia. Research into CF and support for families and those affected is so important, and to be honest, may just save the life of my beautiful little niece one day. CF affects so many people - Im sure most of you know of someone who has this genetic disorder. You may not know the ins and outs of what it does, and I am more than happy to speak with you about it if you wish to know more. In short, it ultimately affects the lungs, and drastically reduces the life expectancy for those with the disorder. The more awareness there is around CF, the more focus can be put into finding a cure. Please feel free to share with friends and family.
03.01.2022 Stay vigilant! Especially at this time of year.
02.01.2022 Another scam. This one has been around for a couple of years, but seems to be making a comeback. Voice validation is becoming more widespread, used by banks, the ATO and many more institutions. These scammers begin the call with asking "can you hear me?. When you answer with "yes", it is recorded and used to access your bank accounts, authorise transactions and for identity theft. If you think youve been the victim to this, let your bank know, and monitor your accounts closely. Contact ID CARE for advice.
