25.01.2022 Client Testimonials make me so happy, not just as a chance to celebrate their success and newfound sleep, but also as a chance to show other mums that change can be achieved for them too!! When Amy reached out to me, her daughter had NEVER slept in her own cot at 14 months old. Together we gently worked through the challenges and in two weeks we saw wonderful changes in sleep patterns and transition to full-time cot sleeping which was a big relief for mum given how mobile toddlers become.! Thank you for choosing to work with me Amy and sharing your kind words

25.01.2022 A newborn can go from tired to over-tired in an incredibly short time! Recognising, when your baby is tired, is an essential (and often tricky) skill As soon as you start to notice these signs, you should start their Wind Down Ritual Becoming drowsy... Decreased activity Slower movements Weaker sucking Quieter and calmer mood Disinterest in environment Wandering eyes Drooping eyelids Remember, the key is the window between a tired baby and an overtired baby! Id love for you to save this post as a reminder for your babys tired signs

23.01.2022 Did your little one come before, after or on their due date? A little fun fact, did you know that only 3-5% of babies are born on their actual due date! Remember, its important to have realistic sleep expectations based on your babys adjusted age if they were born premature (prior to 37 weeks). If youre little one was born between 37-40 weeks, they should have a little grace period for their sleep expectations too ... Tell me, when did your little one arrive?
23.01.2022 My love for comforters is real! A comforter can be introduced from birth for familiarity, but should not be left unsupervised in the cot with your little one until 7+ months of age in line with Red Nose Guidelines. A comforter can provide psychological comfort, as they transition into new spaces such as childcare or with other family members and can become a wonderful sleep association.... The comforter can be anything your little one takes a liking to, but it is important to follow Red Nose Guidelines ensuring it is no larger than 30cm x 30cm and is breathable. My favourite comforter that I’ve used with my own girls is @kippins_ Kippins are 100% pure organic cotton, lightweight, breathable, and fuzz free (not to mention SO cute!) Swipe to see my checklist when choosing your little one's comforter Top tip! if your little one takes a liking to a particular comforter, it’s a great idea to buy a second as a backup Searching at bedtime for the lost comforter at daycare isn’t much fun! 23.01.2022 Time is ticking as we head towards the end of daylight savings. And the end of daylight savings means an hour’s time difference in our little one’s sleep routine. It’s the biannual calendar event that leaves parents exchanging knowing glances and nodding in understanding as little one’s fuss or throw tantrums in those first days of adjustment. ... It’s safe to say transitioning back to non-daylight savings time can be just as tough on our little ones as it is on our patience; but I’m happy to say there are ways to prepare so that everyone can experience a smoother time change. If you’re ready to make the daylight savings switch less challenging and more chilled, the first step is to not panic because I’m cheering you on and the second step is to click the link in bio for the full blog. Help a fellow Mumma out. Tag a friend who’s about to navigate daylight savings too. Read the blog below https://kellymartinsleepconsultant.com.au/tips-to-help-you/
23.01.2022 Weve all had these days Remember Mummas, babies dont come with a manual. We are all learning as we go! Tag a Mum who is doing an amazing job
23.01.2022 It is impossible to pour from an empty cup, as Mums how often do we put ourselves to the bottom of the list. Often a simple 5 minutes to yourself is enough to refresh and refuel your mind! An early morning cup of tea before the day begins ... An afternoon walk in the sunshine Evening meditation before bed Tag a friend who needs a reminder to take some just for them
22.01.2022 Look at it from your baby's perspective - playtime happens in the lounge room, outside is for exploring, bath time is great for splashing, but my room is for sleep = boring and next level FOMO! You can create a positive experience for your little one in their bedroom, other than just sleep time! Swipe to see my top tips on how to turn your little ones bedroom into a loving space ... Ensure you go into the room frequently throughout the day. During awake time take a few toys in there. Play in front of the mirror - no baby cutter that YOUR baby! Have a little dance party in the room. Keep the cot reserved just for sleep times Show your little one that their room isn't always just for sleep and that it is a great safe place during the day too! Have you done this? I’d love to hear how it went?
22.01.2022 Does your little one have a special comforter? A special comforter can provide your little one with a psychological comfort to assist in easing separation anxiety and help them transition to new spaces such as childcare! It can be anything your little one takes a liking to, a small blanket, a soft toy or even a soft piece of your clothing!... My personal favourite used by my youngest girl is Banksi, Kippins. It goes everywhere with us and we definitely have spares! So tell me, what was the comforter your little one has attached to? See more
21.01.2022 One of the first things Im so fast to recommend to any expecting Mumma is a baby carrier! Think free hands to eat that biscuit or hold a drink without juggling, God knows how many crumbs have been dropped on my girls heads over the years. I wore all three of my girls (even my eldest would happily still hop on my back if she could now!)... Wearing your baby in a wrap or baby-carrier helps mimic the feeling and movement of being in the womb. Just what the fourth trimester calls for Let me know, did you babywear your little one too? : @heartilyart
21.01.2022 Just how much sleep does your little one need from Birth - 4 Years? You’ll want to SAVE THIS POST Remember, all babies are different and these times can vary by 15-30minutes. As long as your little one is happy and achieving consolidated sleep, it is likely that they are getting enough sleep for them! Newborn sleep is disorganised and they may snooze in short spurts of 20minutes up to 2-3 hours during the day and sleep can also be later and in unpredictable pockets! This is... normal (although a little exhausting!) As your baby grows, the number of naps your little one is having each day becomes more consistent. Before reaching around 7-9 months of age where they start to transition down their naps. Remember to save this post as a guide to your little one’s sleep!
20.01.2022 How old was your little one when you transitioned into a big bed? We moved my eldest into her big bed at 2.3 years, we didnt know about impulse control and she is a very reserved child so never got out of bed. Our second on the other hand is cheeky and a rule bender. Wnew we needed to wait as long as possible to assist with her impulse control. ... She was 3 years old when she graduated to a big bed. We moved her 3 months AFTER the arrival of our third baby girl so that she had had plenty of time to adjust to the new family dynamics. Some of my favourite steps that can make this transition easier for your toddler are: Tell them how proud you are. Moving into a bed is an exciting step towards being a big kid! Tell your toddler all about the plans to set up the new bed include them in this update Take your toddler shopping to choose the bed or bedding. Throw a big-bed party. How old was your little one when you made the transition? See more
20.01.2022 Sometimes, Mumma, this is all you need to do! Some days are harder than others, but this too shall pass. Enjoy those cuddles when you both need them most. Save this post for when you need the reminder ... : @growupbrite See more

I consider a range of factors including their temperament, nap structure, milk and solids intake and sleeping environment. As well as your sleep expectations and preferred parenting style. 17.01.2022 Is your family holidaying this festive season? My biggest tip when you are away from your normal sleep routine is pay close attention to your babies awake times. 15.01.2022 Seriously, is there anything better than holding your nose to your newborn babys head and breathing in deep its heavenly! But lets face it, having a newborn baby at home can also be a little overwhelming especially in the first six to twelve weeks! To help make the fourth trimester as calm and settled as possible, Id love to share some quick and easy ways to calm your newborn!... Swaddling! Swaddling provides a newborn with the feeling of being back in the womb, where it was warm, safe and snug Side or stomach. Hold your little one in your arms on their side or stomach. This helps turn on their calming reflex Shushing. Recreating the sound of inside their cosy womb! Send me a message and Ill send you a link to my blog post on 5 Easy Ways to Calm your Newborn, the 5 Ss will help you calm and soothe your beautiful new babe. : @larissaemily
15.01.2022 My baby is only napping for 30mins - what can I do? This is a question I am asked all of the time! The great news is.. We can work out whats causing and how to fix them For babies 5 months and older, here are some of the causes of short naps:... Night sleep is not consolidated. If your little one's night sleeping consists of multiple wakings, this is where we need to start. Wake windows are off. If you are unsure of your babies awake window - you can download my nap guide (Link in my bio!) Babies sleep environment. Ensuring your little one has a DARK room will help them transition between sleep cycles. Snoozing while feeding. If your little one is catching some zzzs while feeding before bed, this small amount of sleep may make staying asleep and falling asleep difficult. Id love to hear what has helped break the short sleep cycle for you and your little one?
15.01.2022 Im going to let you in on a little secret What spare time! :P I love babies and helping people so much that I have spent time volunteering in orphanages in Kenya on TWO separate occasions, living with host families to immerse myself in their daily culture.... Travelling overseas and experiencing a world so different to my own was on my bucket list and I did the first trip to Africa solo. It was one of the hardest things I have done as my hubby stayed home due to work and study comments as I took the leap of faith into the unknown. What have you done that scared you? See more
13.01.2022 How do you know when your little one is ready for a nap transition? There are a few signs your baby may show when they are ready for a nap transition. If they are showing any of these and are at an age where a nap transition happens, then it is time to drop a nap and stretch out their awake time A few signs to look out for:... Resistance to bedtime Waking overnight multiple times or waking at staying awake for long periods Settling well for one nap but resisting the second Early morning wakeups have become common. Typical nap transition age: 4-5 months - 4 naps to 3 7-9 months - 3 naps to 2 15-18 months - 2 naps to 1 What signs did your little one show when they were ready?

13.01.2022 I can’t sugar coat that having a new baby does impact your sleep, BUT ongoing sleep deprivation can absolutely impact both you and your little one’s health. I love this post @psychedmommy has shared that brings light to just some of the feelings and thoughts that sleep deprivation can have on a new mum. If you have experienced sleep and anger - it’s ok! Let’s navigate your little one’s sleep journey together, and get you back to feeling well rested.... Did you experience postpartum rage in the adjustment to motherhood? 13.01.2022 I hope you have had a lovely Easter long weekend with friends and family - and that the Easter Bunny found you too Are you heading away over the school holidays? We can’t wait to soak up the Riverland for 6 nights camping next week with the girls! Here are my top tips for sleep when you are away from home:... Plan for sleep. Think about where you need to be at what times and then work out how you can best try to accommodate sleep. We try to leave for a trip or come home around nap times to make the most of being in the car Communicate your expectations with your co-pilot so you can work together to enable sleep to happen. This may mean taking older kids to the playground or keeping them occupied while you provided an assisted nap in the baby carrier, pram, or just in a dark room for cuddles - remember some sleep is better than no sleep. Bring comforts from home, don’t forget to pack your little one’s regular sleep associations like white noise, comforter, and block out blinds. I love our Snoozeshade in the caravan to block out light and stimulation. Where needed don’t be afraid to use earlier bedtimes if you’ve spent the whole day out and about and your little one is struggling to stay awake. Early bedtimes don’t equal early awake times when your bub has been out and about for the day with lost sleep. Do you have any questions about sleeping and holidays? Let me know below
12.01.2022 SAVE this post! It’s such a helpful visual on the journey to self-soothing Are you ready to start the journey to gently learning to self-settle? It’s important to understand where your little one is currently sitting.... When you begin the journey with your little one, rather than holding, feeding, bouncing, rocking to sleep, start by doing this until they are drowsy. Once they’ve got that, you can slowly move through each stage until your baby begins to fall asleep on their own! Not sure where to begin? That’s ok! Get in touch, we can work on this together in a 1:1 tailored consultation!
12.01.2022 As a Mumma of three, I know all too well ALL of these feelings Trust me when I say, you are not the only Mumma feeling this way and its okay to have extra support (in fact its needed!!) Your babys sleep is NOT a measure of your ability. Its ok for your babys sleep schedule to not be perfect (or even non existent) . Its ok to feel all of these feelings. 09.01.2022 As your little one gets older they will sleep less in the daytime and are awake longer between naps. At around 9-12 weeks maternal melatonin wears off and bub starts producing their own. Awake time should be 1 hour and 30 mins with 4.5-5 hours day sleep. Do you know the awake time for your bub?

07.01.2022 Think your baby is ready to sleep through the night? Before I go on, just to clarify, babies under 6-7 months commonly still need a night feed. There is a big difference between feeding out of necessity and feeding out of habit. When it comes to dropping the night feed I recommend parents have a clear plan!... My top recommendations include: Moving feeds. Slowly moving feeds closer to your little ones awake time. Reducing the amount you are feeding through the night before removing the feed altogether If you would like some help figuring out how to make the transition to sleeping through the night easier for you and your little one - lets chat!

06.01.2022 When our little ones join the world, wow is it a big transition! They have gone from their warm little cocoon, next to a heating heart into the loud, bright big open world! Mamas, if you have a little newborn.. Take the time to hold them, cuddle and soothe them. The washing can wait, let the dishes pile up. Simply take the time for your little one to adjust to their new world ... Share this post with a newborn mama you know! : @tinyheartseducation
06.01.2022 Day or Night? Do you have a baby that is getting their days and nights confused? This is VERY common in the first couple of weeks of your babys life. Babies need to learn to regulate their circadian rhythm. While its completely normal for your little one to be a little mixed up initially, there are a few things you can do to help your newborn understand the difference between day and night ... Aim to get your baby out and about in the morning Keep the house nice and light during babys awake time Use blockout curtains at nap time and overnight to keep the room nice and dark This will have corrected itself by 6 weeks of age, although it is common for little ones to have later bedtimes until around 12 weeks of age. Have you experienced a newborn with a mixed up cycle? by @sadie__banks

04.01.2022 Who’s in need of a toddler bedtime WIN this week? If you’ve resorted to rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to put the toddler to bed, I understand why you arrived at this point. Toddlers can be challenging at bedtime, but I promise bedtime can also be a whole lot simpler and dare I say ‘easier’ for both of you.... And I’ll let you in on a little secret.. successful sleep routines don’t need to be revolutionary- but they do revolutionise families. When it comes to toddler sleep, I’m sharing a new blog with my best tips to end bedtime battles. Because when a toddler knows what to expect at bedtime, there is less resistance (which equals less bedtime battles). I’d call that a win for both you and your toddler. Read the blog below for toddler bedtime tips www.kellymartinsleepconsultant.com.au/toddler-sleep-tips-c/
04.01.2022 Your kind words make my heart sing I worked with this beautiful family when bub was 6 months old. Mum was needing to walk or drive bub for all naps, sometimes up to 2 hours, twice a day. She was exhausted and needed change for everyone in the family to achieve more sleep.... Together we worked on bubs sleep associations and within the first two days , Lizz was seeing success. She didnt even fill up her car for petrol for over 2 weeks! This is the reason WHY I absolutely love what I do each and every day
04.01.2022 That sweet newborn scent! I remember those long nights in the first few weeks when the girls were newborns. Inhaling their sweet scent helped calm and relax me (and get me through the nights!) Who else can’t get enough of the newborn scent?
03.01.2022 Can bathtime help with babies' sleep? YES! Having a bath at the end of the day helps cue that bedtime is near. A bath can be perfect to include in your evening winddown routine. Don’t worry if you don’t bathe your baby everyday! Babies only need a bath 2 or 3 times a week, but if your baby really enjoys it, you can bath them every day and as they are older incorporate it into their bedtime routine!... Do you little ones love bathtime?
03.01.2022 If you follow along in my stories, you will hear me mention time and time again about white noise! But why? When your baby transitions between sleep cycles, outside noises can disturb them, making it more difficult to fall back asleep.... When white noise plays through their sleep, it creates a consistent and relaxing environment from falling asleep, to gentle rising. My favourite white noise device is Marc Rohm or you can download a Free white noise app - I like pink noise through your App store. Just ensure that it plays continuous and doesn't exceed 50-60 decibels! Do you use white noise for your little one?
03.01.2022 The four month sleep regression is the first sleep regression that you and your little one will work through and oh boy, is it a big one! But understanding what happens overnight will make the transition a tad easier At around 4-6 months of age your little ones Circadian Rhythm begins to function. Think of this as not a REGRESSION, but more a PROGRESSION, with the development of adult night sleep cycles coming into play.... This means that we now surface between sleep cycles more frequently overnight and this can lead to additional wake ups if your little one hasn’t learnt healthy sleep habits and relies on external sleep props to fall asleep.
