23.01.2022 If I’m working with you then you best believe I’m working my ass off to find the best way to individualise a treatment plan to your unique self. What works for you may not work for someone else and I’d suck at my job if I thought we would all fit into the one box! You see your therapist for one hour a week, fortnight or on a monthly basis which also depends on the unique individual. You need to be able to put what you’ve learnt in your sessions to practice for the other 167 hours a week your not in therapy. Therapy works and we can only be accountable for you during your session not what you do outside of that. If you’re given take home activities, please do them. It’s not for us but for you and will help in your progress

20.01.2022 Today is International World Cancer Day and this was me along time ago now, breast cancer at 27! the ‘C’ word really is an inconvenient pain in the ass but the aim is to inform, encourage and prevent (where possible), early detection and treatment. You are never too young and checking only takes minutes. It’s so simple, please start to do it more. I do have a couple of shower cards left over which teach you how to perform your own checks correctly, I am happy to send out ...to anyone who wants one. Please just inbox me and I’ll get one sent to you. To all of the survivors, well done to everyone going through this right now, please don’t give up- you can’t see it yet but it gets easier I promise There are some wonderful support services in the Macarthur area. Research is something I know many don’t like doing and it can become overwhelming on its own, over the weekend I’ll compile a list of local businesses who I highly recommend to utilise for support and post it so you can keep for future reference x

20.01.2022 Reposting from @createthelove This year I have had so many people who have held onto my number for Counselling sessions for 6 months or more, they simply weren’t ready to commit at the point of first getting in contact with me and that is ok! Therapy can bring anxiety, discomfort, tears- and a lot of them, it can make you vulnerable in front of your therapist, it can have you bringing up things you never thought you’d speak of again. It is a commitment you chose to make for... yourself for a weekly or fortnightly sometimes even monthly basis and if you’re not the commitment type this can even send your brain into overwhelm, I imagine it like the bottom diagram in this picture. Truth is therapy is not one straight line & definitely no A-B. I tell my clients you’ll visit the whole damn alphabet when you’re on your own healing journey and that will look different for each and everyone of us. Don’t be afraid to start!! Not just with therapy but with anything in life, with the right guidance your fears, doubts & troubles will not feel so heavy when you have someone to help you unpack your thoughts. A problem shared is a problem halved Wishing you all the most wonderful day. #counsellor#camden#macarthur#lifecoach#wollondillywomeninbusiness#femaleempowerment#itsyourtimetoshine

19.01.2022 I Still can’t believe it’s Christmas Day tomorrow, where has this year gone!!!! I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say we’ve all had a tough year this year. Losing both of my grandparents & carrying myself through my own grief was definitely not what I had anticipated happening, but sharing with you because I’m not exempt from pain & suffering. There were plenty of days where I was practicing what I preach to my clients. I am very proud of what I have achieved this year, my first... 6 months in business, completing my first semester at uni & currently still completing some short courses relevant to my counselling role. Thank you to every single person who has booked in with me & supported my dream! I am only closed for the public holidays so if you are needing an appointment outside these days, I am still available for sessions. Have a merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year. Looking forwarding to working with & supporting you in 2021

17.01.2022 What a year 2020 has been. We’ve been through the highest of highs & the lowest of lows, we’ve seen life as we know it change, we’ve had to be very adaptable as a society, we’ve had to rely on people we normally wouldn’t as social circles changed due to distance and travel restrictions. We’ve navigated home schooling, working from home, bringing back a little bit of old school home life & back to basics in terms of more home cooked meals and having the time to actually get th...ings done around the house. 2020 saw me lose two of my grandparents & needing to work through my own grief, start a university degree that I’ve been talking about since I was 5 years old, lose friends, gain new friends, invest more time in building old friendships & spend more time with my family This year taught me that sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith, believe in yourself a little bit more and try!! Whilst it wasn’t the best year to open a business, I did and I’m so greatful that I did just that. I have met and worked with some amazing people and I am very greatful they chose me to support them through life’s challenges. This is just the beginning for me, 2021 is going to be full of growth and while I have a hell of a lot planned work wise, the big goal for next year is to find a space to call home for Kelly McLaren Therapy & Wellness. While tonight’s celebrations will be very different to what we all have been use to, I hope you find the time to sit, smile, reflect on the year that was, enjoy a nice meal and spend some time with people that matter the most. May 2021 bring you good health, happiness, more family time and the courage to chase your dreams; whatever that looks like for you. Stay safe everyone

17.01.2022 I was very fortunate to have two of the most incredible McGrath Breast Care Nurses (Vicki & Therese) who basically became an extension of our family whilst I was going through Breast Cancer. I am extremely greatful for there knowledge, support, love & hugs at a time I needed most. It’s coming up to 10 years cancer free for me this year; myself & my family will forever show our support however we can to the McGrath Foundation and pray that everyone facing a Breast Cancer diagnosis In the future has access to these Nurses If you have $20 floating about, please purchase a virtual seat. Everything crossed you never need to help or support anyone in your close circle through a diagnosis like this but the reality is 55 people a day in Australia will get diagnosed and there’s a chance it could one day affect someone you know x

15.01.2022 It’s been well over 2 months since I’ve posted on here, no reason for it other than I have been INSANELY busy!! I can’t believe we are in April already, time really does fly when you’re having fun. When I’m not working, I have my head buried in books studying, this is how I spend most weekends. I’m also completing extra professional development courses which is required by the Australian Counselling Association so I can stay registered. ... Sometime this week I’ll go live and do an update on business life and what I’ve been working on behind the scenes!! Exciting things are coming... WATCH THIS SPACE! Kel xx

15.01.2022 Christmas has got to be my absolute favourite time of the year! I have been soooooo busy it’s taken me 4 days to put my tree up- definitely can’t rush this process

15.01.2022 Although I’ve been quiet on here, life has been going a hundred miles an hour. This weekend I’m pressing to enjoy some much needed family time. It’s so peaceful here Wishing you all an amazing weekend

11.01.2022 My word for 2021 is GROWTH. I’m going to grow my education & knowledge Business growth is at the top of my list Growth of my network & connections ... Growth in my personal relationships. Making more time for those that matter most I also have over 150 books in this book case and have probably only read 10. I love to read and have a long list of new books I want to purchase but am making a promise to purchase no more until these are read. I’m aiming for one book a week!! Currently mapping out business plans for 2021, I’ll share that with you soon.

08.01.2022 I’ve been very quiet on socials lately, but I have been super busy behind the scenes. Tonight I participated in a live webinar put on by @bcnapinklady about Breast Cancer and the Fear of recurrance. It not only helped me understand the fears my clients may have around the fear of recurrence but also helped me understand my own fears and where they come from and that it is a normal response to such a diagnosis. ... Thank you Dr Charlotte Tottman, Professor Bruce Mann & Vicki Durston for a very informative webinar. I am undertaking so much extra training and various courses this year, I believe knowledge is power and I am incredibly greatful for all that I have learnt to date and all that I am yet to learn. The mind is a very powerful tool. Over the next week or so I’ll be jumping on to have a bit of a chat with you all and keep you updated with extra courses I am doing this year..... I am excited, watch this space

08.01.2022 Not only tuning in for this as a Survivor but also for educational purposes for the Breast Cancer Patients I’m looking after in Practice. This is open for anyone to join you just need to register

05.01.2022 Whilst I’m in the process of creating my 2021 vision board, I thought I’d take you along and share with you a little about the purpose of illustrating your dreams visually. For those that don’t know, a vision board is a visualisation tool which refers to a board of any sort used to build a collage of words/pictures/figures that represent your goals and dreams. The best way to achieve your goals is to keep them at the top of your mind. By putting something in the eye of where ...you can see it every day, you will prompt yourself to visualise your ideal life on a regular basis. Visualisation activates the creative powers of your subconcious mind and programs your brain to notice available resources that were always there but escaped your notice!! I’ve just pulled down my 2020 vision board and two things I actually placed on my board for business had come to fruition. I’m stepping up my goals for 2021 and at the end of the year will share my board and what I have achieved. It’s not for everyone & that’s ok. You do whatever works for you
