24.01.2022 From the bottom of my heart... I'm SORRY. Sorry Day asks us to acknowledge the Stolen Generations, and in doing so, reminds us that historical injustice is still an ongoing source of intergenerational trauma for Aboriginal and Torres Islander families, communities, and peoples. One of the many consequences of the Stolen Generations was that children could not access traditional foods or learn about their culture, including ways of preparing and sharing meals. ... Sorry isn't a word, it's an action. We can all make amends by recognising the strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, valuing their knowledge, and understandings of food, nutrition and health, and recognising and addressing the ongoing impact of colonisation on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. #nationalsorryday2020

15.01.2022 If you have been working on changing your relationship with food and body but you feel like it’s failing because you haven’t lost weight, I can empathise with your discouragement, however, weight loss is not an accurate reflection of real progress. I am not anti-weight loss; however, it is important to also focus on the positive behavioural and emotional changes you are able to make, regardless if weight loss occurs or not. A change in any of these is a positive sign and pro...gress: decreased feelings of guilt after eating. decreased all or nothing eating. decreased non-hungry eating (emotional/stress eating). finding movement and self-care that you enjoy and prioritise. increased ability to detach your self-worth from your size, weight or shape. increased understanding that you’re not to blame for how you feel about your size, weight or shape. If you’re ticking some of these boxes, you’re well on your way to changing your relationship with food and body. Once this happens your body will eventually find the weight it naturally wants to be at, without yo-yo-ing up and down all the time. Trust the process.

15.01.2022 Save this post by Dr Joshua Wolrich and remind yourself of it daily.

03.01.2022 Something a little different, but this indirectly relates to our relationships with food, body and self. What a fabulous much-needed program :) https://www.facebook.com/ABCTV/videos/473646623490475

02.01.2022 This is a great example of diet culture and food rules dictating what we think we "should" eat. If you're flexible with your food choices and allow yourself to feel satisfied, you're less likely to set yourself up for a binge/restrict cycle.

02.01.2022 In the craziness that is my life right now, I completely forgot World Eating Disorders Action Day, yesterday! Did you know that over 1 MILLION PEOPLE in Australia have a diagnosed eating disorder? And many more undiagnosed. Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED) are the most common. If this is something that you're living with at the moment, don't hesitate to reach out to me. Early intervention is vital. I've been there and you can recover too.
