25.01.2022 I was greatly saddened to hear of the unexpected loss of Winifred :'( It was certainly fun and games when Winifred and her brother, Solomon, came to stay! Although half his size, Winifred was sass personified, and definitely liked to run the show (and most of the time Solomon let her think she was in charge ;) ) Winifred was not backwards in coming forwards when demanding attention, and frequently had much to tell you....chattering away like nobody's business! I know she wil...l leave a large, tabby-shaped hole in her mum & dad's lives & hearts, so please join me in sending Christiana, Craig, and Solomon love and comfort <3 Safe crossing over the Rainbow Bridge, Winifred ox

25.01.2022 Hello friends, hope you're all safe & well It will probably be awhile yet until things are back to "normal".....makes it very tricky to plan ahead! I've had quite a few messages over the past week from people wishing to add/confirm/alter bookings (particularly for the upcoming June/July school hols). My calendar is starting to fill up, so please touch base asap if you were thinking of trying to go away anytime soonish, and require care for your kitty :) Take care! ox

24.01.2022 For those of you who use the wood pellet litter, there's a good special on at the moment (plus free shipping for orders over $29, ie buy 2 bags or more and don't pay any P&H ) https://www.pethouse.com.au/catmate-cat-litter-15kg

23.01.2022 Hello friends! Due to my parents' unexpected change in holiday plans, I now have my rear boarding space free from 28th March until 12th April - please get in touch asap if I can help out with care for your kitty during this period

23.01.2022 Hello friends I've noticed that I've been disappointing a lot of you recently, due to already being booked out across the dates you require....I'm so sorry, I always feel really bad about this The other ladies I usually refer to have also been super busy, so often I don't even have a helpful alternative to offer. I have limited availability remaining for the rest of the year, so please do get in touch asap if you think you may need care for your kitty - more notice is alw...ays good! And for those who like to plan well in advance, I'm happy to take bookings for next year Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you!

22.01.2022 Hello friends, hope every is safe & well during these unusual times...... With most people having to cancel their Easter holiday plans due to current government restrictions, I now have availability to care for one family's furkid/s (anytime from now throughout all of April and beyond). If your family is still able to go away and needing care for your kitty, please contact me asap :) Additionally, should you know anyone impacted by COVID-19 who is hospitalised or for any rea...son unable to look after their kitty, please reach out and I'll help if I can. Take care, everyone ox

20.01.2022 Well according to this, I'm kicking goals left, right & centre

20.01.2022 Hello friends :) Hope you and your furbabies are surviving this "delightful" weather :/ I know it's getting into that crazy time of year and it's hard enough thinking 24hrs ahead, let alone as far as next year! But I wanted to give you all a heads-up that my bookings for 2020 are now open and already filling up, so if you know you have a holiday on the cards for next year and haven't already contacted me, please touch base asap (I'm happy to pop in tentative dates if you don't have exact ones locked in yet). Thank you!

20.01.2022 Hello friends! Due to a recent change in plans, I now unexpectedly have availability in July, August, & September :) This is one of the busiest times of year for bookings (2 lots of school hols, Ekka holiday week, and European summer), so it'll be first in best dressed! Just wanted to give you all a heads-up before I share my availability elsewhere ;) Please get in touch asap if you need care for your kitty over these times, or any other dates in 2019 (second half of the ye...ar is pretty chockers already!) Thanks, Kel

20.01.2022 Yesterday I received some very sad news......I still burst into tears every time I think of it :'( One of my much-loved guests had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and his mum had to make the very difficult decision to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge :( Baron was a senior fellow who had an extended stay with me whilst his family were visiting relatives overseas last year. With his gangly legs and crooked smile, Baron may not have been the super model of the cat ...world! But anyone lucky enough to meet him could instantly feel his warmth of spirit and friendly nature.....Baron was a devoted big brother to his human little sister, and constant companion to his mum, Megan. Baron and I developed a close bond during his stay - I'll miss my online shopping advisor, and trash tv binge buddy! And he gave THE best cuddles :) I felt apprehensive when I bid Baron farewell.....having lived through several years of uncertainty with my own senior kitty, I knew all too well that I had to make that last cuddle count. Fortunately Baron's family were blessed to have him in their lives for a further year <3 I truly do think of all my kitty friends as members of my extended family, and a piece of my heart has gone with Baron. I'm sure you will all join me in sending love & support to Megan (Sum Mers) & her family during this very sad time..... Baron, you were a very special soul, and I will never forget you. Fly free, precious boy ox

19.01.2022 I was heartbroken to receive some tragic news over the Easter break: one of my beloved guests, Leo, gained his wings :'( Leo was just a youngster - only 1 year old - and I first met him last year in all his kittenish glory! He was a pocket rocket ball of Burmese energy, and did nothing by halves: he played with gusto, scaled the highest of heights without fear, snuggled with a ferocity of affection.....and let you know in no uncertain terms when he was displeased with you! ;...) I strongly believe that beings come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime.....and although Leo was taken from us way too soon, I definitely feel he was here for all three: he lit up his Mum's life, and she just doted on him; his season, though brief, was full of sunshine and happiness; and our memories of Leo will sing in our hearts for a lifetime. Leo's loss was unexpected, and has been a huge blow to his family - I'm sure you will all join me in embracing his grieving mama, Lee, and sending her and her family love and support at this difficult time. Leo, you were Mr Personality, and will be much missed ox

16.01.2022 How interesting!

15.01.2022 Lest We Forget......

14.01.2022 Hello friends! Apologies for being MIA - there's been a lot happening (including some health bumps, and wrangling some very cute - but totally full-on! - foster kittens....see pic in the comments ). Just a quick heads-up that I have limited availability remaining in March, April, & May (particularly around the school holiday period), so please reach out asap if you were needing to book care for your furkids

12.01.2022 EDIT: CHARLIE IS NOW HOME SAFE & SOUND <3 Thank you for sharing! Friends in Ashgrove & surrounds, please keep your eyes peeled for this poor, scared, missing kitty.....and share, share, share ox

12.01.2022 Happy Easter! The furkids & I wish you a chocolicious day

11.01.2022 Looks like Santa came to our house!! Hope he was kind to you (Thank you to my sis, Katrina, for the super cute personalised stockings for my furkids <3 ) And thank you Jennifer for the absolutely gorgeous gift (all the way from Edinburgh!) Merry Christmas everyone

09.01.2022 Just checking in with all my kitty-loving friends: Are you OK??

09.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day to all you very special kitty mums

08.01.2022 Moi? He he, never

08.01.2022 A shout-out to all of you who have sleek & stunning ebony furkids Unfairly, due to lingering superstitions and the like, black cats get a bad rap :( They are often left languishing in shelters whilst their coloured counterparts are swiftly adopted :'( Here are some interesting facts about black cats!... They are intelligent creatures with lots of love to give, so it's worth getting to know a black cat! They are the last to be adopted at shelters and the first to be put down, so they are endangered from the outset. Black cats are in danger in the weeks before and after Halloween - keep your pet safe during this time and don't let them wander too far from home. Black cats' fur can "rust" in the sun. It's just temporary, however, with their normal colour coming back in the winter. According to research, black cats are more disease resistant, meaning a higher resistance to the autoimmune virus FIV. Simply amazing! Please give your black kitty a bit hug from me and mine

06.01.2022 Many of you have met my furkids Bowie & Jagger :) Well the third of the tabby trio of terrors, their brother Zappa, was adopted by the lovely Chantal and her beautiful children, Josie & Sam <3 Chantal lives & works in The Gap, and has organised an amazing community heath & wellness expo for this coming Sunday.....and this year pet health and wellness has been included! If you're up for a fun and informative morning out, why not swing on by?

06.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day to all the kitty mamas

06.01.2022 These guys are great! I sourced my supplies for my front enclosure here

06.01.2022 Hello friends :) Do you happen to know anyone wishing to add a fabulous feline furkid to their family?? Please share! I have a lot of fosters come and go, and occasionally you get a really, really special one......Dimitri (no, I didn't name him ;) ) definitely fits the bill! It would mean the world to me to find him an absolutely amazing forever home, but I only have a couple of days before I have to return him to the shelter, where he'll just be sitting in a cage, waiti...ng for someone to come along.....I need your help, please! I'm happy to welcome you for a meet & greet at my house, and talk you through the AWLQ adoption process Sadly, 5 year old Dimi's previous family have abandoned him :'( This is particularly heart-breaking, as he's pretty much the perfect cat! He's a super-smooch: loves cuddles, will sleep curled up beside you, is most adept at "helping" you with computer work, and will trot around being your wingman as you go about your day.....chirping away with his hilariously high-pitched little voice (totally at odds with his gangster name ) He has impeccable table manners, and is wonderfully tidy with his litter tray. We've been working together on fattening him up and improving his beautiful coat (a few more weeks on high quality food will have him looking even more handsome than he already does!), but he's otherwise passed all his health checks. So far at my place he's not been tested with children or dogs - he seems totally unfazed by cats, and is very keen to come out and play when he sees my kitties through the door! - however, he's extremely good-natured and relaxed, so my gut instinct is that he'd fit in well in any household. Dimi is an Animal Welfare League foster, so AWLQ are the ones who approve and finalise the adoption. The great news is that all AWLQ kitties are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and up-to-date with flea & worming treatments :) Please don't hesitate to contact me for further info - Dimi & I can't wait to see you

05.01.2022 Who else's kitty is eating them out of house & home at the moment?!!

05.01.2022 Current availability: 3RD SEPTEMBER - 21ST SEPTEMBER 7TH OCTOBER ONWARDS Hello friends :) Very sadly, in February 2017 I lost my beautiful, furry companion of 19 years, Caesar - he's left a massive, pussycat-shaped hole in my life :'( I've since been caring for my friends' and family's furkids in my home and fostering kittens for AWLQ, so I thought I'd put the word out and see if there might be any local families who need someone to look after their furry family members whi...Continue reading

04.01.2022 What a purrrrfect excuse for kitty cuddles on this chilly day

03.01.2022 So interesting! Next time my Jagger is teased for his saggy gut I'll be pointing out that it has an evolutionary purpose, and Mother Nature is pretty darned clever ;)

03.01.2022 Seasons greetings! Wishing you and yours every blessing this Christmas! May the New Year be bright, beautiful, and bountiful, and your hearts and laps full If you were brave enough to risk a Christmas tree this year, then my hat is off to you Thank you for your ongoing support this year, and for trusting me with the care of your furry family members. Looking forward to lots more kitty cuddles in 2020!... Love and Christmas hugs, Kel oxxoo (with purrs galore from Bowie, Jagger, Logan & Sabine )
