25.01.2022 Today our Junior School SRC representatives were busy handing out positive poems for RU OK? Day. One of these poems was, Everywhere you go, leave a glitter trail of kindness behind you. What a wonderful way to start the day. The giving and receiving of positivity was enjoyed by all students and staff. Today is the day that we remind each other, that every day is the day to ask, R U OK? #ThePursuitofExcellenceWithAllOurMight... #YourPreptoPathwaysExperience See more

09.01.2022 Student Global Citizenship Workshop Day to ‘Solve the 17’ with SolarBuddy.org Our newly-established Club 17 has been busy in our final term this year to promote the United Nation’s Global Goals. Today, progress is being made in many places, but, overall, action to meet the Goals is not yet advancing at the speed or scale required. 2020 needs to usher in a decade of ambitious action to deliver the Goals by 2030, which is why we, as a College community, need to come together... to be a part of this ‘Decade of Action’, calling for accelerating sustainable solutions to all the world’s biggest challenges. And thanks Solar Buddy, we have taken yet another step through Club 17 to address change. Club 17 were very excited to build on our existing partnership with Solar Buddy an Australian charity uniting a global community with a big dream to gift six million solar lights to children living in energy poverty by 2030. Solve the 17 was a full day program from earlier this term, that involved students from Years 6-11, many of them members of Club 17, as well as our Middle School and Senior School SRC groups. As part of a Global Innovation Challenge, the students were involved in a highly engaging team building program to devise collaborative solutions aligned to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They were deeply engaged throughout the day, working together to discover, define, develop, design and deliver unique solutions to a range of global issues relevant to young people and our world today. We hope to build on the action plans and solutions of these students from their workshop to incorporate this into the work of Club 17 next year in 2021 and beyond for our decade of action. We also hope to encourage you all to get involved and do your bit for the Global Goals! #GlobalGoals #Club17 #GlobalCitizenship #DecadeOfAction #SolarBuddy #ThePursuitofExcellenceWithAllOurMight #YourPreptoPathwaysExperience

06.01.2022 Congratulations to one of our graduating Year 12s (and English EXCELeration alumni) Luis, a tremendously talented filmmaker whose latest effort - ‘Equivalence’ has made it to the finals of the Bond University Film and TV Awards. His film (along with the other finalists) can be viewed here: https://bufta.com.au/peoples-choice/ If you have the time to watch it, I think you will agree that even if sci-fi is not your thing, the film is an impressive technical achievement. ... The awesome thing is that this is a popular vote competition, so if you could spare a moment to vote for his film (it only takes two clicks!), it could make a real difference to his chances at success. Even better, you might be willing to vote AND spread the good word to others. Thank you for supporting our students and their love for the arts!

05.01.2022 Thank you to all involved in the Year 6 Cultural Immersion Day. Its always a fun filled day for our Year 6s as they get to spend time with our First Nation educators, artists, and performers from Cre8tive Nations. Our co-creative and collaborative partnership with Cre8tive Nations is highly valued by the College, and the teams storytelling and activities are increasing our students awareness of First Nation culture and history in an authentic, passionate way. Special mention to our Librarian Jane, and our facilitators, Uncle Dennis, Aunty Nicole, Aunty Paula, George, Josh, and our Torres Strait Islander performers. #Cre8tiveNations #diversity #equity #inclusion #YourPreptoPathwaysExperience #ThePursuitofExcellenceWithAllOurMight

02.01.2022 A stellar career on the professional circuit beckons Tennis Excellence student Marvin who recently appeared in Hong Kong’s Sports Magazine Sportsroad. His outstanding tennis achievements to date include winning the Gold and Silver medals in the China Youth Games U16 Mixed and Boys Doubles respectively and became the Champion in the U18 Boys Singles and Doubles events last year. This year Marvin's abilities has seen him compete for the Met North Region in Rockhampton where h...e was extremely close to qualifying for the Queensland team. Although he didn’t make the Queensland team he was successful in the Regions and helped bring home the Silver Medal in the State Championships. Marvin also represented the College in the Met Finals where the open team finished as Metropolitan Champions. His success continued competing at the State Team Tennis Championships in Rockhampton last month with the College team finishing in third place after drawing, but losing on a countback to the eventual finalists. Marvin's peak performance over the past 12 months can be attributed to numerous hours on court as well as sessions in the gym, on court agility and speed work, recovery sessions, physiotherapy and psychology. Throughout the year he has had the opportunity to play matches of the highest quality in the state against Queensland and National representatives. He has also trained with ex Professional Player - Gavin Van Peperzeel. Keep up the great work Marvin! #QueenslandTennisSchoolofExcellence #tennisqueensland #MichelleBridges #LisaDonaldson #MikeDalgleish #CollegeofHealthandFitness #VALDPerformance #ActiveSportsHighPerformance #YourPreptoPathwaysExperience #ThePursuitofExcellenceWithAllOurMight
