24.01.2022 IN HOUSE AUTHOR TALK AT KEMPSEY LIBRARY Kempsey Shire Library's first face to face event in what feels like forever will take place on Thursday 3 December at 10:30am with an author talk with local writer Karly Lane. Karly lives on the mid-north coast and she will come to read from and talk about her book Something Like This.... 24.01.2022 BIG TURN OUT FOR FREE CARAVAN SAFETY DAY IN KEMPSEY There has been a big turn out in Kempsey for the booked out free Safety Checking Day for owners of caravans and camper trailers. This event is designed to increase driver awareness of the risks associated with towing and specifically to help drivers improve their understanding of why it’s important to get the weights, mass and dimensions right for the safety of themselves and other road users.... It is being hosted by Transport for NSW, NSW Police and Council. Thank you to all of the residents who attended.

21.01.2022 $300,000 AVAILABLE IN GRANTS FOR BUSHFIRE RECOVERY PROJECTS Local not-for-profit community groups are being invited to apply for a share of $300,000 in funding for projects that contribute to the Shire’s recovery after the devastating summer bushfires. Under the Bushfire Recovery Community Grants Program, Council is offering $300,000 for community-led projects, with a maximum of $30,000 available for any one project... 20.01.2022 CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE HOURS TO EXTEND With changes in public health orders the hours of operation for Council's Customer Service Centre will extend from Tuesday 1 December. The Tozer Street offices will be open between 10am and 4:30pm four days a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.... Wednesdays will be used to prepare a six month trial of a mobile customer service unit that will travel to different areas of the shire each week from January. 12.01.2022 NEW BANNERS ON SMITH STREET DESIGNED BY LOCAL STUDENTS We've installed new banners along Smith Street as part of the 16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence towards Women and children campaign. A UN Women global initiative, the 16 Days of Activism runs from International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November through to International Human Rights Day on 10 December.... The campaign is driven locally by Kempsey Families and the Love Bites Committee of the Macleay with support from Council and encourages us all to eliminate gendered violence in our community. The new banners feature designs by local students, Emma Ross from St Paul's College and Anton Atkinson from Macleay Vocational College.
