The sessions will kick off in July and will be free for Ipswich based musicians. Watch this space for more details. A big th...anks to the Qld Regional Arts Development Fund and the Ipswich City Council for supporting this project. More details to follow. https://images.app.goo.gl/7jvHGkzbrd4SBgA29

21.01.2022 I hope everyone is keeping safe and well, and maybe using this time to get some new musical skills? I want to share my tribute to the great Bill Withers who sadly passed this week. So much joy putting this track together in the last 24 hours. For the music tech minded - I used :... 1. Felt Tremelo Rhodes keyboard from Native Instruments 2. Akai EWI using the XPression for harmonica and tenor sax 3. Schecter Guitar with Guitar Rig 014 Warm Universe patch 4. Pevey bass - no effect 5. Studio Drummer Stadium Kit from Native Instruments 6. Digital Audio Workstation is Abelton Live. See more

21.01.2022 Isoceles is now live on Spotify. I wrote this song as a response to a Brisbane Songwriters challenge back in 2004 - "write a song about Maths". It was recorded as part of the Bad Chameleon project in 2005 and has lain forgotten til it got dusted off last week at the Summersong retreat in NSW. This recording features the wonderful smooth vocals of Steve Lang. https://open.spotify.com/album/239yeHKupOgzuhRqvVbunD

16.01.2022 This song had a recent revival at Summersong 2020 last week, so it is time it went up on Spotify. Here's a little preview - the full song should be available on Spotify and iTunes next week.

07.01.2022 Whoa!! We're up to 100 followers. Thanks all for subscribing - I hope to make it worthwhile for you. I love the way the Electro Swing trend is making the old music and dance moves cool again. This week I was playing around with the main theme of Benny Goodman's "Sing Sing Sing". I sketched in the main parts in Abelton and played with the instrumentation. Then I had fun deconstructing and reconstructing it using the Novation Launchpad. Having way too much fun.

05.01.2022 As I am selecting examples from my past work to put on this new page I am struck again by the seismic changes in Music Production in the last 20 years. In 2004 when we needed a trumpet part for Sacare Una Foto we brought in the aptly named Shane Hooton (yes really) whose brilliant trumpet playing you can hear on Sacare Una Foto. Now in 2019 I am working on a new song "Hush Now" with the fabulous Yani and I am using the Native Instrument Session Horns plug-in with Abelton. Th...e horn parts are all sketched into Abelton and then the articulation controls are set for legato, rip, staccato and Marcissi aand slow fall. As a music producer suddenly I have control over all the playing subtlety that used to be delivered by Senor Hooton - that's terrifying. On the plus side I can spend hours tinkering with the articulation controls without breaking the production budget. This website/blog will be where I put my musings about music production, some video tutorials, and examples from current projects. If you are interested in my Music Production and you are not a Russian Troll Farmer then please subscribe to this page.
